thackery binx has lived for over 300 years, but hasnât experienced much. for most of his life, he was stuck as a cat. he could only observe. he had watched every year as halloween decorations were put up, pumpkins were carved, leaves changed colors and fell, and kids went trick or treating. he watched the teenagers his age party and go out with friends. they looked like they were having the time of their lives. it was cool seeing others enjoy themselves, sure, but he really wanted to be involved in something. anything, honestly. the first time he was involved in anything on halloween was last year, when a high schooler named max dennison, his little sister dani, a girl named allison, and you, who he immediately adored, accidentally brought three witches known as the sanderson sisters back from the dead. they were the witches who had sentenced them to this life of isolation, and turned him into a black cat. thackery helped the group defeat the witches, and as soon as all three of them had turned to dust, binx transformed back into a human!
that was all a year ago. now, it was halloween once again, over the passed year you and thackery had taken a liking towards each other, and not long after the witches were defeated, you two started dating! the two of you were at your house putting on your costumes, just planning to spend the night handing out candy and probably watching scary movies. thackery almost couldnât believe what was happening. he was finally able to spend a halloween with other people. he got to dress up and eat candy and watch crappy horror movies. he got to sit on your bed while you finalized your costume, so that he could go with you to hand out candy to the younger kids in your neighborhood. he was fine spending the night in, obviously, but he wanted to maybe venture out a little bit, see what a halloween party had to offer. he was brought back to reality when he felt you sit down on the bed next to him.
âthackery! are you listening to me?â you asked, followed by a giggle. âwhat? sorry, no. what did you say?â he asked. you now had his full attention! âi said, do you think the white glitter or the black glitter would work better with my costume?â you showed him the swatches of both options on your arm. âthe black glitter would look good with your makeup, on your face, and you could use the white as body glitter! since itâs more transparent.â he took the small containers of glitter from you and asked you to shut your eyes so he could demonstrate. you felt him put some on your eyelids, your cheekbones, and then your collarbones. he gave you the all clear to open up, and when you did, you were very pleased with the results! âthanks, binx!â you exclaimed, turning around to put the glitter back on the top of your dresser with the other makeup youâd used to get ready. âare you ready to go set up downstairs? i donât think the trick or treaters have come out yet, but it canât be too much longer! letâs go turn on the porch light!â you started to head down the stairs, thackery following closely behind you.

it was only like a ten minute walk, but the chilled air and the slight breeze in nothing but your halloween costumes made it feel a little longer. it was all worth it when you got to the party. you rang the doorbell and were greeted by a student from your school who you didnât even know the name of. most of the guests were the same. just random kids from school you hardly knew. you stepped into the house and thackery seemed hesitant. âcome on, binx! itâll be so fun!â you said, grabbing him by the hand and guiding him through the door. he instantly regretted his decision. there were so many people crammed into this small house, he wasnât sure that any more could fit. music was blaring so loud that even though you were right next to him, he could barely make out what you were saying. if it werenât for his grip on your hand, heâs positive he would have lost you by now in the sea of people. apparently, you were right. parties were definitely not for him. he was so in his head, and he felt anxious? and kind of claustrophobic? it was getting harder and harder for him to breath. he felt like he was being crushed by all of the people around him. you finally found a place to sit down, and so you did! you pulled him into your lap and rested your head on his shoulder. you could tell he was breathing pretty heavy.
âbinx, you okay?â you asked. you pretty much had to yell for him to be able to hear you. âyeah! yeah. iâm okay.â he replied, forcing a smile on his face. âyou sure? if you changed your mind we can leave! i donât even think trick or treating has started yet.â as much as he wanted to go back to your house and just eat candy and watch tv, he didnât want you to think he was a baby. or boring. or weird for not wanting to stay. it was his idea, and he didnât want to be annoying by saying he âchanged his mind.â thatâs dumb. ânope! we can stay here! this is⊠fun.â he said, and you just shrugged your shoulders. you were taking in the party scene, looking around to see if you recognized anyone. you scanned the room from left to right, and all of a sudden, you saw allison!! âbinx, look! allisonâs here! letâs go say hi!â you signaled for him to stand up and grabbed his hand once again, guiding him through the large crowd.
âhi (y/n)! hi thackery! i didnât expect you guys to be here!â allison yelled once youâd reached her. she of course was standing right by a few speakers, making it even more difficult to hear and understand one another. thackery was squeezing your hand super tight at this point. the noise that was causing his anxiety seemed to only be getting louder. you could just tell that something wasnât right. it was so so obvious that he just didnât want to be there. you couldnât sit by and watch him suffer. âyeah! um, we were just heading out and we wanted to say good night! weâre going to go home and watch a movie! right, love?â he looks confused, but just nods in agreement. anything to get out of there. âaw, well i wish i would have caught you guys sooner! have fun!â allison said as she waved. you pretty much dragged thackery through the crowd (again) to get to the door, and as soon as the door could be pried open you both tooth a deep breath. it was so hot and muggy in that house, the air was hardly breathable.
