Nuke Plants create ZERO emissions. They are extremely clean. Basically, the reactor boils water, which turns a turbine and creates steam. The turbine is what creates electricity, and the steam comes out of the towers. Boom. Thats all that is. Just clouds lads. Cleanest power we have.

The big two negatives that give nuclear power a bad reputation is waste and meltdowns.

Thing is the meltdown issues usually occur between one of two things: Poor Reactor planning and design, or natural disasters. Three Mile Island and Chernobyl were both victims of the early ages of Nuclear energy and having to rush building these reactors to help with the expansion of cities. Because they were rushed, there were very unfortunate flaws with the reactors, and the chain of events that lead them to their respective failures. 

These are super TL;DR, but just bear with me

TMI had an improper set of alarms go off in a routine maintenance that led to the cooling water being bled out of the system and the reactor to overheat. Radiation from the melted core was contained inside of the chamber itself and thus any further damage was prevented. Chernobyl was undergoing a “minimum power test”, to where the reactor was turned down to as low as possible but was becoming unstable. And when trying to shut the reactor down, the pressure between the cores in the base led the built up heat and steam to blow the concrete platter in the floor, through the ceiling to release its radiation.

As for natural disasters, Fukushima is probably the most notable example, with the earthquake shutting down the control room, leaving the operators blind to what was happening inside of the reactors after the generators were flooded with sea water. And as time went by, without the monitors running, pressure and Hydrogen gas built up inside of the large containment buildings, before spontaneously exploding the structure, and the reactor core. 

As for waste, yes that is the biggest issue now, as modern reactors that have been built with much better standards (such as the CANDU series) are slowly pushing out expended radioactive cores. And what to do with them is the big problem, unfortunately. 

Still looking towards to getting some of that Fusion power though sometime in the future.
