Sexy What is it? It’s obviously subjective….but there’s something universally beautiful about fearlessness. There’s something fatally attractive about someone standing so firmly in themselves that everything else seems to fall away- societal standards of beauty, the idea of flaws, the feeling of inadequacy… It’s a lot if work though because from the moment you’re born, you’re already draped in expectation and you’re forced to grow into this narrow mould of what’s acceptable. You’re automatically clocked into this register of binaries ; fair, dark- male, female- short, tall- fat, skinny- smart, dim- athletic, lazy - introverted, extroverted, the list is really endless. We leave no room for in-betweens, the coalescing of ideals, no grey areas to inhabit…. Just extremes which leave us all at odds with ourselves and each other.

Indeed beauty, of any kind seems unique and is in the truest sense inexplicable - why is it then that we have trends, popular preferences so to speak? -are we true to our own ideals or are we pandering to some invisible structural prescriptive monster that gets to decide who must be oppressed next…?

What is beauty? Who gets to decide?
