An unexpected guest

Alex stood outside the office door as she went to raise her hand to knock but let it fall to her side. She had planned to talk with him about the hybrids but was too scared to even mention it to him. She had felt it was best to leave him alone and started to walk away from the door. As she walked, a voice came over her radio that stated she needed to meet with someone. Alex answered and started to walk to the front of the building. It was out of the normal for someone to ask her to handle most of the guests because between them both, she was more level-headed.

As Alex made her way to meet with the person, Liz walked up and started to explain some things to her as they walked. She nodded slowly as Liz spoke only for Alex to raise her hand to quiet Liz. The person who had been stopped by security was a long-term friend of hers. "No way in hell." Alex screamed as she rushed over to the person and tackled him in a hug. The two stood there for a moment as she let go of him. "So you are here now?" Rj asked and looked her over. Alex had a huge smile on her face as she locked arms with the person. "You have to meet my dinosaurs," Alex explained, all excited as she dragged him inside.

Liz just laughed as she followed behind them as she listened to Alex go on about her indoraptor when the two stopped suddenly. "You are dealing with that monster?" Rj asked as he turned to face her. "That thing is dangerous, and they have you working with it?". Alex nodded in excitement as she smiled. "He isn't that bad, really. A total softie" her voice was filled with just joy as she spoke about her baby. "Plus, sparkle loves having a friend who gets him." She was excited that she kept rambling on about her dinos.

The tiny raptor perked up again at the intruder of his space and let out a low growl.

“Easy there.” Gideon commanded before turning his attention to Alex.

“Yeah, definitely intriguing I’d say.”

He walked around his desk; arms folded as he leaned his back against it.

Confused by this entire turn of events, Gideon follows shortly after but not before giving a darting glance to Alex.

This uncertainty cause a wave of nervousness to overtake his mind but he dare not show it. His boots echoed his heavy footsteps down the empty halls until he reached his office.

“Well doc, I must say this is an unexpected surprise.” He stated, unlocking the door and inviting Dr. Wu into his office.

Henry nodded in agreement as he walked into the office and looked around for a moment. He pulled out a notebook and set it down on the desk in front of him. As he turned and looked at Gideon and waited for him to walk into the room with them. “Best close the door, Mr. Grant” Dr. Wu's voice carried the same professionalism that he had. Once the door was closed, he opened the notebook and showed the pages to Gideon. “Rj had picked up on radio signals and two voice.” Henry began, as he went on, “We picked up her parent's locations on Isla Sorna.” His hand moved to flip through the pages as he showed Gideon every time stamp and location marker. “They seem to be doing okay but kept trying to reach Alan Grant.” Each page Wu turned showed the same location but different times. Every third marker shows them as a different location until they moved back to the buildings.

Wu looked to the book as he flipped to the messages that they were able to pick up from the static. “We weren't able to get clear messages, but Rj could pick up Alan's name and 'we need help.” The pages were filled with different time stamps of when the messages were picked up and heard. “I strongly advise you to ask Alan about it.” Henry stated as he turned on his heels to walk to the door, “And I'd keep this from my daughter if I were you, but this is yours to do what you wish with.” he stopped for a brief moment and turned back to face Gideon when his eyes moved to the bed in the corner. "So, my daughter has the skills to make a halfway decent dinosaurs." Wu stated and left Gideon alone in his office.

“Who’s parents? What you on about, doc?” Gideon’s face was just as perplexed as his voice. His hands thumbed through the maps and intel but mind still was caught up yet. What did his uncle have to do with this? And why now?

Gideon let out a boisterous laugh at Rj’s statement which echoed through the paddock.

“This blokes hilarious!” He jested, looking back to Alex. Then his mood shifted. His eyes grew dark and his face stern as he stepped forward, grabbing Rj by the shirt collar; staring him down.

“Listen here. Ain’t nobody gonna talk to me like that, aight? She’s me best trainer and I’d watch your sorry little arse if I’s you, pal.”

With a devious smile, Gideon released Rj’s shirt and gave it a little pat before turning to Alex.

“You’s sure you aight, luv?”

Rj looked at Gideon and tiltes his head as he moved to tucked Alex behind him. Alex stood there in utter shock as she looked between the two males. "You act like I don't know she is the best." He growled as he kept Alex behind him. "I at least know how to listen when she says don't do something." Rj had noticed the scars that poked from her shirt. "Guys, please stop this fighting." Her voice was small, but if anything went wrong up here, both would end up in Trouble's claws. "I'm good, just making sure your boss here knows who he is dealing with." A smirk formed on Rjs face as he turned and faced Alex. "So these dinos of yours?" He asked as he glared over his shoulder.

"Yeah.... I mean, I can't really take to see Trouble. He isn't very friendly with strangers. " She smiled slyly as she spoke. "But there are tons of other things I can show you." Alex moved to walk past both of them as Rj followed behind her. As he walked by Gideon, he stopped for a second. "And I know how to keep her alive." His voice was low as he went back to following her

As they walked inside, Liz came around the corner and looked between them. She had this odd feeling when she turned to the door. "I take..." She went to speak when Alex nodded slowly as she walked by her. "I'm going to be getting scolded later." Alex stated and smiled a bit. Rj followed behind Alex as he smiled at Liz.

Once they were gone, Liz opened the door and joined Gideon. "I take protective best friend didn't take kindly to protective boss?" She asked softly, and she walked to him. "Maybe he can be your key to finally confessing to her. If he is the 'big brother' type, then he knows everything"

The game wardens face turned stiff as a sneer flashed on his lips at Rj’s hushed remarks as he watched them leave.