âwellâŠâ you started. âthat was pretty awful.â you said laughing. thackery chuckled back, before hugging you tightly. âiâm sorry i ruined the party.â he mumbled. âbinx, you did not ruin the party. i could tell you werenât enjoying yourself. thatâs not your fault!â you pulled away and kissed him on the cheek. âit was just loud and crowded and muggy and-â you grabbed his shoulders and shook him a little. âthackery, you donât need to explain yourself. are you okay?â you asked. âyeah, iâm okay now. that party was scary.â he chuckled a little as you grabbed his hand and the two of you started to walk towards your house.

It was over. It had really only taken a couple of hours, but it felt like itâd taken years. You, a virgin, his little sister, his girlfriend, and this random talking cat you found in an old abandoned house had just defeated 3 witches who were trying to steal the souls of children. Crazy, right? Theyâd turned to dust no more than a couple of seconds ago, and you felt the biggest weight ever lift off of your shoulders. No more witches, or zombies, or black flame candles. As you took a deep breath and tried to process all that had happened, you realized that you didnât see a certain black cat anywhere. You took another breath, and then walked around the cemetery you were in trying to find him.
Youâd barely started looking when all of a sudden you heard Dani scream. You rushed over to her to see what had happened, and gasped when you saw her standing next to a tall, blue eyed boy, with dirty blonde hair, who seemed to be about your age. He was wearing what looked like bedsheets, and was barefoot. Youâd never seen this man in your life, and you had no clue who he was or what he was doing in a cemetery at 5:30 in the morning.
âWho are you? What are you doing here?â you said worried, pulling Dani so she was behind you. By now, Allison and Max had heard the ruckus and had come to see what was happening. They too were shocked to see someone new in the cemetery. âItâs me, itâs Thackery! Thackery Binx!â he said, throwing his hands up as to tell you he didnât mean any harm.
You were too busy to realize Max and Allison also behind you, so you were startled when Max finally spoke up. âThe curse! The curse the Sanderson sisters put on you is broken! You arenât a cat anymore!â Max ran to give Thackery a hug, during which Thackery looked a mix of confused, shocked, nervous, yet also happy. It had been over 300 years since he, as a human, had hugged another human. Allison ran over to join in the hug, followed by you, followed by Dani. The group hug lasted longer than any other group hug youâd ever been a part of, but deep down you wished it never ended. You knew these were your friends, the best youâd ever had, and would ever have.
When everyone pulled out of the hug, Max and Allison started asking Dani a million questions âAre you okay?â âAre you hurt?â âAre you scared?â âWhy did you scream? You really didnât have to scream.â Thackery just kind of stood there, looking at his hands, his legs, feeling his hair and his face, almost as if he still didnât believe he was no longer a black cat. He had the biggest smile on his face, the biggest youâd ever seen on anyone. He laughed a little, too happy to contain it. He suddenly looked up at you, and if at all possible, smiled even bigger than before. âYou know...â he started, all while admiring every facial feature on you he couldnât quite see from cat height. âYour face, your smile, your eyes... theyâre all so beautiful. I hope you realize that.â and then proceeded to pull you into a hug, just the two of you.
It felt like you were the only two people in the world in those couple of seconds. All noise seemed to fade away, even though Dani was screaming like a crazy woman at Max for being too over-protective. You never thought youâd feel this way towards someone who was a cat just moments ago. Your entire journey he was nothing but a friend, a brotherly figure, a helpful guide. Now, something had changed. His appearance had changed drastically, but that wasnât it. You just never realized how sweet, adorable, and happy he was before.
This only became more evident over the next few months. You, Max, and Allison had spruced up the old Sanderson house for him to live in, gotten him enrolled in school, and taught him everything he needed to know about how to live in modern times. While he was best friends with Max, Allison, and even Dani, he too just felt something different towards you. You two would always hang out in his new home. Youâd go out and do stuff, just the two of you. It was just, different. Thatâs the only was he knew how to explain it.
Not long after he became human, you two had started something you liked to call âThackeryâs List of Firsts.â It was a check list with everything you, Max, and Allison thought Thackery just NEEDED to do since he was a human now. Some things on the list were silly, and only on there to joke around. Like, âThackeryâs first stepsâ which had been put on there by Max. Another hit was, âThackeryâs first time playing jump ropeâ which had been put on there after Thackery nearly lost all his limbs and both eyes all while playing with Dani and her jump rope. Another thing put on there, by Allison this time, was âThackeryâs first kiss.â She just knew you two liked each other, and had to do something about it. It was little, but she hoped that maybe it would give whoever saw it first a little push to finally say something.
