The Star

You are a star

You are a star, just like everyone else

The only differentiating trait being you are dim

You are small

Your faded luster barely reaches the eyes of those around you

A neat party trick to find you in the night sky, swarmed

Encircled by the grandiosity of those around you

Yet, you are a star

And one day you will fade, as all stars do

Not because you are a supernova, breathing new life into the space around you, or because you've exploded at all

But because the space around you has grown so vast beyond your weak light

Snuffing you out

Invisible

Insignificant

A force too weak to keep any bodies near you, alone, looking out at emptiness

You are a star

Just a bad one to look for
