Damien grins over to him and nods. âBoth sound perfect, ma will love it. I will warn you in advance sheâll probably mother you, she mothers everyone that comes into her house, especially ones that bring foodâÂ
Diego couldnât help but laugh, he was used to having mothers around, women were important to feel like things are right. âI know I will probably regret it later, but I really donât mind. I think that as weird as it sounds I might enjoy it. Havenât felt that way in a long time, at least not live, and being mother over Skype is not the same sadly.â
ethnsteeleâ:
âIâd offer to dance with you, but I wouldnât want to embarrass you like that.â She held up her drink with a grin, as if that was the reason. She wasnât even slightly buzzed. She just wasnât good on her feet, not when it came to dancing. She was better at sporty activities, always had been. âSounds like you have good taste in music, though.â
âIâm sure you wouldnât but we donât have toâ He laughed âWe can just stay here and have a drink.â Diego laughed at her last comment âThank you, if you think thatâs good, then you also have a good taste. Tell me what are you listening to right now, do you have a song stuck with you?
diego-olmedilloâ:
He smiled and nodded âActually sounds like fun, do you want me to bring anything, not sure what you guys eat for the holidays, but I would love to help out by bringing something, just name it and Iâm in.âÂ
âAnything youâd like. My mom will welcome anything, And weâll try any food or drink youâd like to bring. We are a pretty open family when it comes to food. We love to try new thingsâÂ
Diego smiled, he was actually going to enjoy spending time with a new family and even more important he would be able to tell a story about the greatness of strangers helping other just because âI will bring some of the traditional food we eat in my country and maybe some alcohol.â He was also going to bring his camera but he wasnât going to tell him that at the moment.
mrdamienramoutarâ:
He nods softly with a smile. âYeah Iâm pretty glad to. I missed enough holidays over the past decade Ma deserves to have me back for as many as I can be around for. And weâd love to have you over if youâd feel up to it? My mom can be a bit much sometimes but sheâll keep you entertained to say the leastâ
He smiled and nodded âActually sounds like fun, do you want me to bring anything, not sure what you guys eat for the holidays, but I would love to help out by bringing something, just name it and Iâm in.âÂ
ethnsteeleâ:
Ethan wasnât sure why she was here. A statement that could be applied to most of her life at the moment, but she wasnât thinking that deeply. She was kept to herself, watching everyone else dance and laugh while sipping on the same drink sheâd had since she first walked in. Her curiosity peaked when Diego spoke up, and she looked over with a raised eyebrow. âYou say that like itâs a bad thing.â
He laughed âItâs a bad thing when you donât have anyone to dance.â Diego smiled and took another sip of his drink, he wasnât sure if Ethan was up to give him one dance, but he could also just take a break and enjoy the song and have a nice chat with her.Â

mrdamienramoutarâ:
âDefinitely and Iâm sure you will. Youâll have to introduce me when you do, Iâd love to meet themâ He shrugs softly with a smile. âIts no problem I know what itâs like to be away from your family, Iâll do anything to help there be a homecomingâÂ
âI willâ He smiled very grateful to the man. Diego was half lucky, half cursed that he had come to the states as a refugee when that could happen but the truth was that for his family he had to work harder to bring them to where he was in a legal way. So for him, all help was more than welcomed. âWhat about your family, spending the holidays with them?â
mrdamienramoutarâ:
He nods in understanding. âAh I see, I wish you the best of luck bringing them here. I know its rough to be without family, so if you need any help with anything let me know. I still have a few connections here and thereâÂ
He nodded âYeah, itâs been a hard year, but well get there, new year, new opportunity to do it, I just want to bring them here so I get to see my grandparents and spend as much time as I can before well you know. Wow really? Thatâs great, thank you I would appreciate.â
genesis-beltranâ:
âQue es una chamita?â she asked, biting her lower lip to try and hide her smile and raising her brows. âI do. Iâve got you right where I want you,â she teased, laughing lightly and scrunching her nose a little. Spanish wasnât her first language, but her parents spoke it often enough for her to pick up a bit of the language.
âLlevame a las estrellas, hermoso,â she teased. If she played her cards right, maybe the handsome stranger would take her home. Or maybe he would come home with her.
He smirked and due to the loud he leaned to her ear and said âTodo a su tiempo, but donât worry is nothing bad.â Diego was not really going to deny that she did, she worked her cards right and he was going to let her take him wherever she wanted.Â
Diego smiled, she was really driving him mad, he really didnât date or just consider being with girls as young as her, but she was making it really hard to back down, he decided to just go with the flow âLetâs go somewhere else.âÂ
genesis-beltranâ:
Genesis gave a âwho knows?â kind of shrug, but he wasnât being entirely honest. The truth was that she was the one ghosting someone else and dipped out on their date elsewhere. But Diego didnât need to know that.
âIâm Genesis, but you can call me whatever you want,â she said, wrinkling her nose and smiling. She pulled away for a moment, still dancing with him as she gave him a flirtatious once over, then drawing closer and wringing her arms up around his neck as best as she should manage with their height difference. The man was undoubtedly handsome, and something about his eyes drew her in.
Diego smirked remembering the song he had stuck inside his head that was named exactly that. âGenesis is your name and that exactly how I will call you, maybe chamita, but that will depend on how the night goes, donât worry is nothing bad.â When she moved further away from him, he looked at her just curious how much she liked to play. âYou seemed to know exactly what you are doing, arenât you? I feel like the one that should be calling me whatever she wants is you.â
mrdamienramoutarâ:
âOh fun. I canât imagine. My mom is enough to deal with most days. Donât get me wrong I love her but she can be down right scary and Iâve been to war.â He smiles softly, âDo they live here? Or back home for you?âÂ
He smiled sadly and nodded âYes, the good part is that grandmothers can also be on your side tooâ Diego took a sip of his drink and shook his head âNo, they are in neither, actually right now they are in Colombia, Iâm trying to bring them here for or actually to move them here starting next year.âÂ
thomasbyunâ:
âYeah, I agree. Besides⊠thereâs already so much negativity in the world, Iâd rather be the positive ones. Even if weâre a dying species.â He offered Diego a smileâkind of proud, but honest smile since he did feel proud to be one of the positive, good ones. And he paid close attention to what Diego was saying, because to him, the older man was such an inspiration and he wished he could become half of the journalist that Diego was. âI mean⊠youâre my inspiration, so I kind of feel like you should be treated like a star. Sometimes Iâm like âwow⊠Iâm talking to Diego Olmedilloâ, you know? Itâs really amazing to me.â He shook his head, already feeling like a dork and rubbed his hand over his face. âAh⊠Iâm an emo kid at heart. My friend gave me a âmake america emo againâ hat and I swear Iâve never worn anything more relatable, but Iâm not exactly picky with my songs, to be honest. As long as we get to chat and not yell at each other, Iâm fine with. You know that keeping quiet is not easy for me.â
Diego laughed and nodded âYeah, but I think we can be like the pandas, and get out of that listâ He never saw himself as a big reporter, yes he had done a lot of things but it was like if he didnât do it, someone had to, he was more into his duty to the people, to the truth or just to journalism itself as a philosophy âOh come on man, you are going to make me blush. And of course, I will talk to you, you are my colleague and I actually really like your work, the way you write is very easy to understand and quite human.â He laughed âSounds like a great hat. Whenever I get a few tickets for an emo gig you will be the first one I call.â Diego smirked and nodded âYes and thatâs wonderful.âÂ
