first & foremost, as somebody with an anxiety disorder myself, i’m so glad you’ve decided to include that as something xiomara struggles with but have clearly done your research & aren’t just throwing it in there as something to make her quirky ! you really nailed what i wanted in an application for xiomara when you explained some of her more stereotypical or ‘nerdy’ qualities, like the classic velma a la scooby doo “i can’t see without my glasses ! ” bit, but also gave her her own personality & twist beyond ‘really smart girl’. your pinterest board is so unbelievably aesthetically pleasing & i love the detailing on things on it like the bullet journaling & fancy calligraphy, which is definitely something i can see xiomara being all about. it emphasizes her need for organization but also that she’s more than just a neurotic genius. when reading your para sample, the fact that xiomara has anxiety about her anxiety really resonated with me. she’s definitely the type to think to herself ‘i can’t panic, i have to study’ & i absolutely love that you really expanded on that side of her. the stress baking, too — such a compelling detail that fleshes her out so much. the fact that her first instinct after receiving charlie’s texts is to whip up a pinterest dessert is so, so, xiomara-like. i’m really excited to see the development that your xiomara will go through throughout this group ( & super interested in her whole boyfriend fiasco ) & i’m so so excited to start writing with you ! welcome to the family, lizzie !

okay i literally teared up during the first bullet point of your application, when you described charlie as the son of a hometown high school football hero turned absent father. & then the chronic ashmatic bit, followed by “still, in spite of all the comic book heroes he loved and worshipped, his father was his favorite. :(“ ?!?! you’re trying to kill me. anyways, i grabbed some tissues & carried on — only to be torn apart again. mr. henderson left them on christmas, after saying he’d go out to retrieve charlie’s favorite drink ?! i’m heartbroken. i love that you went on to describe little charlie who essentially held his family together after the departure of his dad, who was crushed by the disappearance of his childhood crush ( i had originally written in charlie being a bit lovesick for victoria, so the fact that you added this in astounded me ). a comic book store employee & pizza delivery driver is actually so charlie that it actually made me snort — even moreso that he uses a bike as his mode of delivery. also, all of your ‘charlieisms’ made me so emotional. i don’t wanna talk to anyone after reading that he wants to be a comic book writer & is currently writing one about the divagate gang. i’m so sniffly over charlie, nobody call or text. anywho, your pinterest board really solidified how much you literally wrote my dream charlie into existence. i love everything you’ve brought to the table with my no. 1 soft boy, & we can’t wait to write with you & to get to know you ! thank you so much for allowing me to read your beautiful app & welcome to divagate !

oh my god, amanda. you don’t even understand — i was hooked on your app from the moment you started talking about alicia’s family background. i love how you really fleshed out her family & gave them all personalities of their own. & you painted such a picture of alicia’s childhood that i really felt like i was there throughout it all. if that wasn’t perfect enough, you laid out alicia’s personality better than i could have put it into words myself, & gave her her own layering & intricacy with her family dynamics. i loved that in her character parallels you included max mayfield, emily davis, & peyton sawyer, as those are actually three characters i drew inspiration from when creating alicia ! your section in the application about “letting women be angry” really resonated with me because although i see alicia as somebody who’s ‘defrosting’ to her friends, she definitely isn’t somebody who needs to become ‘softer’. she’s rough around the edges & that’s not a character flaw & i’m glad you see that ! your aesthetics at the end really sealed the deal for me & rounded out by absolute obsession with your version of alicia. welcome to our divagate family — i could not be more thrilled to have you & to write with you !
