I'm not new to tumblr, but I am new to a pokemon related blog. I play Pokemon Y and competitively battle on Showdown from time to time, but my main love of pokemon comes from just the amazing world it opens the imagination up to. Hopefully that will come through in some of these posts.

Another UU Team

1. Fidel Castrodon the Gastrodon (he makes for a solid defensive core, and can surprisingly put in work)

2. Jumpinjehosefat the Electivire (powerful physical sweeper, and I've just been lovin using Electivire lately)

3. ImmaYellAtYou the Exploud (gnarly special sweeper, with scrappy and boomburst (which can go around subs now, thank you sixth gen))

4. Fireitup the Delphox (another of my recent favorites, solid special bulk plus solid special offense make this poke very useful)

5. Bangers the Scrafty (really awesome special bulk (base 115 in both defenses) so I slapped an Assault Vest on him and gave him intimidate so he manages to live most hits)

6. Brobat the Crobat (really fast physical sweeper, plus U-turn)

First battle for this team goes well (showcasing Fireitup (Delphox's) bulk and sweeping powers, Jumpinjehosefat (Electivire's) speedy physical strength, and ImmaYellAtYou (Exploud's) crazy boomburst):

This next battle showcases the amazing powers of the Brobat/Jumpinjehosefat (Crobat/Electivire) combo, Brobat U-turns out to break the balloon, and Jumpinjehosefat comes in to gain the speed boost from the incoming electric attack, and then earthquakes the shit out of that no-longer floating Ampharos:

The conclusion to my adventures with that monotype tournament

So it was decided that out of the Dark/Steel matchup that I would go against the monoSteel team, which is controlled by my buddy Baseddandy (formerly quinlanding) who is perhaps the most qualified trainer in the tournament. Here's how the battle went:

Basically, he was out-predicting me the whole time, I couldn't get my signature magic bounce going, and it was just a slow march to defeat from there. But fortunately, it is a double elimination tournament, so next I went up against my buddy Bingobango next, who was running a monoBug team. Unfortunate typing match up, but here's how that battle went:

It came down to Ham Solo (Reuniclus) versus Petey (Scolipede) and if I had just set up trick room earlier and at the right time, I might have been able to pull it off, but unfortunately that puts me out of the tournament.

Now Bingobango's Bug team gets a second chance against the still undefeated Baseddandy and his steel team.

New UU Team!

Sorry if it's been a while

1. Jumpinjehosefat the Electivire (I really enjoy switching in on electric type moves to get the Motor Drive speed boost and then abusing Electivire's already decent speed and attack)

2. Krunk the Krookodile (makes a solid defensive poke, and gives me a much needed toxic-er, dual stab + roar makes him extremely useful)

3. Freedom the Crawdaunt (another solid attacker, knock basically made crawdaunt more useful this generation)

4. Caperella the Gardevoir (this one comes from my Monopsychic team (the tournament is still going on, i found out that I'm going up against my sensei and his monosteel team, which is intimidating) and gardevoir is a solid specially defensive special attacker)

5. Florges the Florges (my cleric, which I forgot to give a nickname :P but it should be named Flebebased)

6. Fireitup the Delphox (I have been loving using delphox lately, magician is such a cool ability (and fire is my favorite type) and she also makes for a solid special sweeper)

This team got me out of a long losing streak, and now onto a winning streak, hopefully I don't jynx it though. Here they are in action:

So my friends and I all decided to have a monotype tournament, each of us randomly assigning ourselves a type. I managed to get Psychic. So here is my monopsychic team that I have been using.

1. Caperella the Gardevoir (my girlfriend named this one, gardevoir was a staple, had to have that fairy typing, plus it's all around decent speed, special attack, and special defense come in handy, not to mention the great moves it can get)

2. Ham Solo the Reuniclus (this guy is my typical lead, he holds a toxic orb but isn't effected by it because of magic guard, so he has the options to trick that onto an opposing pokemon, not only stealing their item but also toxic poisoning them, and then he can trick room it up and start attacking)

3. Espete the Espeon (I was so happy I got psychic because of this guy right here, magic bounce is one of my favorite abilities and it is very useful)

4. Regretagross the Metagross (this guy is powerful, and when paired with a trick room team, he can outspeed a lot of things, and is then able to handily smash the hell out of them)

5. Snowbro the Slowbro (this guy is mainly here for his defensive bulk and support, he can scald (and hope for a burn) or toxic, or set up trick room again, plus slack off/regenerator just keeps him alive)

6. Fireitup the Medicham (had to go with medicham for my mega because he is a great physical attacker and one that doesn't need trick room to outspeed everything, while he is not the fastest, he is still overall an asset to the team)

So far there's only been two rounds of the tournament, but it has been really intense, here is my first round battle against my friend Sam (aka SPL90) who got the fortune of getting dragon as his type:

Round two was really intense, I spent the next 24 hours planning how I was going to go up against this guy (Jackson, aka Excellentastic), who got fairy for his monotype. This is his round one battle against Alex, aka Jellyonmyballs who had a rock type team:

