Working as a group to present a sentence to the public was a very interesting experience. Our sentence began as a jab against the government and how bad decisions in international affairs as well as domestic issues have led to terrible outcomes. The original sentence was "An irresponsible security measure launches a national crisis." We wanted to present the sentence with a chant and posters, which carried on to our final video. The sentence and the overall tone would face some changes however; it became more comedic due to the meme-filled editing of the budget proposal video. After this, the sentence was changed to "A hilariously bad security measure launches a national crisis," and we decided to edit the video in a comedic approach to express that the government has made such bad decisions that it is funny.

The production of this video involved the creation of the posters. The design of the main red and blue poster was changed to be more simple, while the "SEND HELP" ones remained the same. Recording the video was probably the most humiliating part due it being in a public place and us having to repeat a politically charged chant. The chalk section was done elsewhere, and then the video was edited.

A major part of this project that really ties everything together is its online presence. We decided to upload the edited video to a YouTube channel with the name "LAUGH TILL THE END," signifying that though this protest can be seen as a humorous attack on the government, its message should still be taken seriously at the end of the day. The YouTube upload has a variety of related hashtags, a funny thumbnail, and attention-grabbing title. It was able to reach 37 views, 1 comment, and 8 subscribers to the channel in just an hour as well, which is good for engagement.

Overall, this project serves as a collaborative effort to present a statement to the world. In our case, this statement is meant to represent the bad decisions of the government which lead to troubles amongst the people. It is meant to be seen by anyone due to being chanted in public, written on a sidewalk, and posted online to go viral. Our sentence is one that many people can relate to.

For our project, we decided to create a banner and bring it into Planet Fitness to see how people would react to a more inclusive message about fitness and community. Instead of sticking to the usual "fitspiration" ideas you often see in gym culture, we wanted to promote body positivity, empowerment, and the idea that everyone deserves to feel strong and welcome in those spaces.

The design we came up with used bold images and wording meant to spark conversation and make people feel seen. To get a better sense of different experiences and attitudes toward fitness, we also interviewed some of the gym members. Hearing their thoughts on motivation, identity, and health helped us fine-tune our banner and gave us a better understanding of what community means in a fitness setting.

At the end of the day, this wasn’t just about putting up a banner — it was about trying to shift the atmosphere, even if just a little, and invite people to view fitness as something more inclusive and empowering. Our group felt good about the final result and proud of the way we pushed ourselves to step into a public space and start a conversation.

Final Documentation

For the Viral Interventions project, our group displayed the sentence through a projector. Our first location was the outside of fast-food place, but it was too bright outside for the video to be projected clearly. We went to a second location, which was Panera Bread. We set up the projector to face one of the walls and played the video for people to see. We also attempted to start an Instagram livestream on an account we created for this project. However, as we found out, an account has to be at least 30 days old to begin a livestream, so we had to rely only on the projector to display our sentence.

Statement:

For our Final Documentation we have given a link to a business LinkedIn we created for this project. Inside is a bio and video we made. In the the video it shows us dressed in medieval themed clothes and setting up a similar medieval-like market stand at a park. In the video our stall caught the attention of park-goers that successfully achieved the public interaction we wanted as we gave out "produce goods" made out of rocks and wood painted to look like real foods such as bread, fruits, and fish to try and spread the message to support small businesses over big corrupt major business with a sign of our made sentence: "Resist and Revoke Global Businesses". We also attempted to make an Instagram profile to promote our small business but it was immediately suspended.

Our final project was meant to represent how supporting small businesses helps revoke power from global businesses that take advantage of our systems. We created a small medieval business out of wire, cardboard, and fabric. We also painted rocks and wood to give out to customers at a local park. The rocks and wood being our produce was intentional and reflects how fresh food items are slowly becoming inaccessible to the general public.

When starting this project, we had a base idea of what to expect, which was to educate the public on the importance of small businesses. What we didn’t expect is that we’d leave it having learned a lesson ourselves. We experienced many trials while attempting to set up our stand, the wind was constantly knocking us down, and our foundations were falling apart due to the unsteady ground. We almost gave up entirely that day, planning on coming back during better weather. The thing that made us decide to stay for a bit was a little kid coming up to our stand and asking us what we were doing. Although the circumstances were hard it was the community around us that gave us the motivation to persevere, and that made us realize the real reason small businesses needed a resurgence. The community that is built around small businesses makes groups of people stronger as a whole and allows us to persist in the face of challenges.

This video was created to bring attention to an issue that often goes unnoticed but affects many people. As college students entering and stepping into a new environment, it’s important for us to recognize the power we have to create and develop change—even through the small actions we make everyday. The video uses visual storytelling to engage the public eye and spark conversation among them. Our goal was to make something thought-provoking and relatable, especially for other students like us. We were able to go to Tamiami Park where would set up our cake livestream. We set up everything on the table and set up the camera right above the cake itself. We live streamed the cake while we were also interacting with the live audience. The audience consisted of friends and family. Our quote was in relation to AI and the questions that were asked came from AI overview in google to relate to the quote. The livestream lasted for a little over an hour. While there was an audience in the live, there was also an audience in the park. There was people walking/jogging but and a person sitting at the picnic tables as well and had interacted with some of our group members. We had a bumble where we were also able to have people communicate with us on. There were multiple social media accounts that we had, one in which unfortunately got banned. There were advertisements that were made and posted onto our social media platforms to get people to come and join our live. This project was really nice to work on and I had a fun time with my fellow group members.

