I think noting how alike it is to KOSA helps get underatanding. It seems worse too, and has not been amended at all. Im sad how few ppl irl I speak about it to are unaware of the bill. The privacy concerns are massive, esp for the vulnerable

And then consider the recen SSN data breach in the US. A data breach of all the info required would be so terrible. That would put kids at risk as well in so many ways.

Plus, parents can already block sites if they know anything about parental controls. This is such a transparent grab for control.

Amid significant criticism from advocates, Diversity, Inclusion and Persons with Disabilities Minister Kamal Khera is defending her government’s long-promised, newly unveiled Canada Disability Benefit, calling the funds an “initial step,” but without laying out a timeline for future expansion of the program.

In an interview on CTV’s Question Period airing Sunday, Khera insisted to host Vassy Kapelos it’s important to “recognize” the significance of her government creating a national benefit for persons with disabilities in the first place.

“We recognize there's more to do,” she said. “This is an initial step that we’ve put forward, and absolutely, we are committed to doing more.”

The federal government revealed details of the benefit in its latest budget last month, after promising the program nearly four years ago and pitching it as a tool to lift persons with disabilities out of poverty, akin to the Guaranteed Income Supplement for seniors. [...]

Exactly! I actually had to sell T3s at one point to afford groceries, as disability payments go to rent for a one bedroom apartment and I still have to add $ that I don't have to pay the rest of the rent.

Alberta's election guidelines allow voters who don't have identification to be vouched for by someone in the same voting area who has approved ID and signs a declaration stating they personally know the other voter and can verify their eligibility and address.
