Mark took the beer, and thanked her, before taking a swig, “Lexie.. I just don’t want to ruin this.. Again, you know? I want to do whatever I need to do, to hopefully win you back.. But I am just enjoying your company right now..” Mark said, giving a smile. As Mark looked at her, he noticed a strand of hair covered part of that beautiful face, and so, without thinking his free hand moved to brush it away, “There all better,” He smiled, the closeness to her again was something.. Mark felt the strong urge to kiss her, but he did his best to fight it.

Lexie nodded her head and took another sip of her beer. “I know Mark, but you aren’t going to ruin things again. We are taking things slow and we’ll work everything out.” The brunette said with a smile and then took a deep breath as he moved in closer to her. It took her all her strength not to move in even closer and lean in to kiss him. “Thank you.”

Yeah. [nods, smiles] So, [pauses, gulps] …how are you?

I’m good. Just trying to figure everything out with Mark. I’ve been working a lot of over time, which has been nice. How are you?

“ I have been busy too, I have been taking a few extra shifts so those with children can enjoy time with their kids”

Well, that’s very nice of you. I’m sure they appreciate it.

“A beer would do nicely, please..” Mark smiled, as he was a few steps behind her. This was almost torture, being this close to the woman he loved, but not being as close as he would have liked.. He wanted to hug and kiss her, and tell her he would make up for the mistakes of the past.. “Just let me know if I over stay my welcome, okay?”

Lexie nodded her head and then grabbed two beers out of the fridge for the both of them. It felt so weird to have Mark back in her apartment after the time that had passed with him gone. She opened both the beers and then went over to hand him one. “Mark, you’re fine. I promise I’ll let you know, but I doubt that will happen.”

Yeah, it has been awhile. Which is totally my fault, I’ve been super busy with work lately. I’ve been taking on extra shifts as much as I can.

Will do. And they sure are runaround-ers, so I’m sure any animal enjoys that.

She really does enjoy it, but that’s probably because she’s still a kitten. Honestly though I’m sure she won’t grow out of it. She seems like a playful cat.

“I won’t don’t worry.” She said looking at her brother in-law and nodding her head. The last thing she wanted was for something to go south again. She wanted everything to work out but in it’s own time.

Hmmm…and what were you seeing him for? 

He came in the ER last night. He fell down a flight of stairs in house and hit his head. I ordered a ct scan and everything came back normal, but I wanted to keep him over night for observation.

Mark headed to the hotel he was staying at for a freshen up, and change of clothing. It didn’t take him long to get to Lexie, and he smiled as she let him inside. His attention turned to the cat, Belle, to which he bent down to offer the cat a hello.. “Cute,” He said, as he returned his attention back to Lexie. “Thanks for inviting me over”

The brunette smiled as she watched him pat the cat. “She is pretty cute. I got her a few months ago, her name is Belle. Zola and Olivia named her.” She smiled and then nodded her head. “Of course. Do you want something to drink? I have some beer in the fridge I think.” She asked walking over towards the fridge and opening the door.

It’s great for the most part. In the beginning we had our issues, but those resolved themselves and now we work together well.

She’s five months old. So, she’s still pretty little and a trouble maker. I love her though and she’s good company. Animals are a persons best friend.

Lexie kept her hands in her pockets and then look at the time. “That was my last surgery and I just need to change. Then I’m free.” She said looking at him and then sighing. The brunette didn’t feel like going out for a drink or meeting anywhere, but she did want to talk. “How about we meet me at my place. If that’s okay with you? We can talk there and have a drink after we both freshen up. I don’t feel like going to joes and seeing everybody else tonight.” She asked with a tired eyes and a slight smile on her face.

Mark listened, and couldn’t help the stupid grin that was now forming on his face, what Lexie could do to him, just with a few words.. “I’d really like that, Lexie. Only if you’re sure?” Mark asked, wanting her to be 100% okay with it. He didn’t want to force or pressure her. Giving her space was something he tried to do. “I’ll meet you there”

Lexie nodded her with a slight smile of her face. “I’m sure.” She replied and then turned around walking to the attending lounge to go grab her stuff. “I’ll see you there.” Once she started driving back to her apartment, the brunette hoped that she left her apartment in at least decent shape since her ex was coming over but she couldn’t remember. She had been working so much lately. Lexie opened her apartment door and looked around the tidy apartment, nodding her head at how clean it was. She figured Mark would be here soon, so she decided to throw her bag on the table and then feed Belle before she heard a knock on the door. “Hi, come in.”
