ACCIDENTALLY LEFT MY MACERATED APPLE SYRUP ON THE STOVE AND IT CARAMELIZED I GUESS?
it was super thick and dark and golden and bubbly so i took it off the heat. happy accident.
tastes delicious so good. idk what to do with it though
thank you for your recommendation! with brief consideration, it has been disregarded.

if you're ever beating yourself up for 'missing the obvious hints' that someone is romantically interested in you, know this: i once met a guy who asked out a girl after she sent him nude pictures of herself in the bath and she said she wasn't interested. it is never obvious

other superbat things we don’t talk about enough: the exact mechanisms that allow Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent to swap suits/personas/etc because they look so alike. is it all just posture and convincing acting? it can’t be. so they look similar at the base level — black hair, blue eyes, pale skin, prominent cheekbones and jaw. they’re both 6ft 2 (+/- 1), broad shoulders, with some small differences in build. does Bruce always sweep his hair back when he’s out of the cowl and that’s why it’s easy to tell them apart? is Clark’s chest just a bit more pronounced? who can tell them apart when they’re really selling it?
(I like to think Bruce accidentally wears his hair down and a little curly one day after patrol (killer humidity in Gotham) and the kids see a little burgeoning Superman curl and are like absolutely not. meanwhile, Clark tries on a black turtleneck for work one morning and is immediately hit by that uncanny valley feeling. Lois finds it in the garbage ten minutes later)
I think the differences really come down to hair length and pure posture.
Hair length
Bruce's hair is kept precisely in the goldilocks zone of being short enough for the cowl but long enough to grab (for sexy reasons). He chooses to keep it brushed back as his signature style simply because it's easier to transition to from Batsuit and it makes his bedhead/freshly fucked hair more prominent (good for cover/alibi purposes and honeypot shit).
Clark's hair is longer and looks fluffier as Clark, but that also kinda gives him labradoodle vibes, so Superman's hair needed to be straighter and more "clean cut" to be taken seriously. The curl makes him approachable, but was also entirely unintentional because his cuteness can't actually be contained.
If swapping is planned, Bruce grows his hair out and Clark just suffers under the cowl. If the swap is impromptu, Bruce has both extensions and wigs, because of course he does. Clark has a little glue-on extension to simulate Bruce's widow's peak.
Pure posture
Bruce has very specific body language depending on where he is and who he's with. As Brucie, he's always casually slouched or leaned back - not hiding that he's broad, but diminishing it a little. As Bruce Wayne (TM), he's got good posture with hos shoulders pulled slightly inward so he's not so imposing. As a civilian, he always moves loose-limbed. At home, Bruce has perfect posture and looks kinda like a cliff face, but no one is intimidated by him there. As Batman, it's tits out for intimidation or shoulders and arms rolled forward to make him more compact and protect his chest/face. He also has neutral/kid-friendly Bat, where he has good posture but drops his shoulders and moves more fluidly.
Clark has a couple modes: Clumsy Reporter, Investigative Journalist, Country Boy and Superman. Clumsy Reporter is shoulders in, slight hunch forward, concealing how big he really is. Investigative Journalist is Reporter, but no hunch - slightly more aggressive. Country Boy is straight spine, shoulders back and relaxed, slight lean backward. Slight swagger to walk optional. Superman is straight posture, shoulders back and up, tits out. If kids/injured are involved or he needs to be comforting, he drops his shoulders and pulls his tits back in to a more neutral look.
Bruce, naturally, studied Clark extensively. He can even mimick Clark's vocal patterns. Clark is really good at being Bruce, but only because he's quietly obsessed.
Results
Bruce's biggest issue is hiding his scarification and covering his widow's peak. He even tricked Lois once for a whole week. Bruce is still quite proud of the article he wrote in Clark's name (Lex got indicted for tax fraud because of it AND he nailed the style on the first try). Now that she knows he can do that, though, she can clock him. Everyone else can't tell, though. Hal, Barry and Oliver cannot look him in the eye after he does his impression of Clark because that shit was uncanny (made worse by still being in the Batsuit, just with the cowl down).
Clark is pretty good at being Brucie, acting vaguely slutty with his tits or ass on display. He's a decent Batman, but he has trouble imitating how violent/aggressive Bruce can be because he's limiting his strength. Some of the cryptid!Batman allegations have arisen in the wake of Clark taking over (flash of red eyes, moving too fast, not moving when hit). As CEO!Bruce, though, Clark kinda flounders. He mostly leans into the airhead aspect because he really, really doesn't want to make a decision and fuck something up.
Takeaways
Lois now blackmails Bruce into proofreading her articles and getting dirt for her. Clark lives in fear of Tim's accounting and business management skills.
Bruce had the Daily Planet give Clark a raise for the article he wrote in disguise and he still laughs at how pouty Clark got over it.
Diana has always been able to tell them apart by the skin of their hands. Clark's are unblemished and eternally soft. Bruce's are surprisingly soft too, but they're textured by scars and are very slightly misshapen from breaking bones.