So now, weâre here. It was a Friday night in February. It was chilly outside and you two were wrapped in blankets by the fireplace in the Sanderson house. You were looking through the house to find something to do, and stumbled across the list of firsts. âThackery! We should find something to cross off your list!â You said as you sat back down next to him near the fire. You started flipping through the pages, trying to find something you could just check off really quickly. âWe have frozen chicken nuggets. I donât get why âThackeryâs first chicken nuggetâ isnât crossed off yet.â You giggled after youâd said that. You remember when Max had written it down and Thackery went off about how he refuses to try one because they look like rubber. âThey look like rubber!!â He shouted, starting to laugh after heâd said it, just because you were laughing. Your laugh made him so happy, he couldnât not laugh along with you. âWell, what about, âThackeryâs first time riding a bike?â There was a scared look on his face. âThose things look like death traps.â He said, completely serious. You started to laugh even harder than before. âOkay, okay, not today. What about...â You were scanning the pages once again, looking for something quick, safe, and easy. Suddenly, you saw what Allison had written down.
âWhat about âThackeryâs first kiss?â When do you plan on crossing that one off?â You teased him. âI still canât believe youâve never kissed anyone.â He blushed, and went on one of his adorable little rambles. âWell, I donât just want to kiss someone to say Iâve kissed someone. I want it to mean something. I want the person to be special and I want something special with that person, before and after I kiss them. I donât want just a hit and run, I want someone who really likes me, loves me even. There is this person Iâve been thinking about. Their hair is so...ugh. And their smile, and their eyes, and their face, and their sense of style, and their jokes, and their laugh. And theyâre so kind and theyâre so special to me. But I could never kiss you because I donât wanna ruin the friendship I have with you.â All it took was his one little slip up, and you were sat up straight with your eyes wide and the dumbest, goofiest smile on your face. He felt the same. He felt the same and he had just admitted it.
âYou do realize what you just said, right?â You asked, still staring at him. He looked confused. âNo, sorry, you know how I get. I start to talk and then I start rambling and then I just donât even know what Iâm saying anymore and then-â You cut him off by pulling him closer to you and kissing him. It wasnât a long kiss, or a heavy make out session. It was a sweet, short, yet meaningful kiss. You pulled back, and quoted his words from before. âYou know, I really like you. Love you, even.â
The next time youâd gotten together with Max and Allison, which was a couple days later, you guys were looking through the book. They didnât say anything too out of the ordinary. Just who got akumatized, what happened, no one was hurt, Ladybug and Chat Noir saved the day, blah blah blah. But then, something caught your attention. It was rare, but sometimes theyâd have the news cameras rolling at just the perfect time

so you guys start playing together! whether youâre on the same computer taking turns or on different computers in the same room
one day youâd be playing on the same computer and itâs your turn to be in control.
marinette is the kind of player to make a whole backstory and have happy endings and happy kids and happy marriages and perfect careers and big houses and blah blah blah
but you didnât know she wanted to keep it that way. so maybe a sim your sim met makes you angry. you say something like âoh my god iâm gonna bring him home and trap him in a pool. mark my words- he will die today.â
and marinette is like âhahaha soooo funnyâ
but then you do it
and sheâs like âOH MY GOD (Y/N) WHAT ARE YOU DOING???â
and youâd be like âI LITERALLY ALREADY TOLD YOU WHAT I WAS DOINGâ
and from then on she doesnât let you touch her important worlds
she watches you play on your own computer though! and it fascinates her how you can just go around killing sims and ruining their lives without feeling bad.
like, sometimes, itâs just straight death. drowning them, killing them in a fire, trapping them outside in the cold/heatâŠ
but other times itâs torture. like, making them so embarrassed that they eventually die from it. or making all their family members die while they live. or making them super ugly with a weird name and then making everyone hate them just for the fun of it (yes i have done this and honestly itâs kind of funny)
she also thinks itâs so funny how you think that ruining marriages in that game is so fun.
like when youâre bored you just go steal bella gothâs man-

adrien isnât super big on video games that arenât about robots or fighting. stuff like that.
so when he finds out you also play video games, but a âboring oneâ as he puts it, heâs a little disappointed.
then he realizes that you donât play like most people.
you play to kill, fight, torture, and just make the sims miserable.
i feel like heâd start to find interest in it like he does his own video games. he finds it hilarious that you just make people hate their lives for fun.
but he wouldnât be like that at first. i feel like heâd be like âbut thatâs mean. come on (Y/N). youâre joking right?â
but then he watches you play and sees how hard you start laughing at your sims and heâs like âokay⊠i guess itâs kind of funny.â
and now here we are. whenever youâre playing sims, heâs right next to you backing you up.
âYES!! GET EM!!! BEAT HIM UP!â
âIMPLY MOTHER IS A LLAMA. DO IT. SHE DESERVES IT.â
âBRING THEM HOME. THEY GET THE COWPLANT I SWEAR-â
âFIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!â
âYES YOU WIN! BOOOO YOU SUCK WHATS YOUR FACE!â
you let him play once and he enjoys it more than he thought he would
while he had fun, he definitely prefers being your backup while you destroy the sim world
also: super random. but heâd be scared of the grim
reaper.
