Underneath the Mistletoe | Dominic & Jayden

Jayden was glad that they had finally released Dominic from the hospital. If he was being honest he had not been looking forward to spending Christmas at the hospital but he knew that if Dominic was still there he wouldn't have left his side. Now that he was out he was going to be with him wherever he went just to make sure he didn't touch that stuff ever again. He couldn't lose him, not now. Jay squeezed his hand, looking up through his lashes shyly because this was all still new to him. "I could care less about Christmas. I'm just happy to know that you're alive."

Dominic stopped walking and pulled Jayden close to him. He cupped his cheeks lightly and kissed his nose. "I promise you. I swear on my life, that I will never ever do heroin again, Jay... When I - when I started blacking out, I was so scared... So scared that I would never see you again and that was the worst thing I had ever experienced. I am so sorry you had to experience that." He kissed his forehead this time. "I love you Jay. I'm not leaving and I promise you that... And I do care about Christmas because you deserve to have an amazing Christmas. I'm going to do everything I can to make you happy, you just have to tell me what you want and I'll do it for you." He looked up into the boys eyes. "anything."

Jayden leaned into the touch, it just felt normal for him to have the other's hands on his body even if it was only his face. He smiled as he listened to Dominic's words. "Just keep your promise this time, yeah? And that's all I really ask for because just as how it was a horrible experience for you, it was probably worse for me because I actually thought I had lost you." He blinked furiously willing the tears to go away and not spill down his face. "I really don't want anything. I just want a quiet evening just me and you. This has been pretty hectic for me and I'd love to just relax."

Dominic smiled and nodded, taking his hand again and walking away from the hospital. "I'm guessing we're walking home?" he asked with a squeeze to Jay's hand. "I missed you so much, you know? I thought I'd really fucked it up... Like beyond repair. It was selfish of me to... You know, go down on you when you were obviously upset by it. But I just wanted you so badly." He sighed, "I'm sorry." He rubbed his thumb over the boys hand lightly. "But I love you, you know that now, yeah?" he whispered, wanting to squeeze his hand tighter but he didn't want to hurt Jay.

Jayden rubbed the back of his neck before turning to look at Dominic with a sheepish look on his face. "Yeah…about that. When it happened I practically had a panic attack so I was in no state to drive your car. Luckily the paramedics let me ride in the back with you…well they kinda couldn't get me to let go of you so they didn't really have a choice." He fell into stride beside Dom, "Let's just not talk about that, yeah? It's just kinda weird… to walk about. But eventually I think I'd be ready to try it again." He smiled, nodding his head slightly. "Me too," he muttered.

Dominic chuckled a little and shook his head, "Yeah, that sounds like you..." he but his lip and looked up at the boy. "How'd you get into the bathroom? I locked the door... Did they like break the door down or something?" he asked, looking to his friend with a small smile. He nodded, "Yeah, of course... Sorry." he said, looking down, "I just keep putting my foot in my mouth, don't I?" He asked with a sigh. "Sorry about that." He looked back to Jay, "Wait... You want to... You want to try again as in... Me uh... You know?" he asked, a little confused. "What do to you want for dinner?"

Jayden grinned sheepishly at Dominic again as the memory of that night came back to him. "Well, I kinda panicked when you called out my name so like I had no idea what was going on and I kept calling you and you wouldn't answer so I started slamming my whole body against the door until I was able to break it. Got quite the bruises but I'm just glad I was able to get to you in time." He shrugged his shoulders looking down at his feet. "Yeah…don't worry about it now. I've forgiven you already. A long time ago actually." He looked back up at Dominic looking at him shyly. "Yeah, I mean seeing you in the hospital like that and knowing that I almost lost you made me realize how stupid I had been for wasting so much time. And I…I'd like to try it again. When we're both sober," he mumbled. "Anything that's open. I don't think there's that many places still open at this time since it's Christmas Eve. They usually close early so they can be with their families."

