holy shit that was intense.. i just wanted to QUICKLY check out grease pencil, made a small messy sketch and then locked in so hard that i've spent the next three days animating for twelve hours a day (my wrist is on fire)

there was actually no legs ocarina at first.. he was just looking at someone and then waved at them. but i thought "fuck it we ball" and i think that was the point of no return

overall i was pleasantly surprised, i really enjoyed working with grease pencil... until i got to coloring and got so mad i wanted to abandon the whole thing, or export lineart and color it in krita. but i'm a stubborn little shit, so i just kept going and reopening the app every time it would crash over and over and over and

so yeah, apart from the background, everything was done in blender through blood and tears and it was an interesting experiment

i'm gonna go lay down now, thank you for your attention

it's actually an experiment that I was forced into because I had to spend a day on my second OS, got bored, installed krita on there, didn't have my regular brushes but wanted to paint SO BAD. and here we are (Twilight was also part of the experiment but I don't really like how he turned out so shhhhh)

gonna drop this too, those are exploration sketches originally, but I kinda liked my first attempt so it's more of a ref sheet now.. and now I think that I should make ref sheets for the rest of them cause why does Time always look different, is it just me

No, seriously, the Spartan ||'s make me so emotional. I get cute aggression one second and cry the next. What do you mean these kids, who were scouted, kidnapped, and tossed to the fucking WOLVES of ONI and the UNSC, survived constant, ruthless basic to the point John as a CHILD threw up his first day... became these deeply entwined units of found family.

What do you mean these children went on to become teenagers endure and survive brutal biomedical augmentation that wasn't even guaranteed to work. Who saw their squad mates and kids they grew up with be sent out into the cold of space while they remained alive. These teenagers who would then become the blade wielded against the Covenant by people who see them as military hardware. These teenagers who bled together... who draw Spartan smiles on helmets as their only form of outward, emotional expression. Who know each other so intimately as a battle unit that they perhaps don't even need words to communicate?

The Spartan 2's who are never allowed to really die, simply marked as MIA and buried in files and red tape by ONI... the Spartan 2's endured regardless, because thats what they do, and they are so special to me 🥲

I'm bored at work and have too much schoolwork to do, so have some domestic relationship serotonin cuz I need to cope.

John, who is still learning how to be a romantic partner and show care in his own way looking like:

Waking you up with gentle touches first thing in the morning. If you have the same schedule, he'll wake you a few minutes early just to lay in bed with you a few minutes longer.

Brief brushes of fingers or wrists if you pass one another in the hall. Subtle enough, no one would question it.

If your schedules differ in the AM, he'll leave a cup of coffee on a mug warmer for you. He's learned how you like your coffee, nothing grandeous, but he knows it will make you smile.

If your schedules differ in the afternoon or PM, he'll find small workarounds to see you. Whether that's finishing weapons maintenance a little later, lingering just a minute or two by the mess hall, or detouring to briefly pass your work station.

If you work late nights, oftentimes you'll find a snack, whether it's your favorite chips, a protein bar, or sometimes coveted fresh fruit from the mess kitchens. A small sticker or sticky note attached with a smiley face drawn onto it.

If he's deployed and able, he'll send encrypted messages. Wishing you a good morning, sending small updates when able.

After mission debrief, he always finds you. If you're asleep, he quietly slips into bed beside you. Wrapping his arms around your waist with your back against his chest, his nose pressing against your hair to breathe you in until he falls asleep.

Happy birthday to Spartan Frederic-104!

Today is his -485th birthday!

As a Spartan-II, Fred has participated in hundreds of engagements against both the Insurrection and the Covenant. He is notable for his leadership skills and skill in close-quarters engagement.

Since the end of the Human-Covenant war, Fred is technically the leader of Blue Team, though out of respect and affinity, usually defers leadership to John-117 if he is present.

Fred is arguably the most sociable member of Blue Team, being highly observant and better attuned to reading others, which is an asset to his leadership skills. He is more willing to form relationships outside of the Spartans, including his friendship with Veta Lopis. Like all of Blue Team, Fred is bonded to and deeply loyal to his team.

In canon (~2560), Fred is turning 49!
