Hello 👋 Been a while since I've been on tumblr, so this post might be odd--but let's try!
My name is @vsitante and this is a new (side)blog dedicated to my current obsession, my oldest crossover ship lol. Yer Viy finally watched Kizuna and 02TB in October or November last year and...these two came back to "visit" me. Hence, I have lots to show--and even a website!
Everything that I'll ever do for these two will be on the site first and foremost, but I'd like to share some art on here at least :)
Some of the following is on the enter page, but I'll summarize how this blog will work as well:
stay away if you hate m/f ships. yes, even if you hate the queer m/f ones. (SURPRISE THEY'RE STILL BOTH GAY 🌈)
no miyako hate or anti-kenyako things. I don't get the ship, don't really like it but I'm not here to, excuse my Spanish, shit on the lovely Miyako or kenyako shippers. y'all can sit here by the fire too like in that one game
no daiken hate either, in fact that's still a thing :3c
if you don't like the epilogue to 02 with regards to Ken, I Have Bad News
I'm a R18 creator originally, so there will be R15 and R18 works alongside all ages stuff but I have to stress because of these two: no lolisho. Don't do it anyway, but if you're a Sasami fan, you already know why lol ¯_(ツ)_/¯
on that note, consider this place adults only. if I know you're a minor, you're getting blocked. you should block me too for your own safety!!!!!!
fandom is fun, and so are crossovers. if you have an issue with any of the above and come into my inbox like an American Yakuza, I'm sorry your mother didn't hug you enough but I'll certainly treat you the way your mother should have when you were younger. I'm Puerto Rican. Try me.
reblogs, comments, labubu effigy offered to ryo-oh-ki, whatever: go nuts, feel free to interact and explore. reposts and AI feeding not welcome, I will make you regret it.
above all else, Be Nice.

The "Kizuna <=> 13+" connection: How Menoa made it all possible
As mentioned before, 13+ had caused me to squeal several times over. But honestly speaking, Menoa's inclusion AND actual importance was something I had not anticipated. I had already rambled about it here shortly, but I still wanted to share my thoughts on the extent of her role a little further (which includes a few interpretations/headcanons too. To put it shortly, let's say: I'm very pleased to see that Kakudou, just like me, wanted her to continue being involved with Koushirou and Taichi.)
So let's outline her situation: Menoa Bellucci supposedly came from the Kizuna!timeline and ended up in the 13+!timeline, having all her memories intact. So her reality is that she lost her partner at age 14 and had tried to retrieve the partnership again and again, culminating in not only obsessive tendencies, but also a saviour complex.
Her plan was then to track down "the original Chosen Children" with two-sided intentions; on one hand, there was the idea that, if anyone could undo/stop the separation process, it'd be the famous Chosen Children who had saved the world various times before. On the other hand, she had done her research properly - trying to get access to the full list of Chosen Children from Koushirou would enable her to trap their consciousness in a frozen realm, thus "saving" them from such a cruel fate.
Hoping to win the likes of Koushirou, Taichi and Yamato over, she had not expected to be met with such resistance; being told that what she did was wrong, that "not growing up" was not the solution, that their fate was not pre-determined. And even though she was fought, "defeated" - and also arrested afterwards -, she must have realized her faults. It wasn't so much a punishment, but a hopeful lesson. So it's not unlikely to assume that the words of those three men may have lingered in her memories.
We don't know how much time has passed between her arrest and her entering the 13+!timeline, whether she had been released and whether the passage of time had been the same in both timelines. All we know is that she had cut her long her short (which had been held together by the butterfly hairclip previously), that it's now 2013 in the 13+!timeline - and that she is working with Koushirou in his lab. Not only that - it's specifically stated that "Menoa contributed half of the startup capital and is essentially the co-owner, but it was Menoa who decided that Koushirou would remain the director", having him specifically thanking her for making everything possible.
After reading that, I had to pause for a moment. As linked above, I have that headcanon that Menoa had always been in touch with Koushirou, that she may have been the American friend he had always referred to - although he had not been aware that it was her for the longest time. Him opposing her in Kizuna may have shattered her view at first; it's been quite apparent that she had admired Koushirou, his achievements and intellect quite a bit and she may have hoped for him to see things the same way she did.
However, at the end of Kizuna, her eyes had been opened - and now, transported into another universe, she gets the chance to meet "another version" of him.
This is not company CEO "Izzy Izumi", neatly wearing suit and tie and an undercut - this is "Izumi Koushirou", trying to establish a research lab in a warehouse, hair grown out. However, he isn't any less remarkable and brilliant in her eyes - which is probably why she decides to "fund" him, build him up to enable him to be just as, if not more efficient than his self from the Kizuna timeline. She may even have told him about the distortion tracking goggles his other self made for Kizuna!Taichi - so she may have been the one who enabled him to make those for 13+!Taichi again. (Let's not forget that his "American friend" also funded Koushirou in Tri, so having this little parallel makes my headcanon feel even more valid. I'm also not sure if it was a fanon headcanon or actually implied that her and Miyako helped to design the lab uniform - it was only said that Miyako decorated the entrance area of the lab, as far as I remember.)
