this is the first time that harrowhark interacts with the god she has supposedly been worshiping all her life. this is the first and last time we see harrow and john have a conversation before her lobotomy and it is marked by this deep, seething, generational, millennia worth of hatred that she feels towards this man in this moment.

really i feel the reason i just like... don't vibe with most of the readings of harrow and her relationship with john as a god is because i feel like you can't analyze that relationship without this paragraph and like i said in tags i feel like no one talks about this.

it is such a fleeting moment but genuinely this is how it starts. harrowhark meets god and the first thing she feels is hatred. harrowhark meets god and agrees to be one of his lyctors and then almost immediately turns her back on that oath and lobotomizes herself, knowing that she is potentially forever compromising her ability to actually serve as a lyctor. harrowhark’s first act after becoming a lyctor is one that directly defies god’s will. harrowhark meets god, and a few days (or maybe even a few hours) later writes this in her own hand:

harrowhark makes it very clear where her loyalties lie and capital g God isn't number one. fuck, he isn't even top two.

First post on this blog is going to be related to something I read only a year ago that will live with me... I will live with it?... for the rest of my life:

"Gideon the Ninth", "Harrow the Ninth" and "Nona the Ninth". The most rereadable damn books I've ever encountered, and I have loved "The Silmarillion" for decades. I haven't cut my hair for even longer...

...so when I finally did a complete, lots-of-effort damn cosplay, not just closet cosplays, of course it had to be an idiot redhead with yellow eyes, huge biceps, skull face paint and an inextricable companion.

But the hype was too strong, and now me and my Harrowhark/Darkesttears are absolutely going to do it again for more photos. Except there are already more photos, so, even more photos is perhaps a more correct way of putting it.

this will be my THIRD huge drawing done out of love for the locked tomb series, and yet, I have only read the first book. Reading is just sort of hard for me ! But I’ve heard the audio books are incredible, should I try those out ?