It's quite intimidating. I knew his Azumarill would be trouble, and I knew that mega mawile's sucker punch could destroy my whole team. So I started planning around those two threats. I knew priority bullet punch on Regretagross (Metagross) and Fireitup (Medicham) would be huge. If I played just right, I could get around his sucker punch. I knew it wouldn't connect in two ways, if I didn't attack, and if i out-prioritized it. So Snowbro (Slowbro) became an important part of my counter team, he is defensive, he can potentially burn it, and he can PP stall out the 8 sucker punches Mawile had with his status moves. Azumarill would be a threat if it got belly drum off, so I knew super effective bullet punches would be important. Basically I went into the second round knowing that Regretagross, Fireitup, and Snowbro would be the most important. Here's the battle:

Another Battle With My Favorite Gogoat Team

Weirdly enough Gogogogoat just kinda hangs back during this battle, he gets no k.o.'s but he doesn't get k.o.'d either. Fortunately, this gave room for TheNewMeta (Clefable) and Tyrone (Typhlosion) and Incredible (Azumarill) to do some work. TheNewMeta miraculously lives the hit from the essentially shell smashed Dragonite, Typhlosion outspeeds things even while tailwind is up, and Incredible gets some great k.o.'s on a d-danced T-tar and a weakened Gren, so that he can finally end the battle with a hat trick. I think this might be my signature team.

Also this is against Quinlanding, my sensei in all things pokemon. It is not often that I beat him in battle, so I'll post each time I do.

UU Showdown Team

This is my first UU team in a while, the tier is just beginning to get sorted out, so I'm only dabbling for now, but I can't wait until it truly settles

1. Manny the Manectric (I've always wanted to use one and volt switch)

2. Darmanny the Darmanitan (U-turn combo and he can just smash shit)

3. Flebabased the Florges (SpD and general support)

4. Krunk the Krookodile (Intimidate + ok Defense makes for solid defense)

5. Cong the Milotic (name was an accident after I changed her from a Nidoking but it just stuck, rest talk milotic has always been one of my favorite UUers)

6. Clawdia the Crawdaunt (got the name from Shady Penguinn, but adaptability crawdaunt can just smash stuff as well)

So me and my friend Quinlanding (who basically taught me everything I know about competitive pokemon) decided to do some UU battles, so we each put together a team and battled. This team isn't amazing, but it's fun, and I've been meaning to get back into UU so why not? Here's the team in action:

OU Showdown Team

1. Sansprit the Flygon (u-turn and general physical attacker)

2. Double Kick the Jolteon (volt switch and u-turn combo plus good special attacker)

3. Cong the Nidoking (beast of a special attacker)

4. Blissey (because it makes everything better)

5. Mandi the Mandibuzz (sub rocky helmet makes this thing the new meta)

6. She-beard the Trevenant (harvest sitrus makes it stay alive, and will-o + leech seed helps it stall things out)

This team has been doing well ever since I put Substitute on Mandibuzz, here's them in action:

OU Showdown Team

1. Rikaroo the Medicham (mega, really awesome movepool)

2. Nidoraptor the Nidoking (great special attacker, great counter to clefable, and sheer force)

3. Ignorance the Blissey (special defense)

4. Skarm the Skarmory (physical defense)

5. Buzz the Espeon (magic bounce)

6. Phanny the Donphan (named after a Phanphy that I bred in my Y version and traded over to my friend for a nuzlocke challenge, who unfortunately did not make it through that nuzlocke challenge, but also assault vest donphan is awesome)

This match is also with Bingobango. It is a long one thanks to the magic of the Skarmbliss combo (which basically means that I can block most moves whether they are special or physical).

Match Details:

Turn 39 is when the match is decided, because I knew he wouldn't keep his cloyster in on skarmory i took the opportunity to get a clean switch in with wounded mega medicham, it was a big risk, if he hadn't switched he probably could've taken out medicham with an icicle spear or a rock blast. Overall really good match though

OU Showdown Team

1. Rainbiggler the Politoed (sets up rain, scalds stuff)

2. Speedy the Galvantula (because he's fast, and sticky web, and free thunders in the rain (even though he already has compound eyes))

3. Chance the Noivern (overall good fast special attacker, free hurricanes in the rain)

4. Troy the Toxicroak (dry skin + drain punch + black sludge makes for some pretty good hp recovery on a powerful physical attacker)

5. Espete the Espeon (magic bounce is so useful)

6. Oprah the Mawile (mega, and really freakin cool (not to mention powerful))

Another battle with that Gogoat team

This one is against my buddy Bingobango who has proven to be a very strong player and has gotten so much better over the past few weeks

Details:

- MegaVenasaur has been a kingpin in his team, and unfortunately it is completely ruined by Gogoat's Sap Sipper

- He runs an interesting Chandelure set that has Energy Ball and no Shadow Ball, I'm not sure what else he has other than Fire Blast

- Whirlwind was key because of his ability to baton pass defense onto his bulky sweepers with that Mew

- Also Typhlosion did so much work in this battle, usually he just waits in the back but he actually gets to erupt this time which was awesome