Kakudou constantly points out how well they work together, Menoa praises Koushirou regularly as they try to figure out her whereabouts - even going so far as to have her imply that his "talk-without-filter" tendencies are one of "his good points". And then there is this little moment where she observes him working together with Tentomon, smiling mellowly...
Even writing all of this out now cannot express how insane it is to me. This woman comes from a timeline in which partnerships between humans and Digimon can actually dissolve, where she lost her own partner. She had been opposed by someone she admired and his friends - who fought despite the risk of losing their own partners to save her instead. Now she's in a timeline where partnerships do not vanish. Where she meets other versions of these people who saved her - they still have their partners, Koushirou is still amazing in her eyes. And this is where she may have decided to repent for what she did - by literally cutting her hair, cutting old habits, using her intellect to ACTUALLY work together with others to achieve something good. Even if neither of them remembers her or what happened.
There is no malice, no sense of revenge - but fondness and, probably, the sense of hopefulness that Kizuna!Taichi, Kizuna!Yamato and, eventually, Kizuna!Koushirou had evoked in her. Without their words, without Koushirou's bluntness, his "talk-without-filter", she would not have ended up here.
Of course we didn't see the full extent of what she did - but it's heavily implied that she isn't doing things on her own anymore, not only by the way she works and theorizes with Koushirou; she appears to be on friendly terms with Miyako, even teaming up to prevent Koushirou from being insensitive towards Rui; her and Taichi appear to help improve each other's language skills - at least he is is praising her Japanese getting better and they may or may not be "drinking buddies" as well. Which... May have been something she had wanted to do with him all along - whether to apologize or whether she had felt some kind of kinship to him after all they talked about in the other timeline.
In general, the core between Koushirou, Menoa, Miyako + Taichi and Ken is a wholesome group that I did not have on my 2026 bingo card. I would positively die to see the "genius bug squad" interact more, and Ken and Miyako simply feel like the perfect candidates to form a bond with her. (The latter because we need smart girls sticking together and the former because... Trauma bonding.)
In the end, I couldn't be more pleased with how Kakudou included her in this. It's both bittersweet and uplifting to see her wanting to make a change. (And on a personal, very self-indulgent note - whether intended or not, the way a lot of artists depicted her short-haired look to resemble Koushirou's daughter in the epilogue had me squeal a little too loudly. See here and here. The (Tai)KouMeno in my heart grows stronger every day.)
It's been a dismal month for me to sit down and write what I wanted to write all this time. as in lol nada.
I'll unfortunately will have to be locking in a bit for some priorities, so I may even be more of a lurker/less art maker thingeroo than usual. I still need to draw the Beyond page I wanted to do...as well as get back on track with the doujinshi stuff. But last PT session ruined my arm LOL. And it's already June...And I have to discuss more possible PT and imaging stuff. Time to download that doujinshi planner thing ;o;
Kinda not joking that my arm hurt more this time. I think either because they overworked me or slight miscommunication. I had to cheat a little on that Maki picture as a result. ^^; I really hope this week bodes well in that aspect. I need my arm, boss...
idk if anyone remembers that one moment at digimoncon this year where they had i think like gekkoumon, chiropmon, pristimon, and cougarmon's voice actors hanging out and they were asked something like "whats your characters most charming trait". and they all had thoughtful answers that they talked about for a bit except for the guy who plays cougarmon, who drew a picture on his little white board of murasamemon's digitigrade leg with an arrow pointing to the raised heel. ive NEVER before felt such kinship with a complete stranger in my entire life. this man GETS it. this man UNDERSTANDS.
As mentioned in part one, we're doing a small time skip towards many years later, because that's where the Galena and Daisuke story picks up again.
I mention in the headcanon page (in the second part of Sasami's life story) that Sasami, the Tenchi gang and both groups of Digidestined eventually find themselves in space, almost doing a repeat of Tenchi Universe's Space Arc. Almost being the keyword, because it's obviously very different but the vibes are there--one difference being that, again, since this is the version that has Ken in the Galaxy Police, initially he is hunting Sasami and co to capture them after Sasami declares war on the Juraian Empire.
