AN: this was something that popped in my head. It involves Touma and Usagi having a father and son bonding.
Also warning describes a panic/anxiety attack.
Touma kicked a small rock to the side of the dirt road. He was muttering to himself, crossing his arms with his eyebrows furrow together. He was ready to curse out loud before remembering he was not alone. How? It's because he heard a 'ahem' behind him.
"Touma, are you cursing?"
"No Father, I'm just upset." Touma started to feel small.
"It's because of what happened today isn't it?"
Touma nodded. Today his father took him to a match that was happening at a school that was in a town. He had been training ever since he was 6, now he is 15. He heard from students say to their teachers that if they were to bring dishonor to them, they would go back to their homes in shame. Touma didn't really question it, he won every round and was soon going up against the schools best student.
This match made Touma realize what they other kids met. He realized what dishonor was. The student was fast with his skills, Touma barely had enough time to dodge the kendo. When he was ready to strike, the student caught on and struck first, striking his side, making Touma fall to the ground and losing the match.
"I don't know why you're still upset about it."
"It's because I brought dishonor to you!"
Touma could see the confusion in Usagis eyes along with....hurt, he quickly turned his gaze to the ground, his legs started moving.
'Why is it getting so dark'
'It's getting hard to breathe'
'Where's the air? I can feel it, but where is it? Why are my eyes stinging? What happened to the air?! I don't feel so good-'
Touma shot his head up, his eyes were still stinging. He soon realized he was trembling. He was sitting under a tree in the shade. He still didn't feel good, he was trying to get his breathing back to normal.
" Touma, do as I say." He grabbed his shoulder.
"Breathe in." He inhaled.
"Breathe out." He exhaled.
Touma keep breathing in and out until he got better, he must have blanked out at one point because he found himself hugging his father.
"Feeling better?" Touma nodded, he did feel better, but he felt like not letting go. They stayed like that for a few moments before Usagi spoke up.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Touma nodded and let go. He sat against the tree, facing away from his father.
"So what has been eating at your mind today?"
Touma started to speak but all that came out were stutters. He started to get frustrated when Usagi spoke up again.
"Take your time. I'll be here to listen."
With that Touma took a deep breath, inhale, exhale. He was ready to speak.
"I feel like I brought dishonor to you and I'm sorry I did, I'll pack my things and leave home so you don't have to put up with me anymore."
It was quiet for a few seconds before Usagi started to softly chuckle.
"Who said you brought dishonor to me?"
"The kids at the school were saying that, I thought-"
"That's right, you thought. Just because you have a 'thought' about something that might be true, doesn't mean it actually is true."
Touma was quietly sitting in his own thoughts, he expected a different outcome to this whole thing. Usagi noticed his son drifting to his world, he placed a hand on his shoulder
"Son, do you remember the story about how I got this scar." He pointed above his eyebrow. Touma nodded.
"It was when you were fighting along your lord. He soon died in battle." Usagi nodded
"Yes, you remember well Touma. He died in battle because I wasn't protecting him. I failed him." Usagi started to rub his scar, as if trying to remember what was to come next.
"Did I feel dishonor? Yes, I did. And I know it hurts. It was then and there I became a rorin and I soon set path to finding peace, and I did, alongside your dad."
Touma was still listening, he remembered the story of how him and his dad met. Since it was one of the stories him and his would want to hear almost every night when they were younger.
"As time went on, I started to think again, 'do I feel dishonor?' No not anymore, I regained that honor in a different way."
"How? How did you regain honor?"
"By having a family." Touma was still staring at his father, "And by helping others along my journey."
Touma smiled, setting down a ladybug on a leaf.
"But son, you have already brought honor to me."
Touma stopped and whipped his head around so fast, Usagi thought he might break his neck.
"You have already brought honor to me ."
"But how, I lost. I lost against that kid. I really tried to win. I-"
"Exactly, you tried. That has more effort than not trying at all. We don't always get things right on our first try."
Touma hugged him. Usagi hugged back.
"Thanks father. I really needed to hear that."
"Of course, now c'mon. Your dad and sister are waiting for us."
They both got up and started to head home. After a while of walking, their home came into view. Leo was training his daughter.
"Can I try again at the next time?"
"Of course, but remember..." Usagi waved at Leo and his daughter, ".......that you already have honor."
Woooo, this was long. I hope you guys enjoyed reading!^^
