this pride month, don't forget to shout out asexuals and aromantics. sometimes even pride month can make us feel isolated so DON'T FORGET US!! WE'RE HERE AND WE'RE QUEER!!
This is my c!Purpled design for my Deity AU of DSMP, alongside him is an OC of mine. So meet his older twin sister, Pinkie! She's a Social Butterfly, while he's a lone Moth.
But seriously... I need to draw this guy a lot more
I love your artstyle so much????? Everyone is so expressive and squishy(?) and filled with motion and personality! Teach me your ways!
(Translation: I think the way you draw is really awesome and wanted to ask if you had a tip or two to share for someone trying to get better at drawing people? If not that's fine I just wanted to pop in and say you're cool :D)
(Also I don't think "squishy" is the right word but it's 2am and my mental dictionary isn't working right now bleh)
Yeah I could give some art tips!
There’s so many things I could talk about for drawing people, design, expressions, anatomy, but I think to keep the post not too ramble-y I’ll talk about posing! Posing is something I used to struggle with but really enjoy now :D
Here’s how I posed out and drew my quetzal Grian as an example!
Reference
First I find references! If I’m just drawing casually I won’t use references but for full pieces I use them all the time. And if you’re worried you might be “cheating” if you use them, you are not. Trust me as someone who works in an artistic field, references up the quality of your work while also expanding your mental visual library, it’s a win-win!
Here’s some examples of previous art I’ve drawn and their references:
I recommend using real photos if possible and not other people’s drawings, sports photography is a great place to get super dynamic poses!
Lines of Action
First I’ll start with a few lines of action, which are quick lines that describe the energy of the pose. Usually I’ll have two main lines of action, one describing the curve of the spine, and the other for the connection between the arms/shoulders, and then build the pose out from there.
During this stage I don’t really think about anatomy, the goal isn’t to match the reference, but to simplify and push it. Try to stay as loose as possible!
Form
After that I’ll start adding the form on top. I tend to section out the body like this so that I can imagine rotating different parts around in space kinda like a 3D rig or a doll in case I want to modify the pose.
This is also when I start making proportional decisions! Ratio-wise, I tend to draw my characters a lot shorter than the reference shows, with big hands, feet, and head.
If I get to this stage and the pose feels too stiff or similar to the original picture, I’ll take the warp tool and just wrench the pose into something more extreme XD
Clothes, Hair, and Wings
Adding clothes can be tricky for me because sometimes they’ll muddy up the lines of action I drew before. To combat this I try to give keep the clothing shapes simple so they flow with the rest of the pose.
After that I added the wings and hair (always on a different layer so I can warp them around lol). I base these almost entirely off action lines, I just kinda scribble till something looks right XD
Ok so I just finished playing Dispatch and I freaking LOVED it! Sooooo I thought it would be fun to combine my two current hyperfixations and make a Hermitcraft Dispatch AU!
Quick overview for those who have never played Dispatch:
In this AU Impulse works as a superhero dispatcher, someone who analyzes a team’s strengths and weaknesses and answers distress calls by the sending the hero most suited to the job. However, he’s been assigned to the Hermit Program, a team of former villains trying to become heroes. To say the least, it’s like trying to herd cats and the office and comm lines are always in chaos when the Hermits show up to work.
More hermits bios incoming to fill out the team roster! :D

Nicknames: Tommy, Thes, Toms

About:
At age 6 he developed signs of magic. He was a lot smarter than his siblings at such a young age despite being ten years younger. He's closer to his mother before she died learning to brew potions with her and his brother. After his mother's passing he inherited her Deity Stone, a red diamond that was pass down to generations of her family. Though he mostly read books and stay in the library. At age 15 he's different from when he's younger he's no longer the quiet kid he was before but one that cause chaos to people around him. Out of all people, why did Tommy have the title? why? That's something he himself doesn't even understand yet.
Tommy's magical ability is named Protection, he can create any form of force fields as protection. But he only protects secrets he holds dear to himself and some secrets are better hidden than found. He can also cast magical spells and manipulate lava at will, but never use them to fight. So what's stopping him from using his might?
His own mind. You see Tommy doubts his abilities to use his powers but also cares deeply about the people surrounding him, especially his enemies. He values their sanity and safety more than his own, so he let himself get hurt to protect the people he cared about.
A lava dagger is a weapon he can summon, it represents his intense emotions and the personal growth that he had achieved. Some say lavas represents rebirth and the transformation of a person.
So come meet Theseus Prime, The God of Life.
WITHOUT TEXT:
Note: I'm a Dream Fan, so please be nice, I don't want drama.
Do you have a way you generally like format the bodies?
idk sorry if that was confusing :,3 the way you draw is just so crunch yum e and wow
Like guidelines ? I like using squares and circles, but everyone is different there’s no Correct way to do it tbh, whatever is most comfortable ! Here’s some examples…
“So I usually start with the head and work myself down, the body is a box for the ribs/chest, smaller box for the waist, and then underpants for the pelvis. It’s somewhat similar to a Ball Jointed Doll.”
“I don’t always follow the guidelines for the face perfectly haha these lines were drawn after and I don’t have the original sketch.”
“Personal rules I follow ARE: Elbow lines up with the bellybutton. Wrists line up with the crotch. Finger tips reach mid thigh (skirt rule!) Head shouldn’t be wider than the ribs.”
“Sometimes I don’t start with guidelines. For this one, I started with drawing the face and the hands and THEN I made a layer to sketch the body out.”
Practicing timed gestures is probably the best way to learn to draw the body. “Draw a box” can also be good for learning line confidence and control. Good to pair these together. (And muscle groups along the way)