(Don't worry if you're confused, just...either read the thing or don't worry about it lol, it's background context, is all. As is the following: )
But before Ken actively starts his "duty", they were all being very secret and sneaky people on Jurai, trying to get rations and stuff before figuring out what the hell to do next. Both Daisuke and Ken go off together on their own when everyone splits up, and well, stuff happens (no sex) and yes I know what happens but this is getting long, bro, so once again I am skipping to the cool end where Taichi and some others are yelling at Daisuke and Ken to get on the ship, Daisuke and Ken in an alley that leads to nowhere, and turns out it was on purpose that Ken led Daisuke here, telling him to take care and that he'll always care for him. Gives him his gun and tells it to use it on him if Daisuke ever needed to. Daisuke doesn't get it--why would he need to shoot Ken--and either way he really hates guns, so why the entire spiel--and then Ken kisses him goodbye (with Taichi and everyone doing the Tim Allen noise reaction) and pushes him off onto the ship.
Yay :)
Then the hunt starts.
After a certain point, Daisuke looks over the gun Ken gave him. Jammed in the hole of the barrel is a crumpled note. In Ken's handwriting, it details instructions on how to get to a planet called uh something or other I still haven't figured out a good name. But Daisuke's gotta get there!! Because there's something important there!!! Coordinates and everything needed to get to the planet are given too by Ken, which makes everyone wonder about how he got this information and why it has to be Daisuke who has to go there principally.
They find the planet after a while, land on it. From appearances, the city they landed in seemed similar to Jurai in terms of lots of greenery and ancient-looking Japanese moods, but the general structure was more ancient European, combined with a sort of hustle culture and consumerist tourist atmosphere. In short, it's a very busy planet.
But the people seem nice enough when they drop the acts. So far.
The gangs split up in groups, both to ask around if anyone knows Ken and to check out the city. After all, if he didn't tell them what the hell they were there for, then they might as well enjoy the place too. Daisuke's group, featuring Yamato, Hikari and Sasami, find themselves a bit pooped after a few hours. Sitting in an open table area, buying from a kiosk, they try to figure out what to do. Maybe bully Ken via email and taunt him into coming here? No, that'd just make things worse, considering what his current position is. Maybe Sasami can seduce him like a real old school Hollywood spy to get more information from him!
Everyone looked at Sasami weirdly when she suggested that.
Then Daisuke hears a familiar bellow in the distance.
For a second, he blinks, thinking he's hallucinating or something. Lots of people here are yelling and bellowing, trying to get people to come to their establishment or booth.
But he hears her again.
Still sounds as clear and youthful as she did many years ago. He gets up from the table, to everyone's confusion. Everyone stares at him as he looks like he's searching, and follow him when he gets further away. Her voice gets closer the more he goes in one direction, until he arrives to a mostly empty area.
There she was: Galena with an updated version of her hybrid pushcart/wagon. She's sitting behind a little arch, looking pleased as punch with herself. She looked a little fuller body-wise, but not much difference. Some people would look over her wares this time around, it seems but no one seemed to stop, preferring to walk and see and keep on walking.
He kept walking until he reached her. She'd been in selling mode, so she greeted him normally and hadn't realized it was him...Not until she looked up at her and fell silent. Like a goober, he said hello because he assumed, fairly in his defense, she would not recognize him at all. don't let her see the paunch--
He didn't really expect her to not say anything for a bit. The air got awkward, not until she stood up and wondered if it was really him. He was surprised she recognized him, and even more surprised when she started to tear up. Talking about how she'd waited so long to see him again. How she'd hoped he would go look for her one day. And he was here, here in front of her.
He was a little lost on what she meant, but stayed still regardless when she reached out for her and embraced him. Crying on his shoulder. He felt warm and tingly, one might say, and cautiously held her too.
Yamato, Hikari and Sasami stayed behind, with the first two confused about the entire thing. Sasami was surprised by this entire coincidence. She wondered if perhaps this was Ken's real intention all along.
A nearby older woman sees what's happening, asks the group if they happen to know Galena. Sasami answers, which takes the other two aback. The older woman explains that for the past year or two, Galena has been living on this planet after her native planet, Peri-Peri, was destroyed. As far as the woman knows, she's the only survivor only by sheer luck and she doesn't even know yet how she survived. Galena doesn't talk about life before this planet. Never sells much either, which begs the question of how she can sustain herself here--but she never complains, never even indicates she hates her current predicament. Never a malicious tone or cynicism the few times she talks to people; just bright and cheery.
Skipping a bit again, but Galena basically joins The Spacefaring Adventuring Peoples on the ship and Daisuke basically dotes on her so much, everyone just stares at him at one point to see if he even notices anyone else anymore. She helps cook for everyone, and everyone giggles at how Daisuke immediately put her up in his room, waggling eyebrows at him with every insinuation.
He only gets it when she makes the same insinuation in private, except she almost...sounds like she wants it? But not really either because she definitely also insists that if she stays in the same room, his reputation will be affected and she doesn't want to do anything and it's only when both Daisuke and Veemon wear her down enough to convince her that yes, it's FINE, BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT IN THE SAME BED. Veemon and Daisuke sleep on the floor while she gets the nice bed.
