Post-Time Travel Recovered Memories AU [Pt.1]
It happens over the course of seven days, in South Korea, in Japan, in China and America, to those deemed strong enough to bear the weight of a once-future-past. It starts with headaches that build with each passing day, nights spent tossing and turning from dreams (and nightmares) that seem too real to pass for figments of imagination and yet aren’t clear enough for memories, fuzzed over and half-forgotten by the time they wake up again, day after day, right up until the end when everything - the monsters, the battles, the blood and bodies and too many deaths to count - crystallizes and then shatters in a blaze of noise and colour, all of it crashing back into their heads as reality reasserts itself and they all jolt awake at varying hours of the night, grasping for magic they no longer have, reaching for weapons they no longer carry, with the name of a man-turned-god on their tongues, who’d stood as humanity’s last line of defense and fought and fought until he’d fallen too, who’d lain alone and dying on a battlefield run red with his lifeblood and still had the heart to ask for a second chance on their world’s behalf.

Do you think that if Shen Yuan had transmigrated into the protagonist’s role he would have found a way to give the body back to Binghe because he felt it was just too much of a pity to simply do away with the original?
Unbeknownst to him, Binghe’s there. Watching. Growing alongside his possessed body.
Shen Yuan does the Abyss Arc himself. It wouldn’t do to awaken the poor boy’s spirit just to throw him to the wolves! And, okay, he can maybe fix some plot holes, unveil some secrets, deal with rat bastard authors, and take over the demon realm before returning the body. He’s leaving the harem gathering for Binghe, though! And, he stores away every treasure!
He’s not so presumptuous as to steal the joys of demonic lordship from the protagonist. He can do the hard part, and then give Binghe his body back to enjoy the fruits of Shen Yuan’s labour!
If he makes this sacrifice, surely the protagonist would let him live despite his transgressions?
He finds a body for himself, returns the goods, and all concludes peacefully and with as little bloodshed as possible. (It’s still a lot. Alas.)
And then his plan would hit the predictable snag of Luo Binghe misunderstanding the whole thing, leaving him with only the notion that a gentle, pretty, protective and other adjectives god-alien spirit had basically died of rage on his behalf and shouldered all of Binghe’s difficulties in order to spare him countless agonies and troubles.
How does one go about repaying that? Is marriage even enough?! Was this a form of courting?! How is this even supposed to work!
Also Shen Yuan believes putting off wife-gathering for a later date doesn’t affect the harem in any way. When Binghe’s back, he’ll do his protagonist best and get them back. Those who can’t even wait a few years, do they even deserve to have Luo Binghe’s regard?
(Luo Binghe is clawing at the walls with how Shen Yuan misses the implications of that statement. Meng Mo has developed spirit instabilty out of rage. Shang Qinghua is not helping.)
I want to see more Luffy as an almost cryptid-like figure, leaning into the fact that he's actually kind of scary and unnerving. The strange boy in an unassuming straw hat whose smile is too wide and full of teeth, always spreading across his face when he should be running in fear. Wild black hair and dark eyes that stare straight into your soul. A laugh that's born of pure delight but sounds like the dangerous cackling of a madman, making you question What He Is. A creature who can take any shape and size, who appears in places he should never be, and when faced with death simply tells it no. Threats make him grin and drawing his blood seems only to make him stronger. Always, always hungry, and loyal to those who feed his gaping maw. A harbinger of chaos everywhere he roams, as though he were its patron saint. Luffy is actually terrifying and I need that to be acknowledged.
