She leans up and kisses his cheek.

     “I couldn’t do that through a stupid biohazard suit.”

“I- I-” He’s stunned, reduced to stuttering, and turns dark green.

“I... suppose.” There. He’s finally able to get the other word out.

She just rolls her eyes.

   “Wouldn’t I have already contaminated you by being in the future? Stop being a baby.”

“Now I am exposed to all of the atmosphere in this century!” He’s absolutely betrayed.

“Kara, how could you?”

Kara says nothing. She just reaches over and pulls the helmet off his head.

“Kara!” Fruitlessly, he tries to pull the collar of his suit up over his mouth, flailing with his free hand as he tries to breathe through the fabric and speak with a very muffled voice.

“You have contaminated me!”

    “You can’t catch asthma. And the plague has been dead for like 600 years, Querl.”

“There is still the flu, then.”

“I need to be safe.”

   “… You’re completely serious, aren’t you?”

It’s not like he’s ever not serious.

“Of course.” Why wouldn’t he be?

“My immune system is very dissimilar to yours. I must take caution.”

   “… But is the biohazard suit necessary?”

“Do you know what kind of diseases exist in this century, Kara?”

“I could catch the Bubonic plague, asthma, the deadly flu! I need to ensure that I am safe.”
