“Ok, I’ll patch you up, but we’ve gotta have a deal going here- you don’t tell anyone I’m doing this instead of sending you to an actual certified nurse, and I don’t tell anyone about…. whatever… this is…”
Despite his supposedly “tough guy” appearance and what his sister liked to call his “resting bitch face”, Derek was not, in fact, an asshole
Actually, he had a really bad habit of caring too much about people he shouldn’t care about to begin with and falling into whatever traps they were setting for him…
Point being, he couldn’t just turn away someone in distress, no matter what the reasoning, and he couldn’t blame anyone for not wanting to seek professional help either, not everyone in the medical feild was trust-worthy, that was part of why Derek specifically chose nursing and EMT training instead of pursuing a doctorate, people tended to trust nurses and EMTs alot more, plus he’d have more of his work focused on the front lines of emergencies, wich tended to be where he was most comfortable, as… weird as he knew that was…
All of this to say, he knew he should send his “patient” to one of the certified nurses employed by Luxe, but he just couldn’t quite bring himself to
Many people thought that Nina was mean because of the high standards that she held other people to, but they would think she was absolutely insane if they knew the standards that she held herself to. It was these standards that had panic rolling through her in waves as she digested what had happened.
It was a normal day, and honestly the event itself wasn’t exactly eventful. Practice was part of being perfect, and Nina was an athletic person, so she’d found herself a nice, quiet place where people didn’t usually gather and she practiced. Because she was alone, she could really push herself in ways that she wouldn’t dare do in front of other people for fear of messing up but she had to work on sometime in order to really get better and push herself. Unfortunately, she pushed too far this time. Thankfully, nobody had been around to see her, but she was still left in a less-than-favorable position.
Then Derek happened across her and her knee was bothering her enough that he noticed when she tried to leave the area. He’d insisted on her going to the infirmary, and when she’d refused he started patching her up. It put her in a humbling position, though she did her best not to look humbled. Her eyebrow quirked upwards in pointed question as he made his demand and she laughed, obviously not phased by his tough guy act; she was a tough woman in her own right. “As if. I’ll end you if you tell anyone anything about any of this. This literally never happened.” She held an index finger up and moved to stand with her knee wrapped up, thanks to Derek. She was wearing shorts for moveability and breathability, but this bandage needed to be covered so she took the few steps over to her stuff to grab sweatpants out of her bag to tug them on. Her movement was still not perfectly normal, but she was doing much better; the bandagin gave her support.
