EAH Wonderland will always be my favorite adaptation. i normally talk about fairytales here but i’d be remiss not to mention—i’m the Blondie Lockes of AiW adaptations. there has never been one that’s “just right” for me.

and i honestly think that’s because EAH spoiled them all for me forever. when i read AiW as a child i thought it was whimsical and weird and funny, just like how it’s represented in EAH. but when you go actually looking for other adaptations in the wild you get hit with loads of stuff that is… not that.

ofc i’m not saying those retellings and reimaginings are bad, but they’re not what this Alice fan is looking for. some of the most popular adaptations give Wonderland a dark, chilling edge—horror is probably one of the most common genres to retell it in. i can understand why, but i just don’t like it. i want my fun and nonsense. i want my wonder.

W2W is not my favorite EAH special and i didn’t actually love the look of Wonderland there (mainly the colors and visuals). but when it comes to the logic of the world, they totally understood the assignment (as did Shannon Hale, which tends to go without saying but i'll say it anyway, because i love A Wonderlandiful World): it's clever and silly and just a bit unsettling. but it isn't creepy in the way a lot of adaptations are.

the dialogue, Lizzie’s garden, the chaos that ensues when you put the Wonderlandians together—i’ve yet to read another take on AiW that does it so well :))

Okay, I have a topic about the Ever After High characters that makes me extremely curious. Certain characters no longer have both parents together; it's always either the mother or the father who is present. For example, Apple's father is mentioned when Snow White says, "Too bad you inherited your father's blond hair." It was something like that; I don't remember that part very well, but we can say that Apple has both parents together. Briar also has both parents, Raven also has both parents mentioned, as do the Evil Queen and the Good King. But what about those who don't have both parents together? Who is Maddie's mother? Who is Faybelle's father, Kitty's father, Lizzie's father, Melody's mother, who is the Duchess's father, considering that in the Swan Lake story the Duchess's mother doesn't marry the prince? Who is Blondie's father? (Well, there's a theory that she's adopted, of course). Furthermore, something that intrigues me a lot is knowing who Cupid's biological parents are, although I don't include her in that category. Actually, that makes me very curious; I really want to know her parents' origins. I think the classic of classics (the comics) wasn't enough. If Ever After High hadn't been cancelled, we certainly would have had much more EAH content, and I think there would be more comics than just one.

in the books duchess hates raven because duchess has resolved to die as that’s whats told. she think that raven rebelling is incredibly selfish because she’s putting everyone at risk to get her own happily ever after, which duchess accepted she would never get at a very young age. i really liked watching them interact, they parallel one another in a way the tv show doesn’t cover. there are a lot of internal dynamics between the rebels/commoners/royals revealed in this story that the web series keeps out.

I don’t think they really bring up how horrible her story was. She was destined to die at like 22 and that the the conclusion to her story.

she never tried to steal the happy endings in ever after high either. she almost steals raven’s because she doesn’t know how terrible it really is(and grimm tricks her into it, of course) but she ends up not because she hurt her friends in the process and deep down she’s too kind to cause lasting harm on others because she’s actually very sweet just under a lot of pressure and stressed out because she is going to die in five ish years

her story gives a really good insight to how the characters interact with one another and she’s very interesting. i hate how the tv show portrayed her.

also her and lizzie are best friends and it’s really cute and there’s a lot of daring pining for lizzie but she dgaf about him
