Seriously though, Goose literally said he was one of the main characters, and he was all over the trailer and cover, he's going to have a lot of screentime. If you don't like a shows protagonist with a burning passion, you probably should just not watch the show :/

If you see me still use he/him pronouns for Jax, please know it's not to misgender him or to deny that he's transfem. Because I believe I should only use pronouns that I'm specifically asked to use, and Jax is technically still in the closet and hasn't told anyone to use she/her pronouns for him, I'm not going to make that choice for him, because that's not my place. Pronoun usage relies on consent, it's important to follow what the individual tells you rather than just what you think they actually want.

If you want to use she/her pronouns for Jax, by all means, go ahead! Jax isn't real so he won't actually care either way, I'm just doing this according to my own moral code.

I find it so hilarious how some people are saying that Rebecca Sugar would have fixed The Amazing Digital Circus because when Steven Universe was nearing its end, everyone decided to follow the word of a child predator claiming that Steven Universe was garbage and that Rebecca Sugar was a nazi sympathizer. Next thing you know, everyone hated Steven Universe for the next three or so years and any fans of the series were labeled as unhygienic tumblr kids.

Would TADC go extra hard if RS had a role in it? most definitely, but it's ironic how so many people are claiming RS would have fixed TADC when everyone hated her and her writing back then.

ok sorry still mad about people misinterpreting a certain Plot Point in the tadc finale so. under the cut

"oh so the trans character kills herself??? this show is transphobic" JESUS CHRIST YOU PEOPLE ARE INSANE. Jax repressed himself to the point of abstraction, then Pomni finds a way to reach him even through his broken mental state, and the gang puts him in a safe and comfortable blanket fort where s/he can relax and get his senses back in order without hurting himself or others. The other abstractions get to be seen being happy and at peace. No it's not IDEAL but it's basically like having a mental break that just needs some care and attention instead of Cellar. We do not see any Abstractions get fixed but the episode does leave it open-ended as to how much they will one day be able to be reached, and the characters have eternity to figure it out. Jax finally opens up to Pomni in that headspace and it's far from impossible she can still talk to him in this state.

it's also not like Jax is the only trans/queer character. Zooble is nonbinary/genderqueer and makes it through the entire show, is given emotional depth and weight to their own dysphoria and character struggles, and then gets to end the show with their human self opening a successful (implied) queer bar and their digital self having epic gay sex!! (entire theater cheered and clapped at that btw)

like. look me in the eyes. do you think that a trans woman show creator would write a trans woman character just to kill her out of malice?? like do you think she was maybe trying to say something with the abstractions and Jax's repression and the fact there is still hope and time for him and his human self?? are we operating on this level of media literacy or are we just looking for things to get mad at

I really, REALLY hope that transmasc Jax truthers respect how Jax's storyline turned out instead of saying "this sucks because Jax's isn't the gender that I want"

That being said, if any transfem Jax truthers use this as a "gotcha" against former well meaning transmasc Jax truthers, despite the fact that Jax's gender identity could have very well been ANYTHING before the final implied otherwise, you're kind of a dick

fanfic isn't an act of activism by the way. it's a fun hobby. writers write whatever they want for themselves as their silly little getaway/self-care. if you want "more representation" of something in fanfics, then you write fanfics about that thing you want. nobody is stopping you. but saying other fanfic writers as a whole are "the problem" or are "to blame" for "not including xyz" or "not writing about xyz" just isn't how fanfics and hobbies work.
