An idea I got during my current run of p5r. There is an overarching Emotion in these games!
đč Someone else's fiction cannot cause you physical harm.
đčIf someone else's fiction is causing you emotional or psychological harm, or distress, you can put it down and not read/watch it.
đčYour emotional well-being is not the responsibility of fiction writers.
đčSomeone else's fiction is not about your personal trauma.
đčWhen reading or watching fiction, you always have the power. You can always stop. You are never reading fiction without your own consent.
đčFiction writers are not responsible for other people's mental health.
đčThe content of a piece of fiction does not reflect on the morality of its author.
đčJust because someone writes about bad things happening, doesn't mean they want those things to happen.
đčDon't like? Don't read.
-a writer's only job is to tell their story. they have no responsibility to you for how it makes you feel. you chose to consume the story. so those are your feelings that you need to take ownership of.
-discomfort is not the same as harm and acclimating yourself via fiction to strongly unpleasant emotions such as sorrow, indignation, and disgust will make you stronger and healthier
-however if you are repeatedly triggering yourself by engaging with media that makes you miserable you should probably recognize that it's up to you to stop hurting yourself
I think this is an important thing to add, a reminder to myself and to many others around us.
As both a writer and an artist, i've definitely hace had people come at me negatively to disapprove my actions and the way of storytelling.
You can not like my stuff, my wild way of storytelling isnt for everyone. But you should backoff if you feel such hatred for it. No one should ever be attacked for making these things.
Most of us just want to tell a story as an escape. Maybe people will even write about darker themes as a way to process past traumas in a safe controlled situation.
And no single headcanon dictates what other people can do with a character even if several people do it too, it doesnât make it canon.
Write proper tags, read the tags, avoid things that bother you. Anger is an addicting emotion
Not everything is made for everything and itâs okay to step away
As an artist and storyteller, there may be times I take on more serious topics and/or darker, more mature themes. (Like in the current arc). If you as a reader choose to ignore the provided tw tags, that is on you, not the creator. YOU are the one responsible for the content you consume. We as artists and writers, can only assist you in putting the necessary labels, content warnings and tags to help you avoid art or stories that make you uncomfortable.
However if you do come across certain themes that make you uncomfortable, that doesn't mean the artist/writer is obligated to stop just because you don't like the direction it goes and it doesn't give you the right to demand them to write it differently based on how you think it should be written.

"Oh good, I finally found that book. I've been looking for it for so long now."
Student Troubles | Barrett & Hiro
earthscripted:
"If you stay in the towns, you should be fine," Barrett replied, "but yes, you can borrow one. Â We will need it back eventually though." Â He took a few steps, meaning to walk to the storage.
Barrett didnât smile back but he returned the sentiment, âNice to meet you, too.â
"That' makes sense.... if I were a monster I wouldn't want to wander into towns." Hiro nodded. "Of course I'll give it back. As soon as I'm able to get a weapon of my own I'll make sure to return it to you." He hummed softly to himself and followed after the other man, making sure to stay a few steps behind him.
Veggies and Seeds | Hiro & Raguna
ragunaoftherunes:
"HmmâŠ" Raguna mused for a moment, thinking. What did he want to see? âI noticed there was a cave around here⊠Whatâs that all about? I thought you didnât have any monsters around here.â
"Oh...heh...." Hiro laughed softly. "No, we don't have monsters around here. And its not technically a cave. Its a tunnel that leads to the village on the other side of the mountain. For a long time, that tunnel was closed up, so we had to climb the mountain just to visit the other town. But its open again now, so its really easy to go across. I can show you if you want."
Student Troubles | Barrett & Hiro
earthscripted:
Barrett nodded. âSome type of weapon is always useful. We might have a few spare swords at the school for training, but they wonât be the best quality.â In truth, the schoolâs swords werenât much better than a wooden one, but theyâd do until Hiro was able to get an actual weapon.
"My nameâs Barrett," he said shortly.
"You'd.... be willing to lend me one?" Hiro asked, slightly surprised. "I would appreciate that a lot. I'm not sure how long I'm going to be in Norad so I'll need all the defense I can get."
