Great message! Take a listen. We will all go through heartache and loss at some point in our life and Pastor Rick Warren shares some great reminders of how God blesses and comforts those with a broken heart.
Winter Snow - Audrey Assad and Chris Tomlin
I absolutely love this song. I have been listening to it on repeat for the past few days . What a great reminder of how Jesus humbly came into the world to save us. :)
InTouch Ministries
God knows exactly what I need and when to catch my attention. I have a bad habit of throwing my mail on my table and not getting to it. Honestly it has been a really tough year for me emotionally and spiritually. This morning I found this envelope from InTouch Ministries on my table that was sent however long ago. I opened the envelope and it automatically caught my attention. This is something I have been needing; healing from emotional wounds.
“I want to remind you that we serve a God who can sympathize with us in our weaknesses (Hebrews 4:15). All He asks us to do is trust Him daily for our needs (Matthew 6:34).” -Charles F. Stanley
I subscribe to InTouch and I find it to be very encouraging. I would definitely recommend other people subscribing as well.
If you are interested, you can subscribe by going to www.intouch.org, clicking on “read” and subscribing to get free monthly devotions, articles, and exclusive gifts. You can also donate to support the ministry if you feel called to.
Listening to this song as I prepare for a good night's rest. :)
Time Out
I have decided to take a time out and shut down my heart momentarily.
I have had so much on my mind lately that I started searching for ways to help me clear my head. Here are a few things I found. Hope it helps some of you.
"I Will Wait For You" - Jeanette
Psalm 4:8
Near or Far - Carissa Rae
This is one of my favorite sweaters. :)
God looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. —Psalm 53:2
It is comforting to know that Jesus can calm the storm that we are facing in just a moment. In life we will face many storms that make us tremble and shake our spirits. Whether it is the loss of a dearly loved one, poverty and homelessness, an addiction that we are drowning in, depression, rejection, or other suffering that is too overwhelming for us to handle, God sees and He will not turn His back on His children.
Some people get to the point of devastation where they feel like there is no hope and feel that God has lost sight of them. In this particular situation that we read in the bible, I can only wonder how the disciples must have felt. They stated "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" which could lead me to believe that they were upset and felt that Jesus did not care about what was happening to them. It was in this moment of their doubt that Jesus stood up and rebuked the wind and the waves, completely wiping out the storm. Next, we see that Jesus replies by saying "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" The disciples were terrified because they did not realize what massive power Jesus has.
Sometimes I think we are very much like the disciples. In the midst of our own sufferings, we become overwhelmed and fearful, and forget to trust in Jesus. Jesus has never done anything wrong to make us doubt Him. In fact, if there's anyone we can fully trust, it is Jesus. He deserves every ounce of our trust.
Do you have faith that He can calm the storm you are in?
How You lift up my spirits, sway me to smile, and take my breathe away with the beauty of Your works.