When Liz approached, he rolled his eyes at her comment as he strode past her; bumping into her with his shoulder. He scoffed and huffed as he walked after them, thinking about Liz’s comment to confess to Alex. It was crazy but also very true. Especially as of late, ever since the egg event. He not only fell in love with the tiny Dino but felt a deeper sense wash over him about Alex.

Gideon’s boots stomped heavily down the metal ramp stairs as he swung open the door, calling out as he locked eyes on the two.

“Oi, Get away from my girlfriend,cunt!” Gideon barks, jabbing a finger at this new man Alex was with. “You’ve no idea the things we do here and the risks we take. She saved my neck many times and I’d do the same for her! Just who you think you is to talk to me like that,eh?!”

Liz, in a quick hast, followed behind Gideon as she stopped dead in her tracks. Everything she had in her hands fell onto the floor as she heard him say the word "girlfriend". Her hands covered her mouth as she smiled and took off to the lab.

As Gideon yelled the word 'girlfriend' at them, Alex just stopped dead in her tracks and turned to face him. Everything about her just screamed she was in utter shock. "What did you call me?" Her voice was soaked in confusion and slight anger. Rj stood there and watched them as he looked down the hallway. Alex was just lost for words at this point until she realized he was right. "We do things differently here, Rj." She said calmly and turned to face her friend. He nodded slowly and watched her closely. Nothing can prepare them for anything, and this was one of them.

Alex turned on her heel and walked to the wall as she leaned back and looked at Gideon. "Where did this comment come from?" She asked quietly. Rj soon laughed lightly as he stood in the middle of the hallway and spoke, "You aren't dating. I can see it clear as day on her face." His hand moved to gesture to the shocked expression on Alex's face as he went on. "If she was really with you, she would have reacted differently." Alex knew he wasn't wrong, and it was true, but what has gotten into Gideon to cause this sort of reaction.

Rj returned his attention back to Gideon and smirked. "Who am I?" He asked as he leaned off the wall and close to the game wardens' ear as he spoke,"I'm the one who knows a dark secret your uncle is hiding." He straightened up and patted Gideons shoulder lightly with one of his hands.

Blushing, Gideon stopped dead in his tracks just as he reached them. Alex staring for an answer but he had no explanation at the moment.

“I-I meant you as my partner.” The game warden stammered. His expression of embarrassment turned to utter confusion as Rj’s words racked his mind.

“What you on ‘bout?” He snapped, turning his full attention to Rj.

Gideon was out making his rounds when he heard a familiar voice and stopped.

“What’s she doing-“

His ears picked up another voice;one that was unfamiliar to him and it was a man’s.

“Come on boy.” He motioned for Rex to follow him as they walked around the corner. It was Alex alright and she was showing this new person her dinos. His eyes locked on her hand touching this guys arm and something in him snapped.

“Stay.” He ordered sternly to the dog as he entered the paddock. Walking up the stairs, Gideon felt an uneasy settling in his stomach. His hand curled into a fist as he swung open the door to the catwalk and strode over to where Alex was.

“Oi, Who’s the bloody hell is this?!” He barked sharply, glancing between the two. He quickly moved and placed himself between them, facing the new guest as he poked a finger at him. “This area is restricted mate! You ain’t supposed to be ‘ere!”

A few days later.......

After a few hours, Alex had woken up and looked around her. She was confused has to how she end up in the med bay of the park. Everything that happened was a blur to her until she looked to her phone, her hand moved to grab it as she looked at the screen. Missed called, and texts from her father covered the screen as she clicked it off. Alex looked beside her and saw the normal stuff that was used to track her vitals.

Frost walked in and made his way over to her. Alex looked over to him and sighed lightly, knowing what will come next. Frost just sat beside her and check the tech beside her. "You have to get a better handle on yourself" he stated as he started to take everything off Alex's arm.

"I know, I know, but you guys won't understand." She stated as she watched him undo everything. "I didn't...." Alex went to speak when frost held up his hand to stop her. Alex soon went quiet and blinked slowly as her head fell to the side, confused. Once Alex was freed, Frost helped her out of the bed and walked with her to the doors. "Go do what you need to" he stated and turned away.

Alex nodded and thanked him as she started the walk back to her room to get a change of clothing. Normally, she only ever did that when under high stress. What happened to cause her body to just shut down like that. One thing was known, Alex wanted to get to her room before Gideon crossed her path.

Once in her room, Alex looked around for her notebook. She needed proof to back her claim just in case everything turned south. As she looked for it, she started to move things to her bags. If it turned south like she fears, it was best to be ready rather than waste time packing.

Frustrated, Gideon snatched the paper out of Liz’s hand and glared at her. He glanced down to see his signature but never recalled signing off on this project. He would have to look it over back in his office but for now he had to take care of his new pet.

Liz wasn’t entirely wrong about that. At the compound the entire purpose of this facility was to breed new dinosaurs but within certain perimeters. He never recalled signing off on this project and worse he didn’t recall ever discussing it with lab or Alex. Muttering curse words under his breath, he stormed out of the room and back towards his office to sort things out.

Happy 76th Birthday, Sam Neill!!

To celebrate Sam Neill’s birthday (as well as the 30th anniversary of Jurassic park, since it’s this year) I’ve made a gif set of his MOST ICONIC role in cinema, DR. Alan Grant.

Also, I saw the film in cinema last Saturday and it was SO BEAUTIFULLY AMAZING from the characters, plot, cinematography, soundtrack right to the end credits. It was such an incredible experience, and I still have SO MUCH UNDYING LOVE FOR THIS FILM AND SAM NEILL 💙💙