Hiro smiled. "It's nice to meet you Barrett."
"Wait, where's my stethoscope? Don't tell me I lost it..... dang it....*sigh*"
"Hmm...... I wonder if there are any more books on this subject here.... If not I may have to go find them somewhere else..."
Student Troubles | Barrett & Hiro
earthscripted:
"Donât worry about it," Barrett muttered at the repeated apology.
"Noradâs a nice place, you just have to make sure youâre safe," Barrett offered. "You never know what you might run into in the forest."
Barrett rarely left the town without a weapon of some sort - the only time he did leave without one was when he was visiting another town, and he usually brought one along then anyway. He never knew what might be waiting when he arrived, and it never hurt to be prepared.
"Yeah.... Raguna mentioned that it can be dangerous here." Hiro hummed softly. "Where I'm from there's no need to worry about any sort of danger, the worst thing we have to worry about is coyote's..... I guess I should get myself some form of defense huh...?"
"A-Anyway uh.... I guess I should introduce myself. My name's Hiro"
Veggies and Seeds | Hiro & Raguna
ragunaoftherunes:
Raguna grinned and went inside, taking a quick look around. They didnât have many seeds, but they had some he didnât have back home. He purchased them, thanked the person (Gombe, was it?), and went back outside.
He glanced around again, curious. âSo? Tour?â
Hiro smiled and nodded. "Well, what would you like to see first? I can show you around the rest of the main part of town first, or I can show you where the local farmer lives."
Veggies and Seeds | Hiro & Raguna
ragunaoftherunes:
"Sweet, thanks. Mind waiting? I still need help looking around this town, or at least a tour guideâŠ" Raguna mumbled, waiting for the other to reply.
Hiro smiled and nodded. "Of course, I'll wait here."
"I have to stop going to the tea shop this time of year. Every time I go in there I see Gratin and I love it too much not to buy it...."
Student Troubles | Barrett & Hiro
Being morning, Barrett didnât have to be at the school yet. However, when he wasnât travelling, he did tend to hang out in the general vincinity of the building; it wasnât like he had any where else to be.
Barrett let out a quiet oof as someone collided with him. âHey,â he muttered. Whatâs with people walking into me, he asked himself.
"Where are you off to in such a hurry?" he asked the stranger.
"Aah.... once again. So sorry." Hiro mumbled. "I wasn't paying attention...."
He fell silent for a moment, trying to steady his thoughts.
"I... I'm not really headed anywhere in specific." He replied after a brief moment of silence. "I just got into town. I'm travelling around Norad and I heard that this town was a great place to visit. So... here I am...."
Hiro had never left his own village before, he hadn't known how awkward he would be once he was out of the comfort of his own town. It was a little embarrassing.
Time for a check up | Phillip & Hiro
Hiro hummed softly to himself as he made his way to Phillips farm. It had been a while since Phillip had stopped by the clinic for a check up. And seeing as the weather had gotten colder, and Phillips job required a lot of hard work, Hiro decided that it would be best to check up on him.
"I hope he hasn't been working himself too hard."
Hiro walked onto Phillips farm and made his way to the house. He stopped at the front door. 'I don't even know if he's inside, but I might as well try' he though to himself. Hiro knocked on the door.
"Hey Phillip! You in there?"
"This procedure is a lot more complicated than I thought it would be. I guess its a good thing I'm still learning."
Student Troubles | Barrett & Hiro
Hiro let out a sigh as he wandered into the new town. He had decided to take some time off in his studies and go around exploring. After talking to Raguna he had decided he wanted to go check out the towns in Norad, and after getting some opinions from some travelers he had encountered, he decided that Alvarna would be a good place to start. He had heard there was a large school house here and he wanted to check it out. Though, thinking about school made him remember why he took some time off in the first place.Â
He let out another sigh and continued walking into town. He wasn't paying attention and he ended up bumping into someone.Â
"Ah! Sorry! I didn't mean to bump into you!"
