His heart maybe skipped a beat when he started laughing. That was all he ever wanted. To make people laugh. And Dex’s laugh was one of his favorites. His nerves easing substantially now, replaced with a warm feeling all through him. Smile dopey and enthused as hell that he’d managed it within a few minutes of being around him.
“Thanks, it’s the therapy,” he pushed himself off the door and met him half way, wrapping his arms snug around him, and resting his cheek against the other’s. “Fuck I missed you. Even though you never fuckin’ told me you were a werewolf. Would’ve been really nice to know. Asshole,” a soft sigh, “mm, but you’re one of the few good things from Detroit I stupidly didn’t take with me.” He wasn’t letting go, oops.
He hummed contentedly as he hugged him back in turn, snug and safe, "We went over this over the phone. You literally made jokes every time I left. Every single goddamn time. How was I supposed to know you thought it was a pagan thing?” a laugh.Â
“Mm, for what it’s worth, though, I get it. I was broken up about it for a while. Good four or five months before I even considered dating seriously again. Definitely hurt that you made Kennie promise not to tell. But I get it. You weren’t... in the right place for a relationship the way I wanted it. Situation wasn’t great. And I might’ve tried to push for something at the wrong time if I knew anything,” a bit of a squeeze to the hug. “I’m used to being the one to break up with people, so that was a new one. I learned a lot about how to deal with certain things because of it so it wasn’t all bad. I missed you a shitton but it built character.”
He let go after a minute to look at him, gently caressing his cheek with the backs of his fingers, “I’m just glad to be here now. Again, you look happier and I don’t think I can even be mad seeing you like this.”
