sujisms:
if there’s one thing suji will never understand, it’s men. they were reckless creatures, and there were many times she tried to convince herself to simply be completely lesbian. however, there was no denying how oddly attractive it was when males tried to showcase their dominance, and that tied into the thing she would never understand. it didn’t take long to see the situation dongwook had put himself in was going to turn sour real quick, the other male getting to him first before she could stop it. still, at least she was able to pull the other away, their footsteps now hitting the sidewalk as she pulls out her compact mirror to touch up her make up, “darling, you will always be indebted to me.” she shoots him a small smile to show she’s teasing before putting the mirror back in her purse. “a simple thank you will suffice, and your company back at my place. you’re lucky i’m letting you off so easily, for i could make you feed me some strawberries as an added bonus.”
women are complicated, but dongwook enjoys trying to figure them out. he’s breathless and dazed while he’s trying to get a sense of what just happened. his head is still struggling to balance itself. “can i still feed you strawberries, my dear?” he croons, laying his back flat against the wall and gazing at suji with complete admiration. he absolutely doesn’t deserve to have her attention when there’s far better people in this world. ones whose soul that hasn’t been corrupted by greed and malice. he gently tucks her hair behind her ear, unable to contain his smile. “i think you’re asking for far too little when you could be asking for more.”
yxjinxx:
— ♛ this was certainly a RARE occasion; yejin actually helping someone other than herself. usually, she’d see some fight going on and ignore it, let it play out for the entertainment- but her feet moved before her mind and next thing she knew, she’d intervened. the rise and fall of her chest was proof. “i really didn’t-…” she began, looking down at her feet as her small fingers reached and latched onto his jacket for stability. she wasn’t about to touch the wall to check on the health of her heels, that was unsanitary. “but- i did.” she rolled her ankle as she held onto his arm, making sure the pain in her feet was only from sprinting in stilettos just as he started to speak again, a small, conceited smile played on her lips as he invited himself to owe her a favor. “in that case, to fulfill your debt, you can take me out to dinner to discuss it. my hero services aren’t cheap, handsome.”
the tiny lady had a ferocity that was very impressive. frightening, if he was from another life. had he more time to regain his senses, he would have knocked that asshole down to the ground. perhaps it was the best that the fight was put to an end before things got too far. “to dinner?” dongwook almost wanted to scoff over how basic her request was. but he did offer a favor and if she was cashing it now, he might as well be happy about it. it was a simple request, after all. “suuuuure! do you want me to cook you something or take you somewhere to a restaurant of your choice?”
kshinae:
‘ you don’t owe me anything. i don’t think it was me that stopped him. ’ she mulls it over for a moment. ‘ or if it was me, i don’t think it was my intimidation tactics. because, in case you didn’t notice, besides my facial expression i don’t have any. ’ she’s still a little shaken, though she doesn’t want to show it, is keeping her expression neutral. which is helping. she has what someone back at school dubbed resting bitch face, and it works wonders at times like these. ‘ or maybe he really believed i was going to call the police. what an idiot. ’
“give me a few more minutes i would’ve broken his neck,” he scoffs. dongwook brushes himself off, straightening out the wrinkles and folds in his clothing. the other asshole managed to get a good hit on him, but dongwook doesn’t want to think about that now. he could worry about his appearance another time when the bruises begin to truly form. “i wouldn’t blame him for thinking you’re serious considering you tracked me down once before.”

deadfaiths:
nami certainly wasn’t a stranger to pretending. where dongwook spent his time trying, albeit failing, to live a normal life — nami spent her days wishing she could throw away the normalcy she had. put her facade of the pastor’s little girl on the back burner and just live LIFE. and yet here she was, another saturday night out before a sunday she’d surely spend at her parent’s church. it was weird how the club felt more like home than home did sometimes —– “ i think the words you’re looking for are thank you. ” she’s not drunk, not quite yet, but has had enough to drink that things like driving and inhibitions were off the table. “ now that’s a real shame, because i happen to love iou’s. i’d usually think of a fitting favor for me saving your sorry ass — ” her eyes are dark, like her hair and her heart, and she’s sure she looks like a demon bargaining for his soul. “ — but i’ll settle for a few rounds being on you. ” and with that, she takes purchase on a bar stool in hopes she can get enough rounds out of him that she won’t even remember the rest of her night.
dongwook only traded his life as a mobster for a normal one because of his friend. the same friend who he loved so dearly but will not love him the way he did. it was fine, though. he was always dedicated to his friend more than the entirety of the mob itself. but now he was left feeling lost and incomplete while his friend was busy being a loving husband and father. “thank you,” he drawls, rolling his eyes. he liked nami because she was far more genuine than him. she was at least truthful to herself. “that’s all? that’s a real shame.” he occupies the bar stool beside her, motioning the bartender for two shot glasses and a bottle of soju for them to share.
yumics:
yumi knew that eventually her time would come that she would regret her innocent facade, that her aura of sweetness would be ruined by one individual. however, today was not that DAY as a bit of a sigh of her own fell from her chest. ‘ were you ? you were just standing there, someone had to intervene, ’ the brunette opposed, with a tilt to her head. though, she continued shortly after, ‘ besides, you don’t have to be indebted to me. i don’t want anything from you. so, don’t sweat it. ’ yumi nodded, as if to punctuate her SERIOUSNESS.
