↳ I think Chan would love to learn another language. He would consider it a challenge—and he’s always up for a challenge. Though the grammar and concepts might be a bit hard to understand, he would admire the fact that you were taking time out of your day to teach him your native tongue. And, having English already in his arsenal of languages, he could learn and relate some of the words to his first language.
“Je m'appelle, Chan.” His voice was smooth and he sounded almost fluent. All you could do was stare in surprise. “Beau travail, mon amour.”
↳ Woojin, our sweet teddy bear, would be the cutest thing when you spoke to him in French for the first time. You just told him that you loved him, thinking he was asleep. But, he wasn’t ... He sat up immediately and grasped your hands tightly in his own. With a wide grin on his face, he asked you if you would be willing to teach him about your native language and the works of it.
“Tes cheveux sont beaux aujourd'hui, ma chérie,” you said, smoothly uttering the phrase. He narrowed his eyes and thought for a few seconds before speaking. “Ah, merci, mon amour.” His voice was still splotched with his Korean accent, but your heart swelled with pride nonetheless. And, after the words fell from his mouth, you pecked him on the cheek and gave him a big hug.
↳ I’m not sure with Minho. I feel like he’d been a bit hesitant at first—not because he doesn’t want to learn your language, but because he doesn’t want to mess it up. To him, learning a language is in turn learning the culture, so if he makes a mistake with the grammar or spelling or something minuscule like that, he feels as if he’s offending the culture. But, you assure him that along with the language, you’d teach him about customs as well. After that, he began to relax. And, sometimes, he’d just spout off random French words/phrases ...
He wrapped his arms around your waist one day and whispered into you ear, “Voiture,” You craned your neck and glanced at him quizzically, with a furrowed brow, “Minho, why did you just whisper ‘car’ to me?” He looked just as confused as you. “I thought that meant ‘baby?’” You shook your head and laughed, “Not even close, chéri. Good try, though.”
↳ One eventful evening, you and Changbin had settled down on the couch with the others to play some intense rounds of Mario Kart. You grabbed your favorite controller and plopped down next to Binnie, “I don’t think you understand how bad I’m going to beat you.” He rolled his eyes playfully and chuckled, “Sure, just like you said you were gonna beat me at Pac-Man, too?”
A few games in, and Changbin—to your dismay—was kicking your ass. “Merde,” you muttered under your breath. And, all of the sudden, Princess Peach (Binnie Binnie Changbinnie’s character ofc) fell to the back of the pack. “Whoa,” he murmured, “what language was that?” You stared at him, wide-eyed, and then burst into a fit of giggles. “It was French, Bin.” He nodded, still confused, “Can you teach me more?” His intrigued gaze was off-putting considering that the French he just heard was a curse. “Of course I can teach you more, Bin,” you pecked him on the cheek, “but let me win the game first.”
↳ Hyunjin would absolutely love you teaching him French (and would probably ask you to speak it more) !! One evening while he was in the studio with the others, you decided to go with him and watch the boys practice. And, of course, they were amazing. So, you just had to compliment them. While they stopped to take a break, you started your sentence, “Wow, you guys, that was so great! I can’t vous croire les gars font leurs débuts!” Unknowingly, you had switched into your native tongue, the other boys didn’t seem to mind much, but Hyunjin couldn’t shut his gaping mouth.
“(Name), babe?” He asked, “Do you think, maybe, when we get to the dorms, that you could teach me a bit more French? I really want to hear you speak it more!”
↳ Jisung would be thrilled when you asked him if you could teach him a little French. He would just be really excited to learn about the language and maybe a little bit of the culture along with it. And, one night, you were out getting ice cream with him. It was a humid night, and Jisung was still wearing his old, black hoodie. Looking to him with mock-horror in your eyes, you asked, “Tu n’es pas chaud?” And, when Jisung turned his head, he stared at you in confusion. “Huh?” It took a few seconds, but you eventually realized that you spoke to him in French, and you began to laugh. “Oh, sorry honey, that was French! Would you maybe want to learn a little?” The bewilderment soon transformed into a wide grin, and he planted a kiss on your cheek, “Of course I would, (Name)! That would be awesome!”
↳ Felix, I think, would be a bit reluctant and maybe even nervous to learn French, but only because he’s already learning (and advancing daily) in Korean! But, after some convincing, you were finally able to teach him a few simple phrases. And, contrary to him being hesitant, he picked up the language easily and was speaking bits and pieces to you on a daily basis.
“Voulez-vous nous regarder pratiquer aujourd'hui, mon poussin?” He asked in perfect French. You raised your eyebrows and glanced at him, surprised. “D'accord! Puis-je venir aux dortoirs après?” He paused, and his gaze shifted to you and he grinned, “What does that mean?” You chuckled and repeated what you said in Korean. Felix smiled and nodded. “I’ll see you at the dorms, then,” you laughed, pecking his lips.”
↳ Aw, I feel like Seungmin would be really happy that he has the opportunity to learn another language, especially if you were his teacher! He would definitely ask you about it often, and sometimes, he would even burst out into a French song and ask you if you knew it. Overall, he would be a sweetheart and really immersed in the language itself.
“Dans sa love story, dans sa love story ...” He began to sing, in a delicate, calming voice. You smiled to yourself and turned your head so you were facing him. “Do you want me to guess?” You asked. Seungmin nodded and you laughed, “Love Story by Indila. That was too easy, Minnie. Bon essayer, cependant.”
↳ So, Jeongin would be really excited that you decided to teach him French, but he would also be extremely self-conscious about speaking it. But, he made the choice that he wouldn’t be afraid, and Jeongin eventually incorporated French into his studies. Every day, he would study and he would get better. And, after a few months of diligent work, he was able to converse with you!
“Voulez-vous sortir pour la crème glacée ce soir, (Name)?” Jeongin asked, looking up from your intertwined hands. You grinned and met his eyes, “Cela semble parfait, mon chéri.” He brought your hand up to his lips and kissed it gently. “Jeongin? Has this language made you more ... romantique?” Jeongin laughed, “No, it just made me realized that I love you to the moon and back, l’amour.”
