I’ve come across a theory—one that I don't think is discussed much in the EAH fandom—suggesting that Apple’s mother doesn't actually like her and never really wanted to be pregnant; instead, she only had Apple to continue the White family legacy and the line of Snow Whites, and to maintain their status. I actually find this theory somewhat plausible. Snow White points out her own daughter's flaws in a "gentle" way—like calling her a "mistake," but affectionately—and stops Apple from wearing glasses in public, even though she needs them daily for her health. She also criticizes Apple's blonde hair, which has made Apple insecure. There’s a part in one of the *Ever After High* books—I can't recall exactly which one—where Baba Yaga views Apple as a disappointment to society, as if she shouldn't exist or should never have been born. Furthermore, have you ever stopped to think that Apple might be the only blonde Snow White? That would break a massive cycle, yet it’s completely ignored just to preserve the bloodline.
