HI I NEED YOU TO KNOW YOUR COMMENT ABOUT GEORGE AND DRAGON BEING KARKAT X DAVE CODED TOOK ME THE FUCK OUT BECAUSE I STARTED SHIPPING THEM BEFORE I KNEW THEY EVEN HAD... IDK CONFIRMED BACKGROUNDS BECAUSE I INTERPRETTED DRAGON'S DIALOG AS "SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED TO GEORGE AND NOW HE IS PISSED BECAUSE HE LOVED THAT GUY." I THOUGHT I REACHING AND IT WASN’T ACTUALLY THAT DEEP SO TO GET CONFIMATION THAT I WASN’T TOO FAR OFF WITH THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS JUST HYSTERICAL TO ME IDK.

This absolutely made my evening LMAOOOOOOO Yes, I absolutely can confirm that that George X Dragon is real! Nearing the end of designing them, I distinctly remember thinking “why does this look familiar…” To my awe and horror, I realized that Dragon looked like the crocodiles on Dave’s planet, and the grumpy guy (George) had horns. Naturally, I had to lean into it, besides, who was I to say no to Hussie’s psychic powers?

im gonna be honest yesterday i was thinking so hard about monster parlor that i slept and dreamed a sequel with a whole story and all like a lot more monsters and you could see the shop and the town outside AND there was rival right next to the parlor but for some reason it was just a big convenient store??? anyway, really fricking awesome monster designs!!!!!!!

Monster Parlor Sprites (Gore)

Hello, a while ago I got some requests to post the GORE versions of the monsters from Monster Parlor. BELOW the cut you may peruse at your leisure.

Random, but I enjoyed drawing the Vinegar Twins and Squids gore the most, Hera gave me the most trouble but she came out just as I imagined (she was worth the effort). If I were to redo one of them, it would be Picasso, he was a bit rushed since we were nearing the end of the game jam.

Tentative Full-Body MP Designs

Hellooo a while ago I got a request for full body designs of Marie and George from Monster Parlor… I have come to deliver! (Finally, it’s been a long time) They are rough… but done! (Don’t mind my old art watermark… I haven’t bothered to change it)

Marie

Here’s Marie! Although her face is dog like I imagined Marie to be an incompressible deep sea thing. Admittedly, I was hung up on the body and postponed for some time. However, I meshed her with a Nessie/dragon/tendril like body. There is no limit to the length, number, or size of these tendrils, just only that as they swish around her body, they form these infinity loops. Her body has mother of pearl or opalescent in appearance (shoddily depicted). Naturally, her color palette was inspired by sea foam and pearls. I did my best to make her have a cheerful or almost impish look. Lastly… while I was designing her I realized her front teeth stuck out in the og sprite. If you look closely, she has an overbite!

George

Now the big boy… George! I definitely saw him having a stout, muscular body. Meta said that he’s regal enough to be the guard dog for a king and as strong as a draft horse for ploughing fields… which is exactly what I was going for! I did my best to show those muscles, but if it’s troublesome to imagine, imagine the powerful shoulders and chest of a big cat or a horse. To explain myself for the homestuck thing… inadvertently him and Dragon are KarkatXDave coded… it was an accident guys… I promise…

Closing Thoughts

Midway through drawing these guys I wondered what were other peoples initial expectations for their bodies? Are these drawings going to be what they expected or hoped for? Which has made me curious, if you want to draw any of these monsters, you may draw them as you imagined them. I think filling in the gaps of the unknown is what makes literally everything (especially art) very enjoyable!

It has a few more pieces (a gift, sketches, commissions and some character design mostly), I’ve been meaning to post them here eventually so that way the two accounts are “synched up”.

I also have tons and tons of WIPs and other art pieces from days gone by I might post as well (although they are quite old), but we’ll see! This year I am hoping to get more pieces done (my school schedule allowing).

Endermen Speculative Bio (1/?)

A while back, I decided to make my own interpretation of an Endermen! (Edits for clarity)

Endermen are perpetually stooped, and have long, dragging appendages. Some speculate their unusually long arms and fingers help them forage and consume Chorus fruit (yet to be confirmed). Being from a realm of perpetual darkness, the Endermen’s most notable feature is their bulging, purple eyes.

The body is taught, lean, and hairless (aside from the wisps on their head). Although they are curiously veiny, there is no blood, rather, they are hollow like woodwinds. Some believe that these hollow passages are how they produce clicks and chirps for communication. Upon autopsy, their cavity is hollow, aside from an “Ender Pearl”. These objects are believed to power their being, somehow.

The Endermen’s disposition is that of perpetual anxiety and meekness. They avoid interaction, especially eye contact, preferring to be passive observers. However in extreme or threatening circumstances, an Enderman will react dramatically.

This process starts by a single, violent vacuum created by sucking in air. The force is so powerful that the throat is collapsed and pulled through their mouths. Their jaw dislocates to accommodate the stretch, and their eyes bulge from the pressure. The lips will also flip over their snouts to bare needle like teeth.

Due to the distortion of their neck and throat, the Endermen’s body is pulled ramrod straight. The shoulder blades cinch, the chest is puffed out, and their arms stick out rigidly. In most cases, the Enderman will use its arms to slash at its offender. Furthmore, the constant vacuum creates an ungodly cacophony. All in all, this makes for an imposing sight.

But with all that said, this display is not only painful to perform for long periods of time, but it’s also distressing to their psyche. Therefore, they do everything in their power to get the situation over with.

These are some of my favorite monsters that I had the pleasure of designing for the 2023 Winter Melon Jam. The theme was “charm” and we ran with the idea of making a “monster parlor”, where your objective is to make these creatures more “charming”.

Our game “Monster Parlor” was made within 72 hours by me, @puddleorganism , cobyte, and smallbuggames!

On another note, I’m superrrrr interested in the idea of making speculative biology/species out of some of these guys.