“excuse me?” dongwook gawked at her in complete disbelief. was he really that out of practice? sure, he was never the one to get physical but he could handle himself. it was dangerous to not be capable of protecting onself, especially with the activities he often got himself into. “i know i’m on the older side but i’m still young. i was just off-guard, that’s all.” dongwook crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes. “i think i would’ve handled it if you hadn’t stepped in.”
rouxnamin:
› + ❝ — … quite honestly —— she hadn’t wanted to help the other to begin with. ( she’s been in enough bars && clubs with him to know that shit is never guaranteed with him. ) but GUILT weighs more on her chest than logic does && suddenly she was helping him. a hand now rubs lightly && awkwardly against his arm as she takes a flask from her purse , silent offering nestled in solace. letting her hand fall , namin clears her throat && rubs the back of her neck while shrugging. ‘ i hardly think that you’re I N D E B T E D to me or whatever. i guess , if you think you are , just like —— feed my dog or take him for a walk tomorrow or whatever && we’ll be even-keel again , m’kay ? ’
well, shit . . . namin was the last person he wanted to see. once upon a time he thought he could confide with her and trust she would keep his little secret safe. he shouldn’t have been so foolish to think he could share a piece of his heart to another person. people used others when it was to their advantage, which he was already a master in. he smacked away the peace offering between them and turned away, jaw clenching and a frown set. “fuck you and your dog,” he huffed. a beat later, he snatched her flask from her hand and took a swig to ease the throbbing pain not only in his head but his heart. he couldn’t look back at her when he thrust her flask back into her hands. “it’s going to take a lot more for us to be friends again.”
zhiruc:
“ Oh no, that’s okay! You don’t owe me anything, ” Zoé protested, the forced upturn of her lips quivering, “ I barely even did anything. ” It was true, she’d only used the volume of her voice to separate bodies, her words failing to even hold a threat. Really, it was all performed through adrenaline, the need to protect people that didn’t even need her protection overpowering any logic she’d once possessed. “ If anything, knowing that you’re okay is payback in itself, ” Pondering captured an expression for a moment, before she offered a bright smile, “ That is unless you feel like joining me for a hot chocolate… The company would be so lovely! ”
admittedly it was embarrassing ( for him ) to have someone so gentle and bright, someone who was literally asking to join her for hot chocolate, be the one to save his ass. chances were that he could have died if that asshole had a knife on him. dongwook stared at zoé, wordlessly fixing himself up, before letting out a deep sigh. hot chocolate sounded very nice. “okay, i’ll do it.” a smile slowly stretched on his slightly bruised face. “only because i owe you, of course.”
ariamccn:
after closing the flower shop early for the day, juhyun decided to walk home instead of grabbing a cab. her car was still not repaired yet and she was not in the mood to use the public transportation; in case some might recognize her from her idol days. just as she turned into the next street on her right, she spotted two figures fighting; one who was very familiar to her. quickly pulling out the pepper spray, juhyun ran over and in the right moment, kicked the stranger in his sensitive area before using the spray on his eyes. the other groaned loudly in pain as he tumbled to the pavement, stumbling moments later his way away from her.
“ ━ thank god, i got the pepper spray with me..”,juhyun glanced after the running figure before turning her attention back on dongwook, “oh please, handsome. the only thing that matters now is if you are okay?”
it had been a while since he had been in a proper fight. punching at a punching bag was nothing in comparison to fighting against a living, sentient being. surely he was going to have a nice bruise on his face later on, but dongwook wasn’t going to worry about that. he had endured enough over the years. seeing juhyun, armed with her pepper spray and pure tenacity, impressed the hell out of him. “i’m fi--- hold on.” he held up his hand for a moment to turn away, spitting out the blood from his mouth. “i’m fine. i’ve been dealing with this kind of shit since i was a kid.” he ran a hand down his face, feeling a little embarrassed that 1) aria saw him in this state and 2) she pretty much saved him. “thank you for doing that. i guess it’s a good thing your car’s still in a shop or you wouldn’t have been here.”
ncvocain:
´ ・ . ✶ ━ THE SHADY PLACES AROUND SEOUL were no longer strange for cain. with almost four years in the city and two years since he started going to illegal fights, the young man knew most of them already. with his hands pushed inside his pockets, a mask covering half of his face and the hood pulled over his head, he stopped as he took in the sight before him. cain tsked, always finding annoying the assholes who didn’t fight fair, especially when the other person was on the ground already. without saying anything, cain approached the two men, tapping the one who thought he was badass on the shoulder, before punching him in the face as soon as he turned around. he smirked as he felt the pain, but even more so when he saw the blood running down from his nose. “ get the hell out of it, or the nose wouldn’t be only thing bleeding on you. ” he said, before moving to help dongwook. “ bite me. like i’d want something from you.” he rolled his eyes, no bite in his words whatsoever, before he pulled down his mask and grinned.
the last thing dongwook wanted to admit was that he was losing his touch. he hadn’t gone this far in life without being able to take care of himself. but dongwook had always preferred to talk his way out of situations, only resorting to physical violence as a last resort. ( it was always his best friend who was the muscle, not him. ) remembering that he works alone now was something that he needed to work on. he wasn’t always going to have someone to back him up. it was just a miracle that cain stepped in when he did. “ah, i knew i could always count on you.” dongwook chuckled. “that’s why i always bet on you! you’re dependable. i’ll treat you to a nice dinner with a lot of protein next time.”