For the final project, we decided that the best way to gain the attention of the public would be by posting 100 flyers all over Miami. Each of the four members of our group was tasked with posting 25 flyers themselves across Miami. We decided to leave the flyers without our information so that it could be completely anonymous. We also thought that it would be good if we posted this to twitter.com. That way we would gain a lot of online attention. We chose Twitter because it’s a predominantly Republican dominated social media app and since we want the Republican Party to be our primary demographic and to see our flyers, we posted this flyer and GIF on Twitter. We ended up using four hashtags involving the four words we chose. #Government #Tariff #Education #Anxiety. These are big trigger words for the algorithm that’s used on Twitter.

Viral Interventions: Final Documentation (FINAL)

Statement: For our final project, we hosted a livestream showing our store-bought cake to our online audience and eating it. This project was actually more fun than I thought, especially because we got to eat cake! It was also nice to interact with our audience by asking them silly questions like, “if you could be any animal, which animal would you be?” The biggest challenge was the scheduling; it was difficult to find a time where we could all meet. However, we were able to solve this issue by video calling each other through FaceTime and discussing plans that way. My favorite part of this project was definitely eating the cake! Additionally, collaborating with my group was fun because we were able to combine all our different ideas into one concept. I believe we were successful in reaching a wide audience; however, it would’ve been better to provide people with more notice to join the livestream.

Our purpose for the project was to show how big businesses globally push out small businesses, and how important it is to support them. Back in the Medieval Era, there was such struggle and strife as many break their backs to support themselves and family while the lords live off their labor. Much like today. Yet, the Medieval era showed vibrance and diversity as many small businesses thrived. This was why we built our stand, which resembled a stand from the Middle Ages.

We wanted our project to be daring, after all our words “Resist Revoke Global Businesses” was daring enough. That was why we chose a public space like the park to disrupt such an open area, and have people question their everyday lives.

Since corporations notoriously pump microplastics and toxicity into our food, we wanted to create a commentary on that. Our food was ironic. We sold rocks and wood painted as oranges, tomatoes, and bread. These were inorganic things disguised as organic, a way to show the irony of what these big businesses sell to us that they label as “food.”

This project was not only eye opening for those who approached our Medieval stand, but for us as well. It made us realize how much small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and how we must resist global businesses and revoke them from making us play into their corrupt monopoly.

FINAL DOCUMENTATION

Our project seeks to challenge the everyday expectations of public interaction by distributing fake money embedded with a bold message concerning the current tariff situation in the country. By choosing a busy public space, we aim to reach a wide audience all at once and observe their immediate, unfiltered reactions. The money functions as a tool of disruption—catching people off guard and inviting them to pause, question, and reflect. To document the authenticity of their responses, we considered capturing these moments discreetly, turning real-time reactions into raw insight.

In these interactions, we used statistic-based questions to confront people with facts in a direct, impactful way. Numbers are universal and difficult to ignore, making them a powerful entry point into deeper dialogue. Our goal was to bring an unexpected message into a familiar environment, pushing the public to confront uncomfortable truths in the middle of their daily routines.

On social media, we amplified the experience using inverted colors and graffiti-inspired typography to give our posts a rebellious and urgent aesthetic. Instagram served as our main platform, helping us extend the reach of our message beyond the physical space and into the digital one.

Personal Statement: This project served as a challenging yet entertaining experience for me. I felt moved by our original sentence, "an irresponsible security measure launches a national crisis", as I think it effectively captured many of our thoughts regarding social issues within our country and current policies regarding immigration, and I was strongly connected to this topic as somebody who migrated to the United States from another country myself. The brainstorming and development phases of this project were certainly difficult, as we often cycled through different ideas and proposals. Eventually, we decided to further improve the previously selected sentence into "a hilariously bad security measure launches a national crisis" as we thought it was a more effective reflection of the comedic tone that was intended for the project. The idea behind this 'comedic tone' was to indicate a 'so bad that it is funny' sentiment regarding our ideas, as well as to attract and entertain younger audiences that frequently utilize social media by making use of popular memes. The creative process of the final response itself was split into two parts: a creative phase, and a presentation phase. For the creative phase, we spent time painting and creating the posters that the presenters are holding in the video. For the presentation phase, we travelled to the parking lot of a Publix and protested by chanting our sentence. For the viral aspects of this project, we decided to create a YouTube account and post our response on YouTube, and made an effort to gain traction by making use of hashtags, as well as sharing the video with other people. Overall, despite the challenges, this project served as not only an educational and enjoyable experience for us, but we also hope that our message can genuinely reach people who are facing issues involving security measures and the immigration crisis.
