The 11th fatui harbinger
body positivity has largely failed because people started arguing for attractiveness and romantic prospects instead of respect and dignity
this is truly the best summary of what all of this SHOULD be about
How clearly does the point need to be made that “police officer” is just a fucking job, one with minimal training and minimal monitoring. It is NOT some kind of promise of honesty, truth, or heroism. It is a bunch of assistant managers with extremely powerful weapons. IF you can understand “pedophiles choose to be priests and teachers so they can get to children”, IF you understand “arsonists choose to be firefighters so they can be present at their own crimes” - then you can ALSO understand “people who are bigoted, violent, and power-hungry choose to be cops for the opportunities the job presents” and you can ALSO understand “any occupational culture that chooses fraternity over justice - and the allowance of violence in the name of a unified front - is therefore siding with their worst representatives”
I love it 10/10,,,, Almost forgot to come here today.

People who are old enough to remember ad free YouTube, FB, Twitter and Instagram believing that capitalism drives innovation are fucking hilarious.
Like, all of those platforms were still profitable…massively profitable before they had targeted ads on your feed and unskippable ads before videos. They didn’t need to bring them in. They weren’t going to go under, their CEOs weren’t living in the backseats of their cars, they were living in mansions already. They just wanted more money.
Greed was the only reason. Capitalism is the reason they made their platforms and the user experience worse. That’s it.
It the same with the companies saying video games need microtransactions to stay profitable. Because I remember they being plenty profitable for a couple of decades before microtransactions were a thing.
I ain’t exactly a blind capitalism fan, but this is incorrect.
Facebook didn’t turn a profit until 2009
Twitter didn’t turn a profit until 2018
Instagram… I can’t find any estimates for it due to Facebook obsfucation, but up until Facebook bought them out in 2014 they were hemorrhaging money.
Youtube is still a loser.
All of these corporations were playing for market share, not revenue, at the beginning. They were subsisting off mass cash infusions by rich folks gambling that once the corporations controlled the market for these things, they could then jack up the monetization efforts.
Microtransactions are the fucking devil, but the price of AAA games got locked at $60 around 2005 somehow, and are now impossible to increase since everyone now expects that AAA games will be $60; whichever game dev went first would die in controversy. Thus the only way to actually increase prices in step with inflation was micro transactions, unfortunately.

non-mainstream steampunk | Original by Priest / p大 synopsis: happy ending [Trust me! =w=]
“The first person to dig ziliujin out of the ground could never have predicted that what they dug out was the beginning of a dog-eat-dog age.
Our entire life was but an ugly confidence game of greed; this is something everyone knows, but that they could not bring to light.
From where did this con begin? Maybe from atop the first clean white canvas sails of a foreign ship that sailed across the ocean, or from beneath the great wing of a Giant Kite as it rose unsteadily into the skies — or from a time even before that: as the spreading ziliujin, like an ink stain upon the earth, turned the great plains of the wild north into a sea of flames.
Or maybe it was when We … when I met Gu Yun in a world all covered in ice and snow.”