Dominic looked at the boy with wide eyes, “You’re the one that broke the door down? Wow, Jay – you really are my superman. Don’t even bother trying to say you’re not now because you’ve literally saved my life now, so…” He chuckled a little, “You’ve always been my superman though, even when you didn’t believe it.” Now I’m just wondering how many kisses it’ll take to make your pain go away like they used to… when I used to kiss your bruises and you’d lie and say that they felt all better.” Dom smiled and nodded, looking over at the boy again, he couldn’t help the way his heart just felt like it grew ten times bigger every time he looked at him just to fit all the love he had for him inside. “I know… thank you. I don’t deserve forgiveness but I’m glad you gave it anyway.” He bit his lip, looking down, he wondered how long it would take for the guilt he felt over this whole drugs situation to go away. He was pretty sure it wouldn’t be any time soon. “You were looking out for yourself, Jay. I’m glad you did… if you let people hurt you like I did, you would never be happy so I’m glad you didn’t talk to me until you were ready… for your sake. You weren’t wasting time, you were fixing yourself and I want you happy, yeah? That’s literally all I want from life.” He nodded, squeezing his hand, “I’d love that… and – and I’ll make it special. I swear, I’ll make it good for you, Jay. You deserve that… fuck, you deserve candles and the whole lot.” He shrugged, “I can cook us something if you want? Something easy, we’ll have a proper dinner tomorrow.”

Jayden nodded shyly turning his face to look down at his feet to watch the sidewalk which just seemed easier to do than to look Dominic in the face. "I just panicked and I didn't know what to do. It was all I could think of in that moment." He could feel heat rushing up his neck and all over his face when Dominic called him his Superman. He laughed quietly into his hand before shrugging not really knowing how to reply. "I had already forgiven you though….I just had been too much of a coward to tell you. It was the worst feeling you know? Sitting there in the hospital chair not being able to see you and not knowing how you were doing. That's when I decided that if you made it through this I'd stop being such a coward and tell you." He smiled, looking back up to get a look at his face. "You don't have to do all that. It would be special just knowing you'll be my first." He leaned over, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. "That sounds nice. I'd really like that. It'd be the best Christmas I've ever had."

Dominic felt immensely guilty at what he had put Jayden through. Jay didn’t deserve that, not one bit. “I’m so sorry I made you do that, Jay. Honestly, you shouldn’t have had to do that… no person should ever have to fear for the lives of their loved ones like that. Heroin is out of my life… I won’t do it or sell it, I’m sorry.” He nodded and squeezed the boy’s hand, “I know you did, you weren’t a coward, Jayden. I understand okay? I understand why you didn’t tell me and I don’t blame you. Not even a little for it. You have to look after yourself before me, I should be second priority, or third or fourth, never first. I know it must have been terrible, I would… just die seeing you in a hospital bed like that. I am so glad you forgive me though… thank you.” Dominic couldn’t help the grin at the boy’s words. “I’m glad I’ll be your first… your first should definitely be someone that loves you, Jay… I’m glad yours will be. I just really want it to be so special for you, is that okay? Can I make it special?” Dom looked to the boy, “Good, that’s all I want, you to have the best Christmas ever.”

Jayden waved him off, he had gotten over the scare now that he could see for his own that Dominic was alive. "It's okay, honestly don't worry about it. Just promise me that you'll never touch that stuff and that's all I really ask for. Because I don't know if I'll be able to take another scare like that one." He joked trying to lighten the mood since it was Christmas eve after all. He smiled, glad that Dominic was being so understanding about why he hadn't said anything and just hoped that they would be able to put this whole thing behind them. "That's the thing, you are my first priority. You're all I've got. You make my life worth living so I should be doing my best to protect you just as much as you protect me." He blushed, nodding his head. "Yeah…okay you can do that if you really want to." He smiled into the sleeve of his hoodie trying to hide the huge grin on his face from the boy's words. "It's really not that hard of a feat with my past history of Christmases spent by myself."

Dominic nodded slowly, sighing a little, “Okay, if you’re sure. I swear, Jay. On my life. Heroin is out of my life – I’m never touching it again after I get rid of the stuff in my bag… when that’s gone, I swear, I’ll never touch the stuff… I won’t even look at it or talk about it.” He laughed a little, just really wanting to see his boy smile. He looked over at the boy, letting go of his hand to wrap an arm around his waist and pull him closer – as close as possible. “I know I am, but I shouldn’t be… after the life you’ve had, you deserve to think about what you need before you think of what others need. You’re my first priority because I’ve always been given everything on a silver platter; you haven’t… you deserve to be thought about as the most important thing for a while, yeah?” Dom grinned, his hand slipping into the back pocket of Jayden’s jeans. “I do really want to… it’s all I want, really.” He whispered, “I don’t want this to be about me… our first time is going to be about you and about us… about making you feel amazing and showing you that we are meant to be together… though, I’m sure you already believe that.” Dominic bit his lip, “You’ve spent a few Christmases with us through the years, though…”

