Photographing @feelinpeachykeen as Captain Marvel was, dare I say... marvelous. ;) • So yeah... I'm really proud of this photo. ^^' Morgan was awesome as Captain Marvel, and I'm so glad she wanted to collab at Ellicott City this year. Thank you Morgan, it was great doing the photo thing again. :)

Hey hi hello everyone, and happy Feature Artist Friday!
One day browsing through a Power Ranger group I follow, I came across some photos of some Ranger cosplayers. They immediately caught my eye and I couldn’t stop scrolling through the photographer’s work. Even today I’ll take time just to look through her portfolio and get pumped / inspired to do photography. Who is this you may ask? She’s today’s Featured Artist, Marie Sturges!
The way she works with colors really resonated with me, as well as how she focuses on her subjects in various ways. Sometimes it’s through the color, sometimes it’s through depth of field, sometimes it’s how the subject is posed / presenting their expression. I love her post-processing as well, as it really stands out in a way that makes it her own. Yes, she photographs a lot of subject matter I’m personally interested in, but it shows in the same way in her product / portrait work as well.
I’ll go straight to the point, Marie is one of my favorite photographers ever. I could talk about technical jargon about why her work is so good, but ultimately it comes down to her work just hitting that right nerve. She is absolutely worth your time, and I’m so glad we connected as both photographers and friends. :)

Hey hi hello everyone, and happy Feature Artist Friday! Back at Katsucon 2012 (first convention I went to as a photographer,) I met a very cool cosplayer who said she was planning on putting more focus in cosplay photography. We exchanged information so I could look at her work, and I immediately could tell I ran into someone who was going to make waves with her photography. That person was Nikita of @cozpho Photography. Nikita has a style which I think is best described as “cinematic” with a certain flow to them. It’s cinematic because her shots look as if they come straight out of a movie or tv show. As for flow, I know that sounds super artsy-fartsy, but that’s honestly how I’d describe it in a word. When you look at a photo she’s taken, your eyes gently glide around the image… okay so that description was equally as artsy-fartsy, but hopefully you at least understand her work is the bee’s knees! No matter who the model is, Nikita has a way of making sure you have a fantastic time during your shoot (as well get great photos.) She’s one of the kindest people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. Take that kindness and combine that with her talent as a photographer, and you get photos that are just simply awesome. COZ they’re PHOnomenal! … She’s also awesome because I can hang with her and she’ll actually appreciate my horrible puns (at least to an extent!) Be sure to follow Nikita at Cozpho Photography. Today I’m excited to post the first of many Feature Artist Friday posts! As I said last week, I love art for many reasons, and I wanted to do something to share that love and inspiration with you lovelies. So let’s begin!
Today let’s talk about @sketchinthoughts. A few months ago I was looking at some Pokemon art here on Tumblr when I came across a video called Sketch Diaries, a series which Melissa talks about what’s going on in her life while drawing one of the 721 Pokemon. I loved watching her process and listening to her talk about her day, so I started browsing through her work. If you take a look at her page, http://sketchinthoughts.tumblr.com/ , you’ll see that she’s a big Pokemon can. You’ll also find Undertale, Life is Strange, and other cool fan art. You’ll also find some pretty sweet original pieces as well!
I like Melissa’s work because while her style can change, the warm-cutesy feeling I get when looking at her work is always consistent. Something else to note is that she’s also an incredibly sweet person. I bring this up because whenever I look at her art, I find myself in a better mood than I was in prior. Her art is as sweet as she is. smile emoticon
Be it cleaner line art or a more rough paint-like style, you can be sure you’ll feel good looking at Melissa’s art. :)
