I thought "down with cis" was a joke?

The thing is, it doesn’t matter if it’s a “joke”, especially when the same people spreading it are the ones that turn around and complain about jokes in children’s cartoons being “transphobic”.  A cartoon character falls in a pile of clothing or puts on a disguise, and it’s “OMG, THIS IS SO TRANSPHOBIC!”, yet at the same time, wishing death upon the majority of the population is “Just a JOKE! Calm down, lol!”.  No.  Homie don’t play that.

A lot of the people spreading “Down with Cis” are clearly NOT joking.  Many constantly post and reblog about how much they despise cisgendered people (not specifically the bigots that are the problem, but ALL cisgendered people, which negates the fact that much of the LGBTA community is, in fact, cisgendered).  They are openly hostile not only to “the cis”, but also anyone that doesn’t agree with that hostility.  Any trans person that suggests that maybe constantly telling people they’re “trash” isn’t the best way to win their respect has their identity invalidated, and is bullied and harassed endlessly.  It isn’t necessarily the fact that they’re making these proclamations, but the fact that they are using it as an excuse to attack and bully others.  So, what is the random outsider supposed to make of all of this?  What impression are they getting from blogs with “cisphobia” in their urls or titles?  What are they supposed to think when they see people trying THIS FUCKING HARD to “defend” being unapologetically hateful??

This is absolutely NOT how the LGBTA community should be represented.  All any of this does is alienate others.  It makes them less likely to even want to be around LGBTA people, even if only out of fear of offending them somehow.  It’s pushing away allies that we NEED.  It’s making people care less about LGBTA issues, because they’re not sure what’s a legitimate issue, and what’s just a mountain being made out of a mole hill.

Yes, LGBTA people are marginalized, and discriminated against.  That was never under question.  Trans people usually receive the worst of it.  However, becoming just as awful in return doesn’t make anyone the better person.  I can more than understand being bitter and resentful at those who have wronged you, but it’s just not necessary to tear others down that had nothing to do with it.  That’s just burning all bridges behind you. 

If you lash out at EVERYONE, then who do you have left to support you?
