i prefer to just go by dog here for ease - he/him, body is 24

i am an alter in a system but i won’t be linking our main; this blog specifically belongs to me

i use this blog partially as a diary of sorts as to how things are going with our transition (and what that means to me in the present), and partially as a storage space for various kinds of posts. anything that relates to gender in a way that i identify with, i bring here

some of this content might not be comfortable for minors and as such, i’d recommend that you don’t follow if you’re under the age of 18 - i likely won’t interact too personally if you’re under the age of 20, but you are free to follow, send asks if you want, etc

afternoon sunshine ☀️

it really feels nice to be able to look at my body and actually enjoy it. i don’t worry about my weight as much, because it has a different shape on me than it used to, and it feels like it matches a lot better. i don’t really worry about my stretch marks, because my husband loves them. my chest will forever be a comfortable flat.

pride parade was today :) my first parade on T

my husband, qpp, and i went together as we do every year. a local queer organization had made a post offering for people to walk with them, so we met up once we got there and went with them through the parade

i got to hand out candy (mostly jolly ranchers) - the organization we met with asked if i wanted to, and i said sure! i did give most of it out to kids, but i also made sure to give some to people who were older, from teenagers to seniors. everyone would get so excited, and the ones who weren’t sitting with kids didn’t expect it at all! it was really nice to make people across the entire age spectrum smile :]

i got a surprising amount of compliments on my shirt, and more comments than last year about my hat! i didn’t see that coming at all, but i’m very happy that it did. someone from a local news organization also asked us if we wanted to do an interview about why we were there, but being on tv was a little more nerve wracking for me than just being in person. although it would’ve been very funny to be on the news with the shirt i was wearing (picture below read more)

I love living my irl life stealth until someone looks at my incredibly transgender art and I out myself and die a little inside. Maybe I'll reblog this with an explanation later, but rn I trust Tumblrs ability to look at something with nuance.

if you see a trans man that’s too deep into tumblr discourse cycles, you have to regularly pull him out and remind him that he’s loved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to tell him that his masculinity isn’t inherently evil or dangerous or antifeminist and that he shouldn’t feel guilty for being himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to let him know he has people who love him for his manhood, and not in spite of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to be there for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to be there for trans men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you ever think it's too late to transition, just know that my top surgeon told me that when he first started doing gender-affirming mastectomies forty years ago, all the guys he did it on were in their fifties and sixties. That was just how long it took to realize they were trans back then. If it wasn't too late for them, it isn't too late for you

Being trans is like being given a house that sucks. The pipes are leaky and the wallpaper is so ugly and the beds are lumpy and you feel uncomfortable every time you set foot in there.

Everyone else seems to really like their houses though, and you can’t see inside of them, so you just assume that you’re being weird.

And then you hear about the construction project that’s happening down the road. And you didn’t know that was an option. You can just…fix your house? It can be better? You don’t have to live with the horrible lighting and weird furniture?

But other people scoff at the construction. They complain about the noise. “Why can’t they just be happy? The plumbing is great and the furniture is so comfortable! Why would you change it? And why do we have to deal with all their issues anyways? They could just do it quietly, away from us!” And you thought everyone hated their houses, at least a little. And it’s so much work to renovate. It’s fine in your house. It sucks, but it’s fine.

Then one day you try putting up a new painting. Something small. Just for you. Just to try it. And it feels like you. It feels right. And you didn’t know anything felt that good, ever. So you start to do more. And more. And eventually you might even start construction. And it’s inconvenient, and loud, and people complain, but you didn’t know that it could feel good to go home.

And then, one day, your renovations are done. And you get to have a home like everyone else. And that joy you felt looking at that painting? It’s everywhere now. And it’s normal.

It’s hard to build the home for your soul all on your own. But it’s worth it. It’s so worth it
