Direwood’s March prompts put a little Irish on it with Celtic themed prompts. Best of luck on your prompts!

It’s tough when writing rps close. It’s understandable - things happen, activity slows, and members leave - it still sometimes leaves things feeling undone. I’ve had an rp close on me a couple of times. So I made Direwood, an rp with a premise that’s an inside joke: a magical place where lost souls end up. Direwood is designed to last long term, no matter how low the activity or how few people are writing. If you’ve got a character that still has a little life left in them, or if you’re just looking for a place to write until you find a new rp, come wander through the woods. Play an original character, play a new character, play an old character, play the character you love and want to keep going. Everyone’s welcome in Direwood.

Keep an eye out, February 19th is the Full Snow Moon as well as a Supermoon. Any werewolves are going to have to be careful with their control. The Supermoon is full of energy, any witches and warlocks who gain power from the moon will want to cast their spells that night.

Lisa Garnier | Lowe | MST
Lisa Garnier’s childhood was flashes of hotel rooms, public libraries, and the overprotective Mr. Pandect. It wasn't until she was older that she became aware of her powers as a hedge witch. Her power manifested in small things, her tea never grows cold, her linens always smell clean and fresh, and her home remedies always work. Mr. Pandect brought her to Direwood when she was about 14 and they've lived there ever since. Now that she's graduated she took over the Travelers Inn and the attached Cafe and Tea Room. While Lisa might be a tad naive at times, she has a gentleness and kindness about her that make her establishment unfailingly homey. Her familiar is Mr. Pandect.
Direwood’s February prompts are pretty sweet, hopefully they’ll be to your taste. Feel free to use these prompts to inspire candy coated conundrums for Valentine’s themed adventures during the month of February. Best of luck!
Direwood Main- First Month-ish
Hello everyone! Things are still getting set up slowly but surely. There’s a couple more characters to be added in this wave before its complete and I can start posting actual writing. Since this rp is meant to be for people who have had an rp close on them I’m hesitant to start adding a lot of characters based on other media, such as Derek Hale or Dean Winchester. I want players to feel like they can still bring their own character to the table as much as possible.
Once there is some actual written content, I will start to add more characters. This is a bit of an experiment in how to attract people to the rp and how to get started. It’s hard to be the first non-mod member, and so if there aren’t people, other people are unlikely to join. Right now I’m juggling getting things started with my work schedule and at least writing content for the characters I’ll be playing. Things will start going up soon, and I’m looking forward to meeting new players!
During an experiment by the Alverez vampire coven to open a portal out of Direwood, instead of creating an exit portal Ellen and Jo Harvelle appeared instead. The Alverez leader offered to bring Jo back as a vampire. The Alverez coven made efforts to teach Jo to acclimate to animal blood and control her hunger as it was small and doesn't like attention from hunters or larger covens. The struggle of accepting who she was now and coming to terms with her new instincts was sometimes too much for Jo, and even worse that she didn't feel monstrous - she felt powerful. It would take her time to decide who she was now. As the Harvelles are currently living at the Traveler's Inn, Jo works the night shift at the Cafe and Tea Room when she isn't spending time with her mother.

Due to the magic resonance of killing several hellhounds, Ellen Harvelle and her daughter's body passed into Direwood through a transportation spell, commissioned by the Alverez vampire clan. The Alverez leader offered to bring Jo back as a vampire for a price, feeling she had no choice Ellen agreed. The price given was that Ellen became the day manager for Alverez affairs - though she has many reservations. Her level head and common sense help guide her in how to deal with the coven as well as help her adjust to the sudden changes. Despite several efforts to leave all roads lead back into town, Direwood apparently has plans for them.

For the brand new citizens of Direwood, the Travelier's Inn - with its famously misspelled sign - is often the first building that appears along the main road into town. The Inn is homey with clean rooms that aren't luxurious but are comfortable and cozy. It is something out of a fairy tale in motel form, with quilts on soft beds and daisies on the dresser. The proprietor, Lisa Garnier, allows long term room rentals if necessary. Attached to the Travelier's Inn is a tea room and cafe.
The Direwood Historical Society Archives is a beautiful old building just outside downtown Direwood. While some of its holdings are mundane, rumors are there are plenty of secrets hiding inside its walls. Whether looking for a bestiary to identify the monster in the woods, or to try to get some information on the Ancient families of Direwood the Archives probably has the answers. Unfortunately, to gain any knowledge of value one must first make a deal with Peter Hale who reigns over the information there with an iron fist.
Ezra Lamont always felt uncomfortable trying to balance the vicious intensity inside himself with his need for quiet balance. It put him at odds sometimes with the young, rich, and pretty people that he literally and metaphorically lived off of during his unlife. He moved between house parties, ski trips, and music festivals dropping names while never quite saying anything concrete about himself. His frustration at the endless cycle would sometimes manifest as intense violence he struggled to control. While on the road from one house party to the next he stopped in Direwood for gas and found that he couldn't find his way out again. To be honest, he didn't know if it was that terrible to be held in the town's grasp.

Oscar grew up helping to take care of his sick mother and trying to earn a little extra money at the race track near his house. That was where he learned to drive so well and where he heard of a lucrative job opportunity. He never meant to hurt anyone, he just needed the money to pay off his mother's medical debts. He was just supposed to be the getaway driver, unfortunately, he hit someone while getting away. The first result of this terrible accident was that he ended up sentenced to prison. The second was that he became Cursed so that every time he went to sleep something else took control of his body. Terrified of what his body got up to without his control, Oscar picked up the habit of sleeping as little as possible and started making plans. In the midst of his prison transport, he was able to escape into the nearby forest and ended up in Direwood.

Amelia was born with an adventurous spirit and an ability to see beauty in everything. Her family has lived in Direwood for a couple generations and she grew up with having adventures in the safer part of the woods with her friends. She carried around her father's old camera and would climb trees to take pictures of bird's nests, or fawns napping in the spring - whatever she could find. She loved the woods and the woods loved her back. Once she finished art school she found her way back to Direwood again. Her ability to see beauty in the world has given Amelia a wellspring of optimism and faith in people - giving people the benefit of the doubt has never failed her so far.

Peter Hale | Lowe | MST
Peter is a werewolf who always has something up his sleeve and a plan in the works. Before living memory, Peter was killed and found a way to resurrect himself, though the process left him Cursed. Since then, there’s always been an Uncle Peter in the background of the Hale pack alternatively taking care of difficulties and being a general nuisance. Few Hales are left in Direwood, but Peter still keeps a light in the window with the hope the Hales will return. When he’s not treating himself to the very best of everything, he works as head archivist of the Direwood Historical Society Archives which he manages with absolute control.
