more robin lives au thoughts today…

robin heads up to camp alpine with finn, ernesto and gwen because someone has to be a good influence, and apparently that’s his role now that finn fights all the time. robin sits in the back seat with finn, but he doesn’t smoke in front of ernesto or gwen (they’re young and impressionable!) even if he’s itching to steal the joint from finn’s hand to have hit

robin who survives the grabber’s attack on the ice by the skin of his teeth, somehow being saved by ernesto because he wasn’t strong enough to fight back again

robin who gets back to north denver and gets into his first fight in four years because he has to prove to ernesto that he’s still capable of protecting his little brother. ernesto who never thought robin was weak, even though he stopped fighting, because he made it out of that basement alive despite everything

robin lives au where he survives being attacked by samson by some miracle and ends up with muscle function loss & weakness in his arms. he goes through occupational therapy afterwards to gain motion back and complete daily activities, but he can’t fight. that’s where finn comes in, he takes over the task of defending everyone (incl gwen and ernesto) hmhm

i think about this au a lot, i have a 3k word google doc. pls ask me whatever u want about it

also the finn and robin role swap of it all (protector & target) and how that likely would just change their friendship dynamic as a whole. not to mention the trauma bond they’d end up developing ….. sheeeeesh

That’s soo crazy idk…i’d say his best friend is this super cool lady named harlow idk if yk her. She’s really a minor character (/j) who happens to be his eventual sister in law

i mainly love it because it’s such a fun way for me to think more about yaretzi’s politics. they’re already a big part of her character (she’s a metalhead in the 80s sooo..) but she gets to express them more loudly than she does in her usual verse … mainly since it’s set around the 2000s at the earliest

it shows in yaretzi’s music too!! there’s a ton of riot grrrl bands (everything from bikinikill to heavens to betsy) she also takes inspiration from and resonates with politically. she’s very open about activism and supporting charitable causes too, which is something i know yaretzi would love doing in canon if she had the money and time to do so

also her cousin (aka robin) being alive this time around changes the vibes and leaves the whole family a lot happier. not to say yaretzi’s family members don’t have the occasional argument or fight, but there’s definitely a lot less tension than in canon

my robin fancast for band au being xolo maridueña also means a ridiculous amount to me. i don’t know why but i’m so incredibly attached to it as a concept. it’s motivating me to consider an alive robin au but i’d have no idea how to work that out. that’s a whole different can of worms

also: politics means a lot to me, i studied it in high school+sixth form and have been raised around it due to having a very politically active family (left leaning thankfully). including it as a major character aspect is something i love to do as it gives a lot of insight into morals & personality that’s hard to get otherwise :D

born and raised in denver, colorado. took her older cousin 'duties' very seriously to the point of becoming more of an older sister, even if she was only a few months older than robin. grew up very close with both of her cousins. currently living with her abuela, citali xique, after the death of her father in the vietnam war.
