Some great photos from Digit 1 last weekend.
The March Kings
K.AFKA are one of only a select few Korean acts to have their music available for purchase on bandcamp. It makes it much easier to find, but more importantly for the bands - easier to buy!
A friend of mine told me the Korean experience isn't complete without seeing Yamagata Tweakster play live at least once. I think he's right.
Sima Kim for Angle Magazine
Rock and Roll Radio played at SXSW this year, along with Love X Stereo and a few other Korean acts. Fun,
Yozoh is pretty established already. I like the chilled vibe on her 2nd album. It's good walking material!
The Blink 182 influence is pretty obvious, but they do it well.
Cranfield are on Mirrorball Music, and make rather nice dream pop-ish music. Let that chorus sweep through. Lovely.
It took me a whle to get around to listening to Fromm. I've seen her name mentioned a considerable amount over the last year, but something about the image made me think it would be just some more of Korea's coffee core style. This tune went down pretty well for me though!
Song of the week
After posting about The Killercutz the other day I spent a bit more time searching around and stumbled upon Ludistelo. One of the members of the former is involved in the latter, and I'm rather liking what they're doing now as well!
It reminds me a little of Le Galaxie from back home. Which is a damn good thing!
This song by The Black Skirts / 검정치마 from back in 2010 popped up for me on youtube again today. The artwork really makes me think of early Lightspeed Champion, and there's touches of the same in the sound as well.
I saw The Killercutz play the Platoon Kunsthalle in Seoul on New Years Eve 2012. They put on a great show, but there's been no activity online from them since April last year (that I can find.) I'm hoping they haven't broken up!