Diasuke eventually learns what happened to her, when they're alone and he wants to know what really happened all those years ago. She'd meant to come the day they were going to cook together, but some family and representatives from her planet had come to pick her up--the population that resided on the side of her planet had the equivalent of a road trip for whoever chose to do it (I guess the closest analogue is rumspringa but also not really?) for a determined amount of time. She'd almost skipped out on her people because she went on this trip for longer than allowed--and partly because she ended up evading them also by accident--and to be honest, she admits, she wasn't paying attention because she wasn't in any hurry to go back to her planet. She liked the freedom she had to choose to travel. She liked seeing different worlds, different foods, different people. "Even the weird ones like men kissing men...And women kissing women!...And men kissing men and women!" (Daisuke tugs at his collar, metaphorically.)
She only had an interest in food because she felt the government would accept it as a reason for her request. She didn't think anything else would work.
She never felt right on her planet. Something about how the atmosphere feels wrong within the culture...And her trip somewhat showed her the issue. Even though she would never seek out the salacious or the frivolous, even if she were a not very exciting person--she still enjoyed sitting down by the beach, for example, and taking in the ocean breeze and meditating. She enjoyed walking and people-watching. She enjoyed trying to bring to the masses food she grew up with. She liked freedom, the very freedom of walking alone to a bus stop just to wait for it. She was free to choose to run away from situations that may have been dangerous or free to talk to anyone.
She was not free like that in her town. After a certain age, men and women are socialized to interact separately as the men worked and the women house-worked. Men and women only interact together after the day's work is over, in their houses, with their children, with men as head of the house and women subservient to them and their children, if any. It was time for Galena to become a proper woman, like everyone before her.
She lamely protested, as such, when she came home. Perhaps she could be an exception, like some aunts had been. But the aunts had been barren, thus their exception. Galena has no indication of being barren, per her records. She could argue further but she knew deep down it didn't matter; the desire of one person never outweighed the needs of society. The desires of a man to marry her and her family to marry her off outweighed her few scraps of individuality that she had to get rid of anyway.
She considered mentioning Daisuke as her reason (to stop or stall the entire thing) but she quickly saw how her soon-to-be-husband appeared to care for her. Something in her felt guilty and thus, she kept quiet and accepted her fate.
It all happened so fast. The ceremony, the rituals, the party. The party was the last time she would experience a co-ed existence, yet she was already seeing her husband quickly accustomed to a life of manly affect, only remembering about his wife only when convenient. Perhaps...only slightly more than the usual. Even her own father had loved her mother a bit more to keep dancing with her on their wedding night.
He'd become aggressive when they went to their new home, created and structured by the state. Already assuring her of their new life, and reminding her of the ways of the land. She should count herself so lucky she was able to get married on time.
Whatever soft virtue he had before, minimally at that, appeared to have been a facade, she realized. Intercourse was done according to his whims. No romance, not even a passing kiss to feign some feeling. She doesn't feel comfortable in saying this but she felt violated. It had to be the only way to describe how she felt afterwards, and for the rest of her marriage. It was one thing to accept her fate; it was another to wish she hadn't. But a trick that made her get through it was thinking of Daisuke, substituting for him mentally whenever certain things happened.
Daisuke gulped. He was already feeling something about the whole thing--annoyance, anger, already wanting to take a time machine and go back and stop all of this. But that Galena went this far kinda made him...think a lot.
(Somewhere in the distance a flashback probably plays of teen Daisuke telling teen Ken how the hell love works.)
Soon she was pregnant and the thought of birthing a child in her situation weighed on her. She almost didn't want a child, not because she didn't want to be a mother, but because she had known a life where the child could have been free. Still, she makes sure to take care of herself and soon after, a son was born: Leyuz.
Here, she finally takes out a necklace that Daisuke had already noticed at times: sometimes at night or whenever he stumbled onto her when she was alone, she'd almost...pray to someone. A conversation, a lament, a prayer, an apology, a conversation; it varied. But always she ended it with an assurance to someone that she wouldn't leave them behind. The photo in the necklace is of her son: chubby-faced, a face not like hers but a smile like hers, and the same color of warm bronze skin as she. He seemed happy, genuinely happy.
And as Galena put it, a boy too good for her.
Whenever her husband wasn't around, she'd tell Leyuz stories about her past life. Always with some moral. Whenever her husband was around, she performed her duties, but always having to listen to him undo the work she'd done, teaching his son about the ways of their side of the planet--some details too soon. It almost felt as if her husband was trying to make sure her son would become like him or worse. But the town liked her husband, though it was easy when he wore two masks in his daily life. The town never saw him mistreat his wife as he did in private over her cooking, especially in front of their son. Only one of his co-workers saw an indication of it by sheer coincidence when he visited their home, and for a moment, she thought perhaps some degree of dignity might come her way. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Her own mother found out and instead asked Galena to please try harder next time and to not have her head suddenly in the clouds. She doesn't have to work as hard as her husband has to, after all.
