I think the most shocking moment for me in Frozen II was the part where they showed a close up of Elsa's head and shoulders, including the neckline of her 'dress', and I suddenly realised that she doesn't actually appear to be wearing any clothes.
Look at that. Look at how it seems to blend into her skin at the top without an obvious finish, because it's entirely made of frozen water suspended magically in the air around her body and not actually fabric.
Elsa is still wearing the snow-dress from the first film, except in those scenes she was still wearing her original dress as a base and the snow was just ornamentation and extensionā remember, we never actually see her take it off. Now, however? I'm honestly not sure if she's wearing anything underneath it or not.
"But it's still clothes, Cheeseanonioncrisps! Just clothes made out of snow!"
Is it? Really though? Could a normal person wear that? Is there anything obviously knitting it together apart from Elsa's ability to hold the individual ice crystals against her body? If I get naked but cover myself in mud before wandering out in the street, does that count as clothes too? Because that's basically what's going on here, just fancier and with snow.
Oh, and before you start reblogging pointing out that Elsa does in fact have a real dress in this film as well, I already know that.
And if you look you'll see she's wearing the snow-dress underneath that, not over it. (Although she does also appear to have leggings on underneath that, so maybe she's not totally naked. Nothing obviously going on up top though.)