// strangely enough, this wasn’t even embarrassing for him. being MANHANDLED wasn’t a issue because he was a boxer. being yelled at didn’t bother him much either cause he’s never NOT been yelled at. yohan could take that, no sweat. he was just aggravated that the reason he lost this job was because he was trying to save her ass- if it wasn’t for him a group of kids would of left without paying. 3 meals, add on’s, sides and drinks all free? nah, not on his watch. the only thing he could think of doing was grabbing them by their collars and dragging them to the register, but he didn’t think the little fuckers would fight back. that’s when things began to get messy- which led him to this spot on the sidewalk. that’s the issue with yohan, he has good intentions but doesn’t always have actions that correlate. he liked the way he was though, so really, that didn’t matter. yohan was just satisfied that this all happened in perfect timing because he needed a buddy to talk shit with and free alcohol. “me? what do you mean me? it was all that lady- hollering at the top of her lungs because i tried to do my job. if i’m the idiot, what is she?” yohan sighed, before giving him a goofy chuckle. “-…oh shit, taking me on a date? let’s do both. i can’t pass up on free alcohol.”
dongwook wasn’t always in a giving mood. usually he had an ulterior motive, always wanting something more, but today he just felt like being generous. three weeks was a lot of time for the shop owner to repay him given that he already had several months. besides, dongwook didn’t really want to be the proud new owner of a store front that had been in the same family for generations. he didn’t want or need it since he was already inheriting his father’s shop. “it was so loud that i couldn’t even hear myself think! people are trying to work here.” he chuckled. he turned on his heel, waving yohan to follow him. “c’mon, let’s go before i change my mind. i’m not going to hold your hand the whole way.”
maybe he was never meant to have a normal life. maybe he had an addiction — a problem nothing and no one could fix. no matter how hard he tried to turn that part of him off, he found himself crawling back to his old habits over and over again. dongwook couldn’t let that silver tongue of his go to waste. it kept his pockets heavy and blood pumping with that high. but sometimes, his luck runs out and he’s left with the taste of copper on his tongue and a bruised ego. “you didn’t have to stop that asshole back there,” he huffed, body aching with every breath. “now i feel like i owe you. i don’t liking being indebted to others.”

// a loud, familiar and ANNOYING wave of words followed by a set of hands thrusting him out of a restaurant door caused his feet to slightly stubble before he stables himself and turns his head looked up as if he was trying his best to keep his d a n g e r o u s l y agitated glare from destroying the old woman as she screamed- “.. DON’T BOTHER COMING IN TOMORROW & DON’T EXPECT PAY EITHER.” yohan’s hands clinched into fits the moment she turned away, his head dropping to ruffle his hair in aggression. he pulled off his apron before slamming it down and walked in a circle to kick it against the shops door. “FUCK this job.” yohan spat, walking a few steps away to sit against a wall on the ground. “didn’t wanna work at this SHIT place anyway-..” while his eyes wandered, he locked eyes with kids walking by. “stay in school kids- or old ladies will try to ruin your life.” yohan ruffled his hair again before he turned to his side, locking eyes with someone else- “you saw all that-… didn’t you?”
another day, another visit to be made . . . dongwook liked being a, well, ‘ freelancer ’ since leaving the mob. he didn’t have to cut ( or hide ) his payments and didn’t have to ask permission for certain things. all he had to do was stay out of way and don’t interfere with their activities. for now, he had no reason to come crawling back to them since he was doing just fine. “i’ll give you three more weeks to pay me back. if you can’t make the deadline, you better start writing letters to your loved ones.” dongwook smiled at the older man, patting the counter for emphasis before leaving. the smile disappeared once he turned to find the source of all the ruckus going on nearby. there was always something interesting going on in the city but that did not always mean it was something good. digging his hands into his coat pockets, he had to cheer yohan up. not because it was his obligation but more like because he wanted to. “i could hear you from next door, you idiot.” he clicked his tongue. “you wanna talk about it or drink about it? it’ll be on me.”
“here try these. I think I finally nailed it.” it was only his seventh batch but at least he’d gotten it right. he’d begun to slide the plate of raspberry macarons closer to them before pausing. “wait…you’re not allergic to anything are you?” the last thing he need was someone going into anaphylactic shock due to his food.
baking was never his strong suit. he preferred the art of cooking and the intricacies of repairing. dongwook eyed at the delicious macarons with interest, throwing one into his mouth without any concern. “we’ll find out.” he teased. he chewed for a moment and swallowed with confidence. to be dramatic, he waited before giving his review. “i didn’t die, so it’s amazing. good job sunny.”
