Always elusive Doug Bennett 

is a total mash up of all things artistic - he’s a full time photographer, painter, illustrator, and filmmaker, with a heap of cool works under his belt, and way more to come. Hailing from the suburbs in Melbourne’s south east, I met Doug 5 years ago at a dimly lit party under a haze of smoke and alcohol. From there he built up his skills, travelling the world and moving to the city, Doug now lives in his own art box, filled with his art, books, zines, vinyl, fresh shirts and a never ending supply of wine. A regular photographer of the latest up and coming bands, Doug knows good music, and he knows good art. In a recent photo series of Doug in his apartment, we explored his works in paint, and how his inspirations from past artists and his own mind, transfer onto the cuts of wood he uses as his canvas. Sitting inside his own creations, he looked through his vast collection of books, rolled a joint and spoke to me about his plans for the future. For now though, everything seems to be coming up fast, and 2016 will be jam packed with adventures for Doug Bennett. Be sure to keep an eye on his work and catch him in Sydney for the ColourSound Festival from the 24th - 27th of March and again in Melbourne for his very own Good Stuff Fest - April 9.

This band has quickly become one of my favourites, After hearing Bowl Moles & Ramp Tramps when I was in Paris and then when I got back to Melbourne the first thing I did is I went to a house party where they played and they blew me away (Declan did in the dunny). They are playing on the 2nd of Jan with Great Places and Woo Who at YAH YAHS so if your in Melbourne come down and actually have fun!

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard

You can close your eyes and forget everything, just for a moment, or as long as King Gizzard keep playing with your kaleidoscopic vision. There’s some plaintive cries of “one more song”, but nothing. Gizzard make you lose everything, the crowd reacts to them how rats would react to testing drugs and instant unstoppable crowd movement.
