Let’s talk about comfortability
Any decent person in their right mind would want their friends and others around them to be comfortable and happy right? And there are many ways to go about this, even where to draw the line. Now I understand mistakes are made with everyone, and that’s alright.
But when you start getting even more than five followers, you need to be paying more attention to what you put on your blog. Now this blog for example, it’s going to have dark themes like gore and other things like it. With a blog like this, I need to tag my posts accordingly and put in triggers!
What is a trigger? Well it’s something like seeing something that gives you a wave of nausea’d feelings or worse. It just simply doesn’t wanna sit right with you. Hearing it, just anything can set off a trigger within someone.
The worse thing is that someone that gets affected, they are suddenly shaking, can’t respond and they disappear for a long time. You don’t know what happened behind the computer screen, you don’t even know if they are alright! Or maybe they just go silent and come back, saying they lose a survivor’s battle and started to hurt themselves?!
This kind of thing is downright terrifying. Not for them only but for us. For everyone witnessing it. And there are a lot of things that can be triggering for them as well! And don’t you dare pull the excuse that there aren’t triggers on life because I will go down to your home and punch you.
Simple way to go about this is reading people’s pages on their blogs. Hopefully they got an about page, rules pages are a must to read too of course! Maybe even make a post, hoping to get people’s attention about it. Ask them what triggers them and tag your post if their trigger is related or that actual trigger.
I myself, always read the rules and about pages or any page and all pages actually. First thing that I look for is the triggers someone might have. Doesn’t matter if it’s something silly. I should tag it for them. It’s respectful and thoughtful to do. I don’t mind tagging my posts either. Takes no longer than a minute to tag my posts for their safety.
Added measure is that I have made a trigger page that is meant for me, to keep track of. I have no triggers to speak of, I’m cool with everything pretty much but I should always keep my followers and friends in mind. You should too.
I should mention New Xkit’s blacklist or any blacklist extension in general is a really good idea to make this whole thing complete.
P.S; Some people have a different way of tagging triggers too. Common one is TW.