One day she was telling Leyuz another story, of a crane stuck in black mud. How Galena saw brave people try to release it and clean it from its jail. She was too far away and couldn't leave her cart alone, lest it'd be stolen. But she had to admire how the crane stayed put until all was said and done, and only left once she'd deemed herself to leave.
Her husband came home right when she finished, and beckoned her for a kiss. She did as such, only after giving a book to Leyuz. The extra attention made her husband ask-whisper if Galena loved their son more than she did her husband. She blinked, answering yes innocently, because she gave birth to Leyuz. Why wouldn't a mother love the child more than the spouse?
A slap to the face sufficed as his answer.
In reality, she was pretty much only living for Leyuz. If she didn't have her son, she wouldn't have been sure if she would be here right now with Daisuke. She didn't want to imagine what would have happened if she never gave birth to a child quick enough.
Daisuke starts to feel guilty, second-hand guilt. If he hadn't given up so easily, if he hadn't accepted that of course he was left behind by someone with whom he felt a deep connection, but still a different kind than with Ken's--hell, if he had fought a little harder his own esteem issues, would he have been able to find her?
(He also wishes he could punch the guy who married her. A lot.)
Then again, he'd been getting the feeling that she was not perceived by anyone except him, for reasons he still can't figure out. She traveled all over with a GIANT-ASS CART and nobody barely registered that on the planet where the Galaxy Police Academy was located!
But a question comes to him: if Peri-Peri was destroyed, then where's Leyuz? They should look for him, shouldn't they?
Galena looks at him, with the emotion out of her eyes and face. She looks to the necklace again, caresses it.
Leyuz was a good boy. After that slap in the face, Galena did her duties. Then she walked to their room and sat quietly. She wanted her mind to go blank for a bit, if only so she can reset and continue on. But her son came in, scurrying up to her. Asked her for another story. She told another one.
After the end, he told her that he would take care of her when he grew up, because he would be stronger then. Men are supposed to protect women. And he loves his mother, so that's double strength.
Perhaps the work wasn't so undone after all.
This is getting too long AGAIN, so while Galena does finish her story, I'll try summarizing as such--
Peri-Peri was destroyed by random forces of nature known as jesus christ why are there so many asteroids suddenly. The planet's surface was pretty much destroyed, leaving in its wake everyone dead--except for Galena, who'd been working in the cellar for the day. Leyuz was outside, somewhere. But Galena still received injuries and a mental strain from the happenings, evidenced by how she walked like a zombie on the surface, in part because she had searched for Leyuz for days on end. A random ship (the equivalent of ambulance or Red Cross or whoever?) passed by and managed to find her (and only her) on their radars, taking her aboard. She hadn't spoken much but emoted drastically when told that it was a good thing they found her, because nearby planets had been warned of Peri-Peri's impending destruction due to the destabilization of the planet's core from so many hits. She had to be taken away to save herself. She screamed for her son, long after the planet went kablooey after an hour or two.
Time passes, she finds herself wandering planets. it occurs to her to try selling food again. But much like Daisuke years ago, she doesn't really think about her family or her planet ever again. Except for her son, to whom she apologizes every night and talks to him.
After this, other events include Daisuke acting to keep up her morale, acting as if yes her son is "alive" (in the metaphysical sense) and even helps set up an altar for her with a blown-up photo, so she can talk to Leyuz better. Ken's involvement in this whole thing, meanwhile, was more that he had been on the planet for a robbery case and only saw Galena by pure chance. He went up to her and asked her certain questions that then led him to put the plan in motion, the plan mentioned waaaaaay up at the beginning of this post.
Galena thought he was a very nice man! (Daisuke once again tugs at his collar, metaphorically.)
Galena also feels guilty because she wants Daisuke but moving on would mean erasing the memory of her son. After a chat, Daisuke convinces that you know, just talk to her son. In his head, it's her decision and sure, he doesn't see it the way she does--clearly if the son was a spirit somewhere, he'd know that she was overthinking everything as she tended to do. So in her head she needed to be at peace with that.
And then they have sex YAAAAY!!!! (LMAO)
Now, I'm just kinda skipping a lot more now, because well, otherwise we'd be here all day and then I just might as well write the entire book here. A quick note that when they all come back to Earth, she stays on Earth and because in Japan and America, you need a gorram last name, she decides to take Motomiya because it's the only one that she can think of that would be useful. Hilarity ensues because she doesn't realize what that means on a deeper level. Still doesn't change it though!
She also works at the ramen store/s, yaaaay.
Other than the above, the other major thing is that she eventually realizes how Ken looks at Daisuke sometimes. And she is very.
Very.
...Displeased.
