I’m sorry I just need to vent it is so hard being a trans woman not just in this space but in every seemingly “trans accepting” space I’ve come across. It feels like these spaces are welcoming of trans men and trans mascs, but trans women/amab trans fems are shunned and anything for us specifically is coopted. I was just trying to reach other phannie amab trans fems/women a few days ago on twitter because it seems like there are so few of us and there were multiple responses saying that there are lots of trans men in the community to be friends with and telling me not to contribute to “dividing the trans community”. A couple of weeks ago I made a post that basically just said trans women are goddesses and divine and half of the replies were about trans men and how trans men are also divine gods or accusing me of hating trans men for not mentioning them in my post. Today I made a post talking about how poorly we’re represented in media and referenced Euphoria and what they’re doing to Jules’ character and I had to delete the posts because the only replies I got were from people arguing that “at least you’re being represented in media, unlike trans men” and one person said “remember that trans men aren’t represented well either!” and I just feel like!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Why can’t we have anything!!!!!!!! Why does everything have to include men!!!!!!!!!!!!! ‘Oh well does that mean you’re saying trans men are basically cis men and don’t have unique experiences?’ NO! Trans men have their own unique experiences and struggles but goodness gracious if there’s anything that should bring them gender euphoria it should be their entitlement and self centeredness that is almost unique to men. Trans men stop making our experiences about themselves challenge!! Trans men stop being transmisogynists challenge!!! Trans men learn to respect trans women challenge!!!! Sorry again for venting I’m just so tired of being ignored and othered and talked over. Hope you’re having a better day <3

i do feel like phannie spaces are even more hostile to trans women than other fandoms and my only hypothesis for why that might be the case is because the majority of dan and phil's fans were afab and very young at the time of their highest popularity, so statistically speaking it makes sense for there to be a higher number of transmasc phannies. and like any time a poll goes around, it does seem like this is true but i have to wonder if the very very low numbers of trans women are not because dan and phil's content somehow doesn't appeal to them, but rather because they don't feel welcome enough to stay...

i didn't comprehend how isolating it must feel to be transfem in this community until the dangender discourse started and i saw so many people that i previously respected say the nastiest things in response to (harmless btw) rpf speculation in a community that was built on rpf speculation. why was it sooo different to talk about dan soft launching the gay over the years vs. the potential that he was soft launching.. pronouns? after years and years of talking about hating the concept of gender and being a formless blob etc etc? why was it SUCH a negative thing to even imply that he isn't a cis male? and most of the people pushing back the hardest were transmasc... that was shocking to me. the casual transmisogyny happening in all of the dangender discourse left a bad taste in my mouth still to this day. because dan howell was not reading or caring about those tumblr posts (and if he was reading it, that was his prerogative to search it out) but trans women DID read it and i can only imagine how hurtful it must have been. for the record i dont even think dan is nonbinary or trans i think he has a complicated relationship with masculinity and how it intersects with his sexuality but even me saying that is parasocial speculation, it's no different than if someone said they think dan is a binary trans woman. like it's all just speculation from someone who does not know dan irl and it's only harmful if you bring it to the person's doorstep and/or attempt to "prove" your opinion is correct

ANYWAY i'm sorry that was a whole tangent i just wanted to say i agree that phannie spaces are historically not kind to trans women and i'm so sorry you're feeling the brunt of it. this space should be a fun escape from reality for everyone, not just for people of a certain group. if there's anything i can do to help out please let me know otherwise i'm always here for a vent ❤️