Jayden smiled wanting to reassure Dominic that he was sure. "More than anything. I just glad to have you back with me and not stuck in that hospital bed. It just made me want to never see another needle in my life again. It would probably only remind me of that night." He giggled as he fitted himself against Dominic's side and rested his head on the boy's shoulder. "That's just not really me though. Even though I've never had anything that I've ever wanted I'm just not a selfish person. I'd rather give to other people the things that I was never able to have. It's just kind of late for me I think…to be thinking that way." He bit his lip, hiding his smirk in the crook of the boy's neck when he felt his hand go inside of his back pocket. "Someone's getting handsy," he teased. "It will all be amazing just knowing that it's you. Like even if you were really bad I'd still love it because it's you." He nodded his head, "Yeah I know and each year was the best…I was just talking about the Christmases before I ever came to yours or the ones when you ended up going out of town."

Dominic nodded and looked over at the boy as they finally started nearing his house. “I’m glad to be back, I was scared, Jay… I really was, but having you there… looking after me, it really helped me like you have no idea. I just wanted to get out as soon as possible to be able to hold you and look after you and make sure you slept in my bed after all those nights you spent sleeping in that hospital chair you silly boy.” He sighed and nodded, “I’m going to give you everything that I can to make up for all those things you missed, Jay. I’m going to look after you… provide for you like you dad never did.” He looked to the boy, “Has… has mum been in the house much since I went to hospital?” He laughed at the boy’s comment, “Can you blame me? Your ass looks so amazing in skinny jeans; I can’t help but want to get a feel of it.” He laughed and shook his head, “Well, I know I’m not bad at it, so that’s got to be another plus, yeah? It’s me, and I’m good in bed, you’re really getting lucky here, Jay.” He joked, “I don’t think sex can be bad when you love the person though… and if it is, practice makes perfect.” Dom nodded, “Well… you’re never going to spend Christmas alone again, okay? I promise.”

Jayden lifted his shoulders and dropping them, he didn't really know how to explain that it was nothing for him. He would have done it again if it meant that Dominic got better. "Well, now that you're out you can actually do all of that and more. Although I'd sleep in a chair any day to make sure that you're alright no matter how uncomfortable it may be." He smiled down at his feet feeling a warm feeling inside of his chest. "Thank you, but you don't have to do all that. I don't want you to go out of your way for me." He bit his lip, not really knowing how to answer. "I wouldn't really know since I was always by your side. But she was never there when I came back to shower and change. She was probably just at work, though?" Jay blushed at the compliment not being used to hearing people talk about him like that. "You're so cocky, I'd hate to have to laugh at you if you were to uh come early." He nodded, pulling away from his as they finally reached the house, stepping back to let Dom open the door. "You have to keep that promise forever."

Dominic bit his lip, smiling and squeezing Jay’s hand. “I don’t know how or why you’re so perfect, but I am so glad that you love me… because I am so in love with you.” He pulled the boy into his driveway and up to the house. He unlocked the door before pausing when he stepped in. He looked up at the mistletoe that his mum must have hung there, like she usually did before one of her parties. Looking back to Jayden, he smiled, their first kiss was right in this spot… on Christmas eve six years ago… he couldn’t help pulling the boy in so their bodies were pressed together. “I think we should make this a tradition.” He murmured before cupping the boy’s cheeks and pulling him into a proper, heart-warming-toe-curlin​g-body-tingling kiss, the kind you see in movies and it usually brings all the forty plus year old women to tears because of how utterly romantic it is. When he pulled away he licked his lips and looked at Jay, “And I’m not cocky, just confident, and you’re right, I might come early, but that will only be because it’ll be you underneath me, begging for me, moaning my name and I don’t think I could really take much of that before it gets too much for my body…” He murmured as his lips pressed back to Jays. He pulled him in close, roughly, one hand moving to pull his hair lightly. “I’m never going to break a promise to you again.” He murmured against his lips.

