it isn't bad to feel overwhelmed. feeling overwhelmed does not make you weak.
one day you will wake up refreshed, drink coffee and be able to read a book the same way you did when you were little. you will have a cat who curls up to sleep on your lap or a playful dog who is happy to see you. you will be the kindest you can be, listening to stories, and checking up on people often. you will make pancakes in the morning and decorate your abode with plants, your old paintings and cozy cushions. you will fill photo albums with blurry photos of your new friends and road trips and summery evenings. you will visit your favorite bakery and library often, and keep in touch with people you love. things won’t be perfect, but you’ll be at peace with yourself and you will be in love with life again.
yeah today is terrible and you feel like shit but there are little kids who say hi to you in the mall and puppies who lay on ur lap and kittens who make the brrrrb sound when u kiss their little kitty foreheads and babies who grab ur finger in their tiny baby fist and writing that makes u feel a little more alive. there r plants growing through cracks in the sidewalk and good smelling lotions and fuzzy blankets. let urself b sad, let urself b hurt, but kno that there r a million good things around u. ur loved.
someone said ‘the version of me you created in your mind is not my responsibility’ and wow
friendly advice to not revolve your life around one person, one feeling, one place, one memory, one problem. the complexity of life and the diversity of the world is beautiful and you have the right to explore it. do not settle for less. you deserve better.

some of y'all are doing your best to keep positive and it shows but if u feel tired pls know that its ok to rest. You don’t have to be positive all the time
things that make me feel better about myself that I think a lot of people forget
those little things on ur nose aren’t blackheads, don’t try and get rid of them they’re sebaceous filaments and they’re permanent and literally everyone has them
every girl has that little pouch of fat on her lower tummy, despite what magazines try n show u, you have important organs there that need to be protected don’t try and get rid of ur pouch
ur body is smarter than u think and it knows what to do when u eat more than normal. one bad day, or even week, of eating poorly isn’t gonna ruin anything at all I pinky promise
if u think u look good up until u try taking a selfie, it’s not ur fault - our faces are asymmetrical and when u see ur face flipped it will look unnatural to u, since u don’t see it that way when u look in the mirror. to everyone else it looks perfectly fine
no one’s stomach looks the same at 8pm as it does at 8am. no one has a chiseled six pack after a day of eating, not even the super fit people u see on tumblr, because ur stomach naturally expands after eating and expecting to have a flat tummy before bed is very unrealistic
no one notices if the bags under ur eyes are bad today. no one pays attention to the bump in ur nose or the zit on ur chin or the piece of hair that u missed when u were straightening. literally no one notices these things except you so stop worrying about it ur gonna be fine

*putting the kettle on* right, that’s because it’s really hard and not something that enough kids are actively taught. You have to start in the neutral, with statements like “I am a person” or “this is what I made today,” or finding tiny things you like about yourself, like your eyes or your music taste or the way you leave long comments on fan fiction or how you can always get dogs to trust you.
“But sometimes I mess up or I forge-”
*putting tea leaves in the tea pot* of course you do, that’s human nature, and healing isn’t linear. Don’t put yourself down about that imperfection either, just decide to try again tomorrow.
“But I don’t deserve to feel bette-”
*pouring hot water into the teapot* all human beings deserve basic respect and the ability to live their lives, and being kind to yourself will almost certainly help you be kind to others and become an even better person.
