well this social situation isn’t going the way i acted it out in the shower

Im not allowed outside after dark because i outshine all the stars and the moon so baby sea turtles always end up flocking to me
Wisteria is in bloom and I’m losing it.
i got 55/55 for my accounts test :')
i think that the fictive and fictionkin community needs to have a good discussion about racism and cultural appropriation.
i understand that when you are mentally ill and multiple you can’t just flip a switch and decide who your fictives are, i know that alters and headmates really are not a choice. but i also know that, when you have nonwhite fictives and headmates and you yourself are white, you’re being racist. this is white entitlement. this is an abuse of privilege.
i’ve had a lot of former friends come up to me before all of this and ask me if they were being racist for having nonwhite headmates. and when i said that they were, i lost them. and that’s ok.
but i also said that i knew it wasn’t a choice. i also said that it’s something to be aware of. you can’t erase your racism and white privilege overnight, it doesn’t work that way. it’s a constant process.
i think that, even if it is something that can’t be helped, it’s important to acknowledge your privilege at all times. privilege is something that’s deeply engrained into society, as well as into our own personal histories. the way that we are privileged and the way that we are oppressed are huge parts of what mold our thought processes and our identities.
so even if you can’t control who your headmates are, even if your fictionkin identity is a coping mechanism, its important to also acknowledge your privilege at all times and try your best to not abuse it.
EDIT:
it seems that some people are misconstruing my original post to say that it’s ok to have nonwhite kintypes and headmates so long as you’re acknowledging your privilege. it isn’t. it’s never ok to do so.
what i was trying to say originally is that, even if you ‘cant control yourself’ or whatever, what you’re doing is still racist.
even if it is something that you think you can’t control, it’s important to distance yourself from that kintype and or/ headmate. not doing so is an abuse of privilege and appropriative, and it’s 100% not ok to be kin or headmates with nonwhite characters under any circumstance.
i do know that it’s not always something that you feel as though you can control, but sometimes you need to put your mental health on the line in order to keep yourself from being racist. your mental health is not more important than the lives of poc and it never will be, so don’t try to act like my words somehow condone your blatant racism.
it feels like a lot of people are making assumptions wrt this post, assuming that im not mentally ill or multiple myself. i am both mentally ill and multiple, as well as otherkin and fictionkin. i made this post to open up a line of discussion about racism in these communities as a black and mixed person who has a place in this community alongside everyone else. i’ve gotten a lot of shit for this, i’ve been suicide baited and forced to leave multiple accounts over this but i feel like it’s really important.
i don’t feel safe in my own community anymore, and that’s a problem.
i think that, because the multiple and fictionkin/otherkin communities are often attacked by outside forces we’re a lot more defensive than we would be otherwise. and that’s a good thing, sometimes, but not when we’re having intercommunity discussions. i tried my very best to explain why having nonwhite headmates is racist, as well as why being fictionkin with nonwhite characters is racist, but it seems like no one is willing to listen.
i literally said in the above post that i am aware that your headmates are something that you can’t control, but that it’s still important to be aware of your actions as someone who has a white body and to try and distance yourself from your poc headmates.
just because you can’t control a behavior doesnt make it less harmful. i wish that y'all would really think about this and consider what you are doing as well as your privilege.
you will never experience racism. you will never know what it’s like. you will never feel unsafe in that way like me. i wish that y'all’d realize this