Jayden stumbled behind Dominic as he opened the door, bumping into him when the boy stopped to look at the mistletoe hanging on the door frame. He was barely able to nod his head before Dominic had his lips on his. It felt like he'd waited forever for this to happen again, but before he could even properly enjoy it Dominic was pulling away from him. Jay smiled dazedly at the boy feeling like if he was released his body would just float away like a balloon. He touched his lips with his hand, suddenly feeling too hot from the kiss and the boy's words. "I-I don't really know what to say to that," he blushed, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. He moaned softly when the boy pulled on his hair, only just finding out that apparently he was into that. "Good, because I don't think I'd be able to forgive you again."

Dominic laughed and rolled his eyes, "You never know what to say to anything I say to you." He murmured, watching the boy's face. He loved seeing that smile on Jay's face, it only meant one thing, Jayden was happy... and that was all that Dom wanted. He wanted his Jay to be smiling and happy... if kisses were going to make him that happy then he would never stop kissing him if he could. Dom nodded, "You never have to worry about that okay... if there is something you want, you can have it, if you want me to stop taking heroin, I'll do it, if you want me to drink less alcohol, I'll do it... whatever you want." He whispered, his fingers grazing Jay's skin lightly, just looking over his face and thinking about how heartbreakingly beautiful he is. "Mum's having a party tonight... that mistletoe wouldn't be there otherwise... I think I want tonight to just be about us, though... I want to be alone with you. I'm - I'm going to show you something... something I've never shown anyone before, not even my parents... it's my special place... but I want it to be our special place."

Jayden laughed ducking his head in embarrassment. "I do, just not when it's sexual. You've got to remember that this is all new to me. I'm probably going to be really awkward, just don't say that I didn't tell you." He mumbled down at his feet. "I don't…I don't think it would be fair to restrict you from everything, unless you think that it would like make you do something that you'll regret later. All I truly want is for you to just give up heroin, never to touch that stuff ever again. That would be enough for me." He nodded, cocking his head to the side wondering what 'special place' he was talking about and why he didn't already know about it. "Um…okay…so where is this secret place of yours and how come I don't know about it?" He looked at the boy expectantly.

Dominic laughed softly, he loved Jayden so much, he wondered how long he would be able to go on without his heart exploding. “I know it’s all new to you. I love that it’s all new to you, I want to show you everything, teach you everything… I just – I’ve always wanted to be the one to do that for you. I’m so glad that I get to be. I’ve never wanted something more.” He nodded and smiled, “Thank you, Jay… I’m glad that you don’t want me to quit everything… but from my own decision, I do want to cut down on some of these things… I did most of them because I was miserable and I don’t feel miserable when you smile at me like that, you know that smile you do, like – like I’m your world? Now that I know what it really means when you smile at me like that, I am so happy. Every day I want to wake up now, because of you. You were always my reason for wanting to wake up, but now… now it just means so much more, and I swear Jay, I will never touch heroin again. I don’t even want to.” He chuckled and shook his head, “You know about it, you just don’t know that it’s special, you think it’s just a place for storage.” He pulled the boy closer, “The granny flat outside.” He whispered. He looked to the boy and pulled him to the back of the house and out the door to the backyard. It was a two storey building, quite small in size, about the size of a normal apartment. It didn’t have a big bathroom or a kitchen, it was more compact, but the whole second storey was just one room, and Dominic had transformed that room into the bedroom. The bottom half was the bathroom, kitchen, laundry part, but it also had an open space. An open space that was covered in a white sheet and splatters of paint, with the walls painted all kinds of colours and more paintings and drawings of Jayden than he would like to admit littering the floors and walls. He slowly pulled Jayden to the door before pulling out his key and unlocking it. As he held his breath, a little nervous for Jay’s reaction, he opened the door and let Jay in first, before closing and locking the door behind it. “It’s always been my escape from the world, but I don’t want to escape from you anymore… I want this to be our home… if you’ll let it.”

