We archive flags for various (typically physical) disabilities, though currently do not archive themed flags, nor disability + other identity (for example, a gender influenced by using a wheelchair). Hello!!! I was wondering if could make a Hashimoto's awareness flag? I encourage creativity with it because I want to see own version of it!! ^^ It can have any number of stripes, and the colors associated with the Hashimoto's awareness ribbon and thyroid disease awareness ribbon are both blue, so maybe a soft sleepy blue color palette? I feel it would match up with the symptoms of tiredness, feeling cold, and having a low or depressed mood!! That isn't a must, just a suggestion!!! I personally chose a Fading Moon as a symbol to go along with the soft/sleepy blue palette to also match up with the symptoms of tiredness/fatigue/lethargy, the low mood, excessive sleeping, and feeling cold, but I have also made an alternative flag with the awareness ribbon in case the moon symbol is not to anyone's taste.

helooooo is it possible if you could make a flag for angelman syndrome (i dislike the existing one, no shade to the creator tho) & another for severe intellectual disability, ik intellectual disability flags (many actually) already exist but ive never seen any for subtypes anyways ty if you do my request 🫶🏽

An Angelman Syndrome flag with and without a symbol, and a Severe Intellectual Disability flag

For the Angelman Syndrome flag, I used blue because that is the awareness color for Angelman syndrome, green because it is the color used for awareness for genetic disorders which include chromosomal disorders, and yellow is based on the gold stripe on the general disability pride flag with stands for cognitive and (neuro)developmental disabilities. The symbol is an angel because of the name of the syndrome, the 14 blue spots on the wings and the yellow on the halo represent the change to chromosome 15 that causes the syndrome.

For the Severe Intellectual Disability flag, I based in on this intellectual disability flag(link), with the dark purple outer thinner stripes being the color severe intellectual disability used on that flag, the blue and greenish blue represents the diversity that exists within one severity subtype, the light green represents that same as the green on the flag it's based on, the pink and warm purple represents co-occurring syndrome and disorders.

I used the chevrons to resemble the disability flag and representing the different groups of muscles contracting.

The warm colors (oranges/reds) in the flags are also supposed to represent muscles. The FND specific flag is just based off the FND flag. The purples in the myoclonus flag are supposed to feel "unstable" and exhausting. The pink and green in the focal flag just felt like, pointed and specific to me for some reason????????

Disability Sun / Disabled Sun ☉

So... I wanted a symbol to represent disabilities, one that wasn't the wheelchair symbol. As a wheelchair user myself, I do like the wheelchair symbol, but it also feels like an incomplete image of the disabled community as a whole. Disabled people can come in every shape and size, and for many, many of us, the wheelchair symbol isn't representative.

Disabled people may have wheelchairs, or canes, or crutches, or hearing aids, or service dogs, or different body shapes, or even nothing at all visibly indicating a disability. There have been alternative symbols suggested in the past, but most hinge on showing a silhouette, and there would never be a way to demonstrate all of us with one little bathroom-sign-style human. So, I made this! The Disabled Sun!

This isn't meant to replace the wheelchair symbol, as that certainly has its history and place in our community, it's simply meant to be an optional other symbol for those who choose to use it.

This symbol was chosen for the following reasons and meanings:

Outer circle represents the body; physical disabilities, our relationships to our bodies, disabled bodies in general.

The inner circle represents the mind; mental disabilities, our relationships to our minds, disabled minds in general.

The circles represent wholeness, representing that we are whole, complete people. We are whole, not despite our disabilities, but we are whole including our disabilities. We are not incomplete or broken, nor are we “missing” anything.

Circles also represent unity. In this case, the circles represent the solidarity and unity of disabled people across the wide range of disabilities. It also represents universal design.

The sun represents shining a light on disabled people, and the light we provide ourselves.

It's simple, discreet, easy to reproduce, and has a unicode symbol already. ☉

The symbol is welcome to be used by anyone of any kind of disability, be it physical, mental, neurodevelopmental, sensory, invisible, anything! If you have any sort of impairment and consider yourself disabled, you are welcome to use this symbol.