["She had told me what her hopes were. I wondered what would happen when I inevitably disappointed her.
Over the next few months, Maria and I worked with her experiences of being seen and unseen in the world and in her intimate relationships. When I asked Maria to talk about times when she felt visible, she was silent.
"I can't think of any," she said, looking sad.
"You can't think of any times when you have felt seen?" I reflected back.
"Well, a little bit. Here and there. But never the whole story all at once. I mean, with John, he sees me. I know he loves me. But it's like when we're out in the world together and he's passing as male, which he is, he forgets that it means I'm passing as straight, which I'm not. So, it isn't that he doesn't know who I am, but it's like we can't both be fully present at the same time. And my family, well, both of my parents like to point out the ways I look like my dad's family. Everyone thinks that I will have an easier time in life if I pass."
"So with your family you pass as white, and with John you pass as straight."
"Yeah."
"What does passing mean?"
She looked at me, a little confused.
I continued. "Well, of course passing is in part about what people see, right? Do they see your light skin, or your lipstick and long hair? But we also embody ways of being that signify affiliations. For example, when you and John met, how did he know that you were queer and not just a straight girl?"
Her eyes lit up. "Oh! I wanted his attention." She laughed. "I knew who he was— the big queer on campus, and I thought he was hot. I was trying to get him to notice me."
I laughed with her. "So what did you do? How did you get his attention?"
"I probably was strutting a little, making sure he'd notice."
"And he did, obviously."
She smiled, her eyes lighting up at the memory.
"So what's different now?"
"I don't know," she said, frowning.
In body oriented, or somatic, psychotherapy, we think about body-felt reflections. We feel and explore our bodies as we move through the world. We also think of social justice in terms of bodily proximity to power and survival. Which bodies are given what kinds of attention in the world? Which bodies are eroticized? Which bodies are criminalized? Which bodies are assumed to occupy locations of power or privilege? What embodiments and ranges of movement do we understand and process as signifiers of which social locations?
Part of the work in psychotherapy is to bring attention and awareness to the body and then begin to consciously shape our movements through the world. So we set up an experiment and Maria began walking around my office. At first she walked the way she moved through the world on her own. I asked her to notice where she felt energy in her limbs and her core, and where she didn't; where she could feel her breath. Then she moved around the world in the same way she she was with John, then in the same way as when she was trying to get his attention when they first knew each other. She moved back and forth between the three embodiments, then stood still and looked at me.
"Oh, it's like my energy is, well, not gone entirely, but subdued."
"What does it feel like?"
"Sort of numb, like I forget about me"
We were both quiet for a moment, taking in her statement.
"So how would you like to feel, to be aware of yourself taking up space in the world?"
Over the next few sessions, we worked on her sense of embodied self. She walked around the room as we talked and tried different postures as she sat on the couch. Then one day she said, "There isn't a mirror in here. I can't see the differences. I can feel them, but I don't know what they look like. Will you do them with me, show me how I'm moving?"
I began moving with her, mirroring her movements. She gave me instructions on how to follow her, and she watched me as we moved around the room together.
After a few minutes of this, we sat back down. She was silent and looking away from me.
"How was that?" I asked her.
"Well, I could see the differences in how i move, and it helped me to feel the different postures and movement." She still wasn't looking at me, which was unusual for her.
"What else?"
"Well," she said, still averting my gaze, "when you were moving the way I directed you, following my movement, you looked so different from the way you usually look. I thought that maybe both could be true, that we would look the same, and that you would also still look the way you always look."
In psychoanalytic terms, we would call this the twinship transference: a desire for sameness. In queer cultural terms we recognize Maria's desire echoing from the first session of wanting to feel seen, and now we understand that it isn't just being seen that she craves, it's being the same. She is disappointed that I am not the same as she is. This is the conflict between us that I had anticipated. I had disappointed her in revealing our differences. And her desire and disappointment are familiar to my own experience as a mixed-race femme— a desire to be both seen and mirrored— and to not feel alone in my identity.
I want to comfort her. And I want to tell her all of the ways that I think we are similar. But jumping over her sadness and frustration is a political temptation about showing alliances. The psyche is messy and doesn't always match our politics."]

I love that opera sits in this limbo where it's extremely well-known but not really beyond a surface level recognition, so you get commercials for makeup or whatever to the tune of the I Hate Women So Much It's Unreal aria
#in the first bridgerton book daphne describes her crush feelings as if her heart is playing the queen of the night aria from the magic flute#which i can totally see if you have never found out what the words mean. very high and fluttery.#but the lyrics are along the lines of THE VENGEANCE OF HELL BOILS IN MY HEART.
