The first time we hear Ilya call Shane sweetheart is gonna hit like crack

Ilya carries himself well, better even, after he gets fat. He’s always had presence, but now he has gravity. Moving slower doesn’t matter when the people who need him come to him, and they do. He’s huge and he’s fucking magnetic and his opinions (hockey commentary, life advice) carry weight.

He (with a hand from shane) keeps himself well groomed, hair pushed back more often than not, clothes tailored or custom made, half-buttoned shirts to show off his impressive chest. Always smells warm and a little sweet and smoky. Astronomical sex appeal.

He’s at the center of the (dinner) party sat back in his very sturdy chair taking up all the space he deserves, belly-laughing with his hotass husband on his arm. Things have never been bigger or better.

shane in the first year of their relationship, especially, taking the opportunity of mealtimes or general downtime to go through those "get to know your significant other" question lists with ilya. what's your favourite colour. what's your biggest fear. what's your most embarrassing memory. etc. ilya finds this very very cute and answers every question after serious deliberation. they find out so many tiny, silly, insignificant, surprising, endearing, wonderful things about each other. some of the answers lead to full conversations before they go back to the lists (or decide to pick them up another time). they laugh until they cry and roast each other's opinions on things and get goopy-eyed more than once (or twice. or ten times.) and by the time they've exhausted all the good lists they each have a precious library full of facts about the other person in their heads. knowing more things about someone doesn't necessarily mean you love them more, but sometimes you can't say I love you every other breath, and saying I got you the blue one because I knew you'd hate the orange is the same thing.

it’s so special to me that so much of fan culture is textual analysis for the love of the game. like thank god there are people in my phone who are also thinking about this thing i love so much that they are writing transformative fiction as character studies and setting clips of the show to music with theme-relevant lyrics and writing long text posts analyzing every line of dialogue like!! yay!!!