She likes Sasami, for the record. Cannot believe she gets to talk to her and to Ayeka and to Tenchi and to YOSHO--Even after Sasami's abdication of the throne, she still calls Sasami "her highness." She can't believe that Sasami is very kind, so she....doesn't even blame Sasami for anything. In fact, in one face-to-face confrontation, asked for by Galena of Ken, at one of Daisuke's ramen shops--Galena makes it clear that Ken is disrespecting Sasami with his intent and his feelings for Daisuke. She doesn't get men with men but live and let live...But surely, he has enough self-awareness to realize that once you are with a woman, it's just her, right? No need to keep making googly eyes at Daisuke. No need to ruin Daisuke anymore.
Of course Ken stews silently internally, given that he hasn't done anything with Daisuke in some time--less so because there's been no permission given, and he never forced the issue even when he discusses it with Daisuke at times yet again and again, and Ken almost lets slip the real deal with Galena but...He can hear it in Galena's voice. Even if she wanted to be free of the black and white of her planet, she's still thinking in black and white, in binary, and could come close to just being prejudiced and who knows maybe she's also jealous.
We never really know if she really was jealous or if she was simply someone who could understand Daisuke's previous...inclinations and simply saw them as inclinations that should now be done and over with, now that he and she are together now. The past is past, just as her past is past now.
(Ken is Going Through It during this time, and it's one of the few times where he himself worries if the Dark Seed will reactive, because of all these emotions...)
Daisuke never knows about this conversation, both agreeing to keep it a secret and to keep a secret that basically Galena has given Ken the ultimatum of "be his friend and jogress partner above all else, but avoid all other intimate contact." And to not hurt Sasami anymore. Ken agrees, obviously. He deals with this new agreement in his own way, with Sasami's help. it involves ken in shibari--
They all come back to this point of contention in various ways along the next year or two, but that's for another time!
...oh yeah I forgot the similarities lol.
Uh, well, I don't know if it was clear with some of Galena's story, but both Galena and Sasami have some self-esteem issues about their respective schooling and intelligence levels. And both ended up with wife guys (positive) who also love each other, yippee. But that's also for another time!!
This post brought to you by me talking to a fellow kendai connoisseur a while ago about a great big question related to Daisuke Motomiya:
(I blanked out the name since it's a private account.)
Besides answering with the obvious Daisuke x Hikari, Daikari, ship--a ship that in my experience sometimes pops up alongside Kenyako--I answered that to my knowledge, there had been two fics that shipped Daisuke with a woman. At the time I blanked on them but now that I'm sitting down in the Writin' Zone, I can link them.
One is by ackbangy, a daiken fanartist who wrote a very good daiken fic where, well, Daisuke does have a relationship with a female OC. You can check the masterlist linked in the previous sentence, although I have to point out that the tumblr links lead to an old url--so I recommend right-clicking the "on tumblr" link, copy/pasting it into the address bar and replace "acktacky" with "ackbangy." Chapter 7 is also NSFW on the tumblr version while censored on FF.net. For some reason, the last chapter was never linked on the masterlist, so here it is on FF.net. The entire fic with all nine chapters is also on AO3.
The other fic is a four chapter NSFW fic series, written by ahiddenpath. Here's the AO3 link and the FF.net link. I liked these, and also quite enjoyed the additional pride edits. For Daisuke specifically however, the first chapter is Daisuke with a female OC and the fourth chapter is with Miyako.
(Sidenote: despite Daisuke/Miyako having its fair share of shippers, I could never find anything randomly for them? Only this DaiMiya Alliance site in Japanese. "Doumei" sites, aka alliance sites, were basically like a hybrid webring//directory site.)
(Sidenote 2: I'd like to think Nat-chan from Door to Summer is a possible contender, based on my osmosis knowledge. But I also haven't checked out the audio drama properly, so I'm not counting her for now, and didn't count her in my replies.)
I obviously added this at the end of my replies, because if anything, I am a filthy shill:
And considering how long I've had this idea for Daisuke, yes, I really did kinda realize at that moment that I accidentally made Ken and Daisuke have some similarities with relationships in the digimuyo crossover, right down to non-Earthling ladies lol.
I was asked about my idea and since I knew it would be a very long twitter thread--I decided to write it out instead! Because of course, it came out very long. So long, this is part 1 of 2. This took me 3-4days to write, thank you Daisuke and Galena. Besides, I needed to do it eventually for the actual website's headcanon page :y
A lot of the ways I come up with names and related stories is really just kinda tinkering around in my head until I come up with something that sounds nice. Sometimes I do look for names on purpose for added symbolism (three of my fictional children were done this way) but most times, it's just my brain going "here's a name, sound good?" So that's where Galena and Peri-Peri come from.
Imagine my surprise when I looked up "Galena" a few months ago and learned it actually exists as a name! Thank you, Carl Jung and collective unconsciousness, I guess lol.
But who's Galena?
