“Well, then your mother is a very smart lady,” she said with a nod. To her, it wasn’t a weird thing to be called a mom, because she knew she acted like one. “Ooh, I love watermelons! That would look so cute! So, should I die my hair green? Magenta is my favorite color anyway.”

Lily laughed before taking her own bite, then proceeded to extend the donut to Dorcas again. “For good behavior,” she noted, shrugging with a grin on her face.

Dorcas clapped excitedly, taking another small bite and smiling at Lily. “You’re the best best friend ever, did you know that, Lils?”

“Oh, I’m so glad, Bertram! I’d really hate to see you succumb to vices and addictions, it happens far too often to young people, and you can do so much with your life,” she said, chipper as ever. “Ooh, like a sorbet color? That might actually look nice. Well, let’s go now! I really want a frappuccino and to do some serious window shopping.”

     Hestia looked down at her with wary eyes. “What do you need?” she asked her, putting her books back down on the table, but not sitting down just yet.

    “It’s just that I don’t really understand this chapter. I’m not good with regular numbers in general, you know, and I just... don’t really get it. And you’re super smart, so I thought you could help.”

“One bite,” Lily responded sternly, holding out the donut. “Don’t make me regret our entire friendship now.”

Dorcas gave her a sweet little smile before she leaned forward to take a small bite--- as promised--- and grin. “Mmm, it’s so good!”

❝I guess it couldn’t hurt. Hey I don’t mind, but this is in my best interests yeah?❞ Aubrey grinned, ❝With your current color I’d suggest a yellowy orange. Like almost flame colored. For everything else I’d need to see a picture.❞

“Yes, it really is! You’d feel so much better without all that rubbish in your system, I swear!” she encouraged with a bright smile, messing with her hair. “You think? Hmm, I’ve never liked orange that much, but it might look good.”

     The girl’s puppy eyes were making her nervous. “Yeah, never mind, I was just leaving anyway” she replied, closing her book and throwing her bag over her shoulder.

“Well, I think there are always ways you could cut back--- I could help you! If you wanted, that is, I’m not going to make you change your life,” she said with a nod and a smile. “I’m not sure. Purple maybe? Or turquoise? I like the blue I have now.”

“Well, you could always start now! A lot of stuff teenagers do isn’t really good for you, you know,” she said, sounding like a mum. “Something bright, but not too much, you know? I mean, I’ve already got my hair to stand out, so I’m not sure.”
