Even though I think some of the things skins do should be built into the site, the way muting eventually was, I love the ability to use AO3 skins so much and have great respect for people who create and/or discover and share various skins.

I love the blocking and muting feature AO3 implemented. I love that, if a creator is just not my vibe at all, I can mute them, and they'll never know it; likewise, if someone doesn't like my works, I'm happy they can avoid my works without ever having to make me feel bad by letting me know. I don't like the fact I've had to block several people, but I'm so glad I was able to easily do so when it was necessary. I love the fact, when I come across an anonymous work that I never wanna see again, I can use a skin to hide it without ever alerting the creator to this fact.

I love the fact the orphan and delete buttons, especially the former, can be hidden. I love the fact orphaned works can be hidden either via the mute button or by a skin. I found this adorable skin somewhere on tumblr that has a little bear throwing kudos hearts next to the kudos list on the bottom of fics.

The fact I can get rid of the banner telling me I've muted users and that useless search bar on AO3 is awesome, and the skin hiding hits and user subscriptions is great for keeping me from spiralling. I'll temporarily stop using the skin when I'm in a good place to fully look at my stats, and then, keep using it to prevent getting upset about the numbers the rest of the time.

All this said, I still absolutely hate the tag limit. I still think it's outright censorship, and with the easy ability to block and mute, users who abuse the tagging system can dealt with by everyone just ignoring their behaviour; one click, and their overly and/or incorrectly tagged work is no longer an eyesore/issue to finding correctly tagged works, and another click, and no one has to ever interact with them if they don't want to. I still think AO3 members should get a vote about removing it or, at least, upping the number of tags allowed. For all I know a vote might not go the way I hope, I still want that vote.

My issues with the tag limit aside, I'm still really glad AO3 exists, and those who help make it better are awesome.