Before I answer that, I'd like to say that I'll be approaching this the way I do all the other headcanons--which is "I shoulda written this like a headcanon but instead I made it a semi-fanfiction piece." Because I no longer fight the urge lmao. The other thing is that...
A couple of my digimuyo ideas involve the idea that Ken would be both a detective for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police and for the Galaxy Police. Is it possible for one dude to have two police licenses? I don't know! I haven't been able to find any indication that it's possible, outside of a random Quora thread! (It's also very hard to look up information on the deeper machinations of the Japanese police and detective system, unless you know specific Japanese terms...) Sure, it's fiction, I could just say whatever, have fun, Ichijouji, it's science fiction mixed with fantasy--but one shouldn't suspend disbelief that much XD (Only Ginji Kawai is allowed to do that.)
The reason I say this is because it's due to Ken's training for the GP that Galena comes into the picture.
I haven't been able to make up a separate version of Galena in case the thing above doesn't work out. Mainly because she does not work without the initial off-planet visit from Daisuke, and the tension inherent between Daisuke, Galena and Ken "I have two hands, what is the issue" Ichijouji. (And Sasami, sorta.) Maybe that demonstrates my lack of brain skill as a writer, but well, you can determine that for yourself after you read my spiel...
NOW WHO'S GALENA????!
The first time we meet Galena, it's when Daisuke is visiting Ken at his apartment during Galaxy Police Academy days (okay this is the part where I say that I should probably check Tenchi Muyo GXP for how the GP Academy works, but also no, I don't wanna, I got my own ideas, waa!)--a visit turned into caretaking, because Daisuke did not know Ken was heavily injured during a training session when he came to visit. But he's up for it, nobody else here knows Ken better than him and it would majorly suck to just up and leave your bestie at his worst moment!!!! (So far.)
So Daisuke cares for Ken. Daisuke also soothes Leafmon whenever he can. Ken is practically non-responsive at first due to the severity of his injuries, slowly getting some strength along the weeks. All the while Daisuke has to learn and adapt to the place, buying food for both of them, other necessities (he didn't plan on a long visit), and even if caretaking is tough, at least he has Veemon and he knows Ken will make it. Daisuke thinks it's a little weird that a lot of GP resources don't tend to be easily available to Ken, for some reason.
(The reason is prejudice against Earthlings, next question.)
One day, out the small window of the apartment, he hears, then sees a young woman pulling a kind of mechanical hybrid of a pushcart and a wagon. (I often think of the same vibe as piragüeros and their carts.) She's pulling it by two long straps, with both of her arms at the side. Daisuke's a little curious and alarmed at the same time--that cart really looks heavy--but her bellowing of her food wares makes him even more curious. When she settles close to the apartment building and starts setting up her shop, he keeps looking out, looking at the entire situation. It was one of the rarest times that Daisuke Motomiya stayed still enough to observe something. Veemon entertained himself in the meanwhile, and once in a while, would also look out along with Daisuke.
Another day, Daisuke gets hungry. There's a girl down there who's been selling her culinary wares with people passing by and not being interested in anything she's offering. He hasn't spoken much to anyone around here, outside of people at stores and whatnot. Ken's best attempts at conversations have just been mumbles and hand squeezes.
Daisuke is hungry.
He takes a chance--tells Veemon to stay behind and look over Ken along with Minomon. Veemon complains to no avail, before the door is quickly closed. Daisuke makes it down, tries to play it smooth. The woman was looking over her items for a second before she returns to her position, waiting in peace for a sale. She doesn't exactly notice him, not until he walks up to her by the side. And there she acts like any owner of a small cart trying to showcase her items.
He talks to her like he does to anyone else and he learns about all the food she has for sale. Names he's never heard of, ingredients he kinda recognizes and doesn't. His brain gets overloaded and the only thing he does know is that ONE of these things looks edible to his brain (okay they all sorta do but he can recognize faster the thing that looks like pudding), so he orders it. Stays standing near the cart to eat it, as she looks on.
He wolfs down the entire thing in less than a minute--wants more already. He's not an expert in outer space food, but he knows this is good, which makes it even stranger that nobody even bothered to try buying something from her.
She seems happy that he's happy, excited even. She's very innocent, not realizing any true intentions here.
This is the part where I skip stuff, mainly because I never could exactly get the segue to the first conversation down. But yes, they start talking, Daisuke basically visits her every day at lunch, trying each item every day. Names are exchanged--Galena, from a tiny planet called Peri-Peri, who's visited many other planets in her travels. From the extreme in nudist places to the isolated in frozen places, she's seen enough to be thankful for.
She also disassembles and assembles her shop every day, which means lugging that cart back and forth. Daisuke asks why, and she's confused as to what's the matter. He moves on, having learned a little about how she is: very innocent and naive, sometimes almost too innocent. At times she speaks as if she hadn't been socialized beyond a small village. At other times she speaks as someone who's never changed despite visiting so many places.
