neptune.
inspiring 😢
As much as I joke about inadvisable D&D campaign premises, nothing I ever come up with is going to hit the same level of inadvisable-yet-awesome as the old Requiem campaign.
Short version: the party is trying to stop a lich from detonating a necromantic WMD, but the adventure is rigged – they cannot possibly reach the weapon before it goes off. When it does, it kills everybody in the city, including the player characters. Game over, right?
Well, no. According to the campaign’s instructions, what the GM is supposed to do at this point is hand the players this little included booklet that contains a detailed set of conversion rules for statting out an undead version of your late character. And I do mean detailed – it’s not just slap on the “undead” creature type and call it a day: depending on a variety of factors, you could end up playing as, like, a ghost or a mummy or whatever.
And when you’re done you just pick up the campaign right where you left off, except now you’re playing as the Monster Squad version of the party out to avenge your own deaths.
Def not a beginner DND campaign but certainly fucking interesting! Idk how I'd feel about that without being told first my character wasn't going to make it tho...

Some of the highlights of non op comments
The more times I read this the more it seems like her husband and FIL are looking forward to her death. Like, they’re preparing for her death the way normal people excitedly prepare to welcome home their child.
They’re going to kill her. This is too fucking weird. I hope she’s heeding the advice of the thousands of messages telling her to get away from them because otherwise the next we hear of her will be a news story entitled something like “Mother Murdered By Husband and Father-in-Law in Bizarre Childbirth Death Ritual”.
After going through the comments on the original posts, I saw someone point out something along the lines of “You yourself said your father in law has a very commanding presence, and will get what he wants [getting into the delivery room]. What he’s decided he also wants is you, dead.”
That makes me wonder if the death of his wife was really only related to childbirth…?
Especially given their annoyance when OP asks about the possibility of SURVIVING childbirth.
maybe I’m naive or it’s wishful thinking but this doesn’t read to me like they want to kill her?? I think it’s a hugely exaggerated response to completely unaddressed and unresolved trauma & that they’re feeding off each other and making it exponentially worse as time goes on. that said this is CREEPY AS FUCK and I cannot understand how they don’t see how they’re treating pregnancy as a terminal illness or the effect that’s having on the op. they’re treating her like she’s already dead
Idk I think this is creepy enough to warrant her getting the fuck out of this marriage but even if they’re not planning on actually killing her in cold blood, if you’re a man who 100% associates childbirth with death and cannot see a scenario where your wife gives birth and lives…
Why the FUCK would you get your wife pregnant??? Why on Earth wouldn’t you immediately get a vasectomy??
Tbh I had a pit in my stomach reading these screenshots on Twitter the other day and I genuinely think this woman is in immediate danger from these men, but even if she’s not by his own standards the husband has already killed her
I was following this on Twitter and it's the same sentiment there... THE POST GOT DELETE THO AND NOW NO ONE KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON
