having a meltdown and Ted just picking you up and holding you to his chest. you cry and shake but when you're calmed down a bit he sits you closer to his knees and holds your face, thumbs rubbing your cheeks. tears wiped away with one sift motion, a lingering soft kiss to your forehead is placed.
"what happened, hun?" he'll ask, eyebrows drawn together and eyes glancing over the frames of his glasses.
you whimper and hide your face in his shoulder, wanting to disappear and become one with him. he sighs, nose nuzzling into the crook of your neck. soft kisses placed amidst your skin as his hands press on your back; fingertips rubbing over your shirt.
"do you want to talk or a distraction?" you shrug and he gives you a few more moments of silence and affection, feeling your body relax in his hold; the tension dissipates quicker than it came. he asks again, and you answer with distraction.
"good, hunnybunch," he hums, he rocks you side to side in his lap. he hums a soft tune before he reaches over by the coffee table, grabbing the remote in his hand. the TV gets turned on and he sets you beside him, tucked into his side as you calm down a bit more. you glance up at him, chin on his chest as he rubs up and down your back, fingertips circling shapes.
he's scrolling through Netflix, probably on a search for your comfort show, something to distract you and help you stay grounded. things have been rough lately, and he just wants to make things easier on you.
he looked so soft from where you were, serene and comforting. his glasses perched gently on his nose, falling slightly. hair dampened from his shower, but styled in the bit of a swoop he always has. he looks so.. relaxed. you curl up into him, arms wrapped around his middle and leg tossed over his lap. you want to be one with him, and close isn't close enough.
Ted laughs as he feels you press closer to him, "are you okay, my love?" a kiss is placed at the crown of your head, his lips linger and a hum reverberates through you. you sigh, gripping his sides, bunching up the fabric of his shirt in your balled up hands.
you shrug, "better," then press your cheek to his shoulder. his arm wraps around your waist, pulling you closer as he turns on your favorite show; adjusting the volume and pulling a blanket up over you both.
"I love you," a gentle whisper into your hair, and your body relaxes even further. you feel content, and happy, entirely happy with where you lie.
his hand rubs up your back, resting right in the middle of your spine as you reach up, fingertips on his jaw as you bring him into a soft and sweet kiss.
pictures he’s sent to you; ted is a massive goofball and will always send you pictures of himself, whether he’s gone on a road trip or sitting in the next room. you collect all of them, because he’s just so adorable, how could you not?