She's never visited Earth, mainly because it's one of the forbidden planets so declared by most major entities in the galaxy. Daisuke remembers something about the reason for that (99.9% seen as "primitive"), then gets pissed off lol. At one point, they talk shop about food lolololol. She's in awe of his studies and future career, almost sounding as if something like that wouldn't have been possible in her life--despite seemingly clearly having her own job and being pretty independent.
Meanwhile Ken slowly gets better. He doesn't talk much, seeming moody. But it's more moody over the whole situation that caused his injuries and less his friends. Daisuke makes him food and it's one of the moments Ken looks forward to, eating and talking or watching something. Ken obviously does talk to him, to Veemon. Holds Minomon close.
Ken notices Daisuke running off at lunch to talk to Galena though. Even sits by the window to stare at the two. From a certain angle, Ken looks like a wraith from the shadows.
And Ken will remember Daisuke's expression during these times.
I forgot to say it but obviously Veemon meets her at one point, which causes an extremely long-winded explanation--cut short by Galena offering Veemon free food lol.
One day it starts to snow. Daisuke's a little confused at the seasons in this place and it's still early. He decides to stay in bed a little longer, gets up and slides closer to Ken for warmth on Ken's bed. Ken stirs a little, sees and slides even closer. Daisuke doesn't notice and Ken is just fine with that.
The day before, Daisuke wanted to see Galena again--but this time, he wanted to try cooking with her. Her pushcart/wagon hybrid has a small space that can be brought out for cooking of varying degrees, and she was curious about Earth ramen, so she agreed. As far as he knew, she was coming again at lunch.
But Daisuke oversleeps. Ken lets him sleep. When Daisuke finally wakes up, there's only a few minutes before lunch ends. He panics of course and wakes Ken up in the process, but Ken only marginally moves. By the time he's fully awake, Daisuke's gone.
But he goes to the window again.
Daisuke goes out into the snow. It's still snowing, but it's all foggy and gloomy. Lots of snow. He checks the time; it's correct. He's not late, but...There's no indication that Galena's been here today. So he waits outside. Maybe she's late.
And he waits.
And he waits.
It's nightfall. She hasn't come. Ken hasn't budged from the window much, aside to stretch his legs or to go to the bathroom with help. Daisuke looks peeved from his view, and he almost wants to go out and ask what happened.
Daisuke leaves before any of that, though. And in Daisuke's case, he goes into town to ask about her. Someone has to have seen her or talked to her while she walked all over the place. But nobody has. Even the most kind citizens can't offer anything beyond a I've never noticed her.
So he goes back to Ken's apartment building when it's much later, when everything's dark and gloomier and still snowy. He looks over the area where her cart usually would be, but doesn't see anything. He doesn't feel like doing much. He goes up the stairs and inside the apartment. It's dimly lit with small bulbs, almost on purpose. There's food on the small desk that they used every time they ate, with Ken waiting by the window. He's kept himself warm, though he still gets up slowly and cautiously to greet Daisuke. He's about to explain the late dinner but Daisuke just slinks towards the bed and slumps in it, barely mumbling a good night.
Ken will remember this.
Really quickly, what happens after this is that a day or two pass, Daisuke and Ken have a small fight (with Ken masking perhaps some unknown jealousy really, really well) and then oops, angry, injured sex. And then they talk about that for a bit. And then Sasami finally makes it and walks up to the apartment building the next day. And then oops, she sees them having morning sex. And then other stuff happens!! Maybe more sex?!!!!! The Daikensami struggle is created!!!
After the above and in the interim and ever since, Ken doesn't push Daisuke about anything Galena or even their feelings about each other (with one or two exceptions). Sasami lives with this and with her own set of problems while also still being gay, Ken is happy continuing his career and live with Sasami while also still being gay, and Daisuke is happy to continue his own career, including starting it in America. (And also still being gay.)
(Sidenote: yes, it's very funny that Galena has a very funny similar cart-pulling story as Daisuke does. No, I didn't really do it on purpose. In fact, cue the "I just noticed it now" card...)
Daisuke never mentions Galena again since the night she disappeared.
Given that she was a wandering cook, Ken and Sasami assumed that maybe something happened and she simply left. That happens to travelers. But they don't bring it up to Daisuke, and nobody else back on Earth ever finds out about her.
We're doing a small time skip towards many years later, because that's where the Galena and Daisuke story picks up again. Part 2 can be found here!
I woke up with this random Valentine's idea, so I quickly drew it out! I genuinely can't tell what ship order applies here due to the nature of the "story" though, so...I tagged both daiken and kendai 😅
Today, I finished #needlefelting #ryoohki from the classic #manga and #anime series #techimuyo . I was going to finish her up on Sunday, but unfortunately plans have changed. luckily I got to finish working on her at the public library. I also finished another project today, which will be posted soon.
