Final week (Ending)

 8 weeks ago, presented my pitch to my class telling them what I wanted to do for my project. I chose this topic because I started designing with my best friend in grade 2. Those were probably one of my best memories. So I decided to take my childhood dreams to the next step. I thought and the beginning of these 8 weeks that dressmaking is easy. But throughout my journey, I found it is actually really difficult. I was ready to give up a lot during these 8 weeks. But I’m happy I didn’t because I’m really proud of what I made. I had many up and down but by the end, it was all worth. I hope reading this you will light the creativity enlight in yourself and create something you are proud of too!

Week 6

For the last 2 weeks, I had a lot of projects and tests so I was unable to continue this project. This week, I did some research on how to make a dress and I’m feeling ready to start! I found many youtube tutorials and books to help me.

Week 3

This week, I figured out how to use the sewing machine and made some designs. I created many pockets and filled them with rice to create a heat pouch. I ended up making 6 or 7 before I felt confident enough to move to the next stage.

Week 2

During this week, I went to fabric land and looked at the fabrics I wanted. The design I made had 2 colours: Black and gold. The problem was the gold fabrics that they were selling was bad quality so I decided to make a dress with different shades of purple instead. I bought a 1/2 meter of 2 shades and decided to create a sample first. I had a sewing machine at home but I don’t know how to use it and I decided to hand sew the whole thing. The problem is when I tried to do that to my sample it turns out that if I don’t use a sewing machine, the shape of the dress is very hard to see. Ughhh!

Week 1

During this week I wasn't able to do many things I planned to do. This was because I was on a trip and was not able to work.  So in the end, all I did was create my design and find out what fabrics I wanted to use. I really like my design and is looking forward to making it!!

Beginning

Hi! My name is Stephanie and this is my blog about my progress through designing and creating a dress. I chose this project because when I was young, I really enjoyed designing dresses. So I decided to take this passion a step further by actually creating the dress I design. I will be updating weekly. Stay tuned!