Jayden his eyes widened, imagining all of the things that Dominic could mean by everything. The options seemed limitless and he was excited and nervous at the same time about exploring all of those things with Dominic. He trusted the boy to lead him through everything. "I-I'm looking forward to doing all of that with you. I trust you…with everything." He smiled, bringing Dominic's hand up to his mouth so that he could kiss each knuckle. "I'm happy to hear that, Dom. Seriously, I just want you to have a healthy life and I wouldn't want you to throw it away because of drugs. I'm happy that I'm all of those things for you." He furrowed his eyebrows as Dominic led him around to the back of the house to where he thought the storage was at. He waited patiently as Dominic unlocked the door and then stepped in when the boy stepped aside letting him go in first. His eyes became wide as he took in all the paintings on the walls and on the floors they were just everywhere. What only surprised him even more was that a lot of them seemed to be of him. He quickly turns around to face Dominic, his mouth slightly open. "Did you paint all of these? They're so good!" Jay turns back around looking around the room only now remembering what Dominic said before he entered. "Do you really mean that?"

Dominic honestly could not sum up his love for this boy into words, there were no words to describe it, it was more than love for him, it was adoration for this boy and everything he was and believed in, pride for how far he had come in the eleven years he had known him, idolization because this boy was the thing that kept him up all these years when all he wanted to do was fall down and not get back up... it was all these feelings and there was no way for him to actually say everything, because no words really summed up how much he loved Jayden. "I won't let you down, Jay... I love you more than you can imagine, I'm only going to give you the best of what I can give." When the boy kissed his knuckles, he felt his heart swell in his chest. He truly was so lucky that Jayden chose him, him of all people. "I want to live as long as I can so that I can be with you, a lifetime with you is so much more important than the drugs." He watched the boy's reaction, smiling a little shyly as he saw the boy look around in amazement or something like that. He smiled at the boy, cupping his cheeks in his hands, "Every one... you're my muse, Jay. Every painting in here is either of you or inspired by you, because nothing else matters." He said quietly, "This is why you were never allowed in here... I couldn't risk you knowing." He said with a slight blush. "I mean it, Jay. I do, I want to be with you, forever and I don't want to live forever in this flat, but I want this flat to be our beginning." He took the boy's hand and pulled him towards the stairs, "It's not much." He said, climbing up the stairs slowly, "But it's what I want and I think... I think you'd want it to." He smiled as they got to the second floor, the bedroom. All it had was a bed and a few bedroom accessories, but he knew they could make it theirs. "We can paint it together... make it our little piece of heaven, I just want to be with you Jay, just us, away from the world." He turned to Jay, he actually had tears in his eyes but he didn't care, thinking about his future life with Jay always got him emotional, in the best way.

Jayden laughed, suddenly feeling playfully. He didn't really know where this sudden playfulness was coming from but he figured that after a month of his life being complete shit it was nice to finally be able to smile a bit. "I bet I love you more. Like any amount you claim to love me with I'll always love you that much plus one. I think that's how it's always been because you've been like my protector even when I didn't need any help. Even when I was big enough to fight my own battles." A huge grin pasted itself on his face, turning around and giving the boy a hug. "They're beautiful, even with such a broken muse like me. I bet you'd make thousands if you ever sold your paintings. You're really good, Dom." If Jay smiled any bigger, his face was surely bound to rip in two from how much he seemed to suddenly be smiling. "God, Dom I'd love nothing more than to live here with you. And like you said it would be our beginning because I want great things to happen to us." He followed the boy upstairs to the bedroom and looked around wide eyed. "It's perfect! And painting it would be so much fun. He frowned when he saw the boy crying. "What's wrong?" He asked, cupping his face and using his thumb to gently brush his tears away, before stepping forward and kissing him. "Seriously, it's perfect!" He exclaimed, after pulling away.

Dominic grinned at the sound of the boy laughing, that sound was honestly one of his favourites, along with Jayden singing and Jayden moaning... he knew he shouldn't have heard the last one yet, but he couldn't help but remember that night that caused the mess between them and the sounds Jayden made had stuck in his mind for weeks. "There is no way you love me more. I think we must just love each other the same amount... we grew up with each other and honestly, you own my whole heart, if you asked me to, I would pull it out and hand it over to you. I'm not kidding." Dominic hugged the boy back happily, buring his face in the boy's neck. "Jay, you're not broken, not at all... you're just bent okay, I'm going to fix you. I promised you that and I will always stick to my promise." He whispered into his skin. "I think the only reason they would sell so much would be because of the beautiful figure depicted in them... and the emotion shown in the ones that aren't of your face." He couldn't help but feel the swell in his chest at the boy's words, that he wanted what Dom was offering him, he wanted this life with him, and he wanted good things to happen to them. Fuck, he was so gone for Jayden Lowe. He nodded at the boy's words, agreeing with the fun part. He then smiled when the boy cupped his cheeks, "Nothing's wrong, Jay. I just love you. I love you so much... I can't even keep my hands off you right now, I just want to show you how much I love you." He whispered, "They're happy tears, Jay." He whispered before kissing the boy, holding him to him for a few moments before moving his hands down his body and gently lifting him up, he held him tightly as he walked over to the bed, not letting their lips part before laying him down. He only pulled away when he needed to breath, looking over the boy underneath him as he did. "You are so beautiful... the most beautiful person I have ever laid eyes on, did you know that? I love you." He said again before leaning in and kissing him again, his hands moving back to cup his cheeks again.

Jayden shook his head wanting to prove that he loved Dominic more than Dominic loved him. "Nope, I don't agree. I think you're just saying that because you know that I love you more and the only way you could compete would be if we called it a tie." He grimaced and the boy talked about ripping his own heart out to give it to him. "No, it's fine I won't ask you to rip out your heart. I think I like it very much where it is right now. Plus it keeps you alive so no complaints there." He rolled his eyes, recognizing the lyrics from that Pink song. "Now you're just singing Pink to me." He shook his head, "Nah, my face has nothing to do with it. It would just be your pure talent. They would probably just think that I'm some person that you just created for your paintings or something." Jay laughed at the boy's words, thinking he sounded a bit crazy. "Well, I didn't know loving me was such a bad thing that it makes you cry. I'll have to buy you some chocolates later as a form of an apology." He gasp when he felt Dominic pick him up, quickly wrapping his arms around the boy's neck. He kissed back, his hands cupping his neck holding him closer against his body. "I love you too, Dom."

Dominic pouted and crossed his arms, "Well I don't agree with you but I don't want to have this discussion either. I still think I love you more, no matter what you say Jay. Deep down, I know that I love you the most." He chuckled a little, "Why are you so sure you love me the most anyway? How could you be sure?" He laughed and placed his hand against his chest, "I'm glad, because I don't quite fancy dying just yet, you know? I mean, if you really wanted it, to be happy, I would give it to you, but I'd quite like to be able to enjoy you being happy." Dominic frowned and tried to think of what pink song he was talking about. "Oh, the one with the Fun Guy? I wasn't actually quoting it, but I guess I did unintentionally do that." He couldn't help but study Jayden, watching him with dark eyes, "It has everything to do with your face. You're so beautiful... I would buy hundreds of paintings, if they were of you." Dominic shook his head, "Loving you is the best thing that has ever happened to me." He leaned in again, kissing the boy gently this time, his hands moving down and slipping under his shirt, slowly moving up over the lines of his muscles and smooth skin. He had waited years for this and he couldn't believe it was really happening.

Jayden laughed, playfully smacking his arm. "I just know, it's like a gut feeling I've got about this. Like I would blindly follow you anywhere because I know that you wouldn't steer me wrong." He grimaced at the thought of holding someone's heart in his hand. "Yeah, no thanks. That would be too much blood for me. Don't think I'd be able to stomach it. I really appreciate the thought though." He scrunched up his nose. "You're just saying that because you're you and I'm me. But nobody else would do the same thing. It's just because you like me so you are biased." He kissed Dominic back, freezing up when he felt the boy's hands go under his shirt before relaxing into it and continued kissing him back. It was a new feeling having someone else's hands on his body but he would just have to get used to Dominic's touch. He trusted the boy to take care of him and never hurt him.

Dominic shook his head, "No way, what if I have a gut feeling that I love you more? Then who wins? If we both just have that same gut feeling, then how are we going to really determine who loves who the most?" He laughed and rolled his eyes at the boy, "You never could handle blood. I remember that one time I accidentally cut my leg really bad with some sheet of metal and when I tried to get you to help me you just turned white. Do you remember that?" Dominic shrugged, "I don't know about that, Jay. You face is gorgeous and I'd seriously like to get someone's head checked if they didn't think you were a beautiful muse.
